I hadn't had art work professionally framed in quite a number of years (15 at least). So I really had no idea what sticker shock I was in for... not from Distinctive Edge, but from framing in general. With that said, Ron (the owner)was so patient, kind, and understanding as I viewed, reviewed, viewed, and reviewed again, so many different frames, mattings, etc. I honestly think I looked at least 10-15 different combinations of frames and mattes; a nod to the options available. At the end of encounter, I made a choice, scheduling 3 large prints to be double-matted and framed. Despite telling Ron of my hesitation in spending quite so much, he made sure to let me know he wouldn't be placing the order for my materials until Monday so if I changed my mind or had questions/concerns, I could just give him a call. Over the weekend, I decided to try and do a bit more due-diligence in checking other vendors pricing for comparable materials. I thought I had found something significantly cheaper at another store (all estimates using their online tools) so I called Ron and told him to cancel my order. I felt no pressure and was perfectly willing to discuss my options with Ron when I returned to pick up my prints. When I told him about the quote I got from The other store ( a chain store) he asked me several questions I couldn't answer about their pricing, materials, etc. Ron then took the time to sit with me as we called the store to ask the questions I didn't know to ask such as, were the mattes acid wash to prevent fading, the type of glass used in the frames, etc. Once we were actually comparing apples to apples, the online quote from the other store increased over $200. Now, the Distinctive Edge price and the other store were nearly identical; however, the customer service I received from Ron/Distinctive Edge, was superior and thus I again scheduled my artwork to be framed... with different frames and matting then my first order... When I tell you Ron was patient...he was really patient :-). On the downside, but really nothing major because stuff happens, there was a slight delay in getting one of my pictures done. The company sent only one set of mattes but I needed two. But, Ron called me as soon as he became aware of the delay and told me I could come in and pick up one piece or wait about an extra week and get them both at the same time. I appreciated him communicating with me so that I didn't have to call and ask where my artwork was. I opted to wait and get them both together and I was completely happy with the final product. My prints look great! I will be returning to have another one done and to have some older artwork I have reframed to bring them back to life/update them. Thanks Ron! read more

I'm pretty good at sticking stuff in a frame; but when I have something really special &or collectible I go straight to Distinctive Edge. Ron is very cool & is a total professional when it comes to creating an impressive presentation of your special stuff, along with the top quality work & service you expect. I've had a few tricky custom jobs that needed special multicolored matting and precision cut-outs. Ron made them 'pop'. He does great work & gets it back to in reasonable time and the prices are fair. A couple times I needed a job done quickly and he got it done by the deadline. There's some great artwork in the gallery, but what I really think is special is the collection of works, both originals & prints, by Tom Phillips, the late great Dan Pedro artist. This place is not cheap, but the quality of their work is top notch. I've had them fame things for me on 3 different occasions. I have a lousy eve for picking mat colors. One of the employees, possibly the owner has been very helpful with suggestions. Distinctive Edge is a local neighborhood shop that has a warm and friendly but upscale elegant atmosphere. We took a couple pictures that were damaged in a storage unit which had roof issues. The pictures were in horrible condition and some rain and a lot of dirt were the culprits. We considered throwing all of them away. They had sentimental value so we decided to take them to Distinctive Edge to see if they could be salvaged. Ron was so gracious and helpful as he reviewed each piece and gave us his professional opinion and our options. We decided to let go of two of them. However, the others, Ron was able to cleanup, repair and replace the glass on the frames restoring them to pretty near like new condition. When we first saw them we were amazed how nice they looked. We were so happy with the finished results. Several months later we acquired a piece of art from a notable gallery that needed to be framed. We are not experts and we knew we were going to need the help of someone who really knew what they were doing. Distinctive Edge was our first choice for framing. Again, Ron was amazingly patient and helpful and helped us select a frame and a double mat that really compliments our newly acquired art. This is our go-to place and I highly recommend Distinctive Edge for framing. The owner of this establishment is rude. I entered the shop with a diploma that needed framing and he continued to talk with two friends for the span of two minutes completely ignoring me. I tried to make eye contact with him but he continued talking about Italain surnames with his friends. I was just a few feet away and was trying to be respectful by not interrupting him.
