I bought a painting 2 weeks ago, when I was on Kaua'i. It is an 11x14 print of the Hanalei Pier. This painting is a gift for my sister for Xmas. We have a lot of memories in Hanalei, so I thought this would be perfect. After searching in Yelp, I found this highly reviewed store with a 5 star average. I happen to get my chiropractor adjustments upstairs, but didn't even notice the neighbors. Juan helped me with my frame selection and did a special rush on my order, as I wanted to have it the next day. Here comes another Long Jason Irvin review and it is well deserved! First as usual let me set the scene. This year (2017) as with all years I go to San Diego's Comic Con. I'm a Huge Venom fan and have been since a child, however for some reason Venom isn't super popular at Comic Con as lets say "The Avengers". This year however my kids found not only Venom comics but also found the artist for the original "Lethal Protector" series AND got them all signed for me. Needless to say this year was "My year" for finding "Loot". That being said I began my yelp search for framing professionals that could/ would: 1. Take care of my comics 2. Help me create something amazing 3. (Bonus) Make me feel amazing about spending on a frame Insert the "Amazing" Miss Claudia here_______!! I walk into the shop and I introduce myself and at first I don't think she knew how to take me (In a introductory type of way). So I explain my comic situation and ask her "Can you handle comics?" she says "Yes!" and I immediately follow with "BUT...Can you handle MY comics?". After a few laughs, Claudia and I completely go through frames, glass options, design possibilities and really iron out this amazing concept for the Comic Piece. After going through multiple ideas I finally find a "Floating Frame" on google images and ask Claudia, "Can you do this" without hesitation she says "YES!" and boom my baby was conceptualized. At the end of our design review/layout; I truly felt like I was working with a friend to design this and I felt at ease with EVERYTHING! I pay the down payment and walk out feeling again, wonderful about my purchase as she tells me we are about 2-3 weeks out. 3 weeks later due to my work schedule I go to pick the baby up and OMG is it everything I could imagine. It is a dream come true! They had it all up where I could see it all wrapped and I completely lose my mind! I met with Diego who did the work on the framing and he is excited at how excited I am. After a lot of hugging, high-fiving and thanking Claudia for translating my vision into actuality Diego helps me bring this 38.5" x 51.5" (HUGE) work of art to my truck. On the way to the truck we get stopped by a family with younger kids who validate the amazingness of the piece and congratulate me on its Awesomeness LOL and this was my experience! In closing I would like to thank Claudia, Diego and the entire Team at Frame and art Depot for making everything PERFECT, Beyond Perfect to be exact. At my wedding I wanted friends and guest to be able to the matt around one of my engagement photos, rather than a guest book. I had a very delicate, one-of-a-kind piece of art (paper cutting) that needed framing. From the moment I walked in the door of Frame & Art Dept I felt assured by Claudia's depth of knowledge and expertise that my art was in good hands. Claudia spent a good amount of time helping me to design the framing for the piece and we eventually chose something with spacing, depth, and lining of the inside of the frame to match the outside. It's the most complicated framing I've ever had done, but the piece really required it and Claudia's quote came in under what I had been expecting. They also do all of their work in house so you don't need to worry about your piece being damaged in transport to a different place where it is framed. There was a slight delay in timeline due to the frame material not arriving and Claudia immediately emailed me to let me know. It was nice to see that kind of follow up and attention to detail with customer happiness. When I picked up the piece Claudia gave me advice on how to take care of it. She also gave a picture hook to hang it on and noted that they had pre-installed the picture wire. Another nice touch that I appreciated was they installed clear, small rubber feet on the bottom two corners of the frame so that it would (1) not damage your wall and (2) keep the frame in place once you had leveled it! Again, the attention to detail was great. Do be aware that this is quality custom framing and that doesn't come cheap. I quoted the job our to a few other top-rated shops in town and Claudia's quote came in lowest. Overall a great experience with Frame & Art Dept! read more
