One the surface the installation appeared to go well and everyone was nice a professional, unfortunately once the alternate services arrived to install the plumbing and gas we have had a variety of issues. The sink faucet opening was to small which required them to come back and redrill requiring me to take additional time off and the cooktop opening was cut to large by 1.5 inches in review of the documentation they were provided which has created significant issue with the stove top not falling through which now results in us needing to purchase a new stove secondary to a hole to large. Nice and professional but definitely some significant issues. Update: The company came out to review the issues and have decided that they don't need to fix anything, that it is fine the way it is. I asked why the individual that came out said I would need a new countertop and the customer service person told me he didn't say that. I have since downloaded the ring footage of him stating that in fact did need a new countertop. This whole situation has been horrible with no current resolution. read more

The credibility of this company is not up to par! My vehicle received damages at their customer parking lot by one of their employees. I was assured not to contact the local police to make a report because I was told by the manager that the company will pay for the damages. This happened around February, 2025. I am still waiting to receive payment for the damages over $2,000.00 to my vehicle. They lied to Home Depot manager that a check was mailed to me. I received no check to pay for the damages, no response to my calls, left messages to manager and owner, neither one has any courtesy to return my call. Charged $75 for a dishwasher bracket that was never installed. On top of this they dropped the first two salads of marble witch in turn delayed the job . Terrible job. They removed trim on the underside of the counter prior to installing the new, then refused to reinstall it afterwards, saying that wasn't their job. The counter could be moved by pushing or pulling on it. The counter top had several 1 inch 'lines' across the width that were shiny, unlike the rest of the counter. They did agree to come back and sand/polish those flaws. See photos. I paid someone to fix what they had neglected to do as part of their job. read more

We purchased the counters from Home Depot and we're thrilled to get a large discount because they had a small piece available for our job. The team from Distinctive Surfaces was great. They followed up soon after our countertop purchase to schedule a date to take measurements. We weren't quite ready and had to delay our project, for our own reasons by a couple of months. But Distinctive Surfaces reached out again to check on our project without any prompting. We are ready the 2nd time! They were able to easily schedule an appointment for measurements the following week. Only a few short weeks later we had our install date. The team came to install the counters. Eric was very nice and polite. He didn't mind that I was on a work call while he was here. He was very professional, went straight to work and got it all in place fairly quickly. They made sure to clean up the counters and the area they worked in. He took pictures of the finished product and asked if we had any questions. All in all a great job and a great company. Distinctive Surfaces is a countertop fabrication and installation company for Home Depot. I contracted with Home Depot and paid for purchase and installation of a specific countertop. The contract was subject to adjustment after accurate measure of the countertop surface area. Thereafter I received a request for additional payment of thousands of dollars with a statement I was being charged for TWICE the square footage of INSTALLED material. When I contacted the store, I was told that this was "unusual" since HD charged only for the actual measured square footage, with adjustments for 45 degree angles, cutouts, etc. I was then referred to HD "customer care" after several phone conversations, and shortly thereafter I received an invoice and message from HD that I needed pay no more money and the job would be performed as the contract specified. It took a month from the signing of the original contract to get the matter resolved. Then Distinctive took over. It was weeks before they began installation and the installers and material were both satisfactory, EXCEPT they unfortunately did not allow suficient space on the countertop apron behind the sink and faucet to replace an existing pass through window which was part of the project. The pass through shelf was taken back to the shop for recutting. HOWEVER, unfortunately the area below the pass through shelf did not allow 3 cm of depth to install a self backsplash and it was suggested they needed to trim that piece to 2 cm in depth or it would not fit. Someone came over to our home from Distinctive to pick up a piece of the self backsplash material to trim and cut to a depth of 2 cm and the width of the pass through shelf. AND finally since that piece was 2 cm, it made the remainder of the backsplash material unuseable since the depth did not match. A week has passed and i have heard nothing form Distinctive or HD. It was necessary for me to make multiple telephone calls to HD "customer care" and the matter has not been resolved. I was assured by a human being at "customer care" that they would get the matter resolved and they thanked me for my "patience." The cutting and installation of the basic countertop by Distinctive, other than the sink and faucet cutouts and pass through shelf, were in my opinion acceptable, but the problems mentioned have resulted in delay, a dramatic change in the project and hours of my time to get issues resolved. I cannot accordingly recommend this company. Their attention to detail and lack of communication skills are unacceptable. read more

Somewhat disappointed with their service. After the measurement technician displayed his expensive laser device, something still went wrong. The installers couldn't fit the slab in place and were forced to cut it down in length. A section of quartz was missing with some large gaps encompassing a vertical support wall. So I had to have a large matching piece of quartz made and was charged $75 extra for the piece. The owner lowered the price to $50. The end result however was that I had to hire an outside source who mitered the piece in 3 sections to wrap around the 3 sides of the exposed wall. This had cost us extra money for someone else's labor. The excuse given was that the installers did not have the pieces with them which were to be wrapped around the support. What does that have to do with anything? The initial cutting dimensions with wrong measurements was the culprit. This was definitely not a turn- key project for us. So Caveat Emptor read more

Very disappointed with their service. Chose Silestone Bianco Calacatta which has gray veining and was assured by the measurement technician that I could use a 2 cm backsplash with 3 cm countertop and they could book match the veining. I was also assured by two representatives at Distinctive Surfaces who stated this was their standard and a rep from Home Depot in Bradenton concerning the book matching of both 2 and 3 cm. They were able to book match the 3 cm and 2 cm counter and backsplash for one cabinet area, however, the main longer cabinet which houses my range and microwave (most visible area in kitchen) did not have a book matched backsplash. I refused the installation of the backsplash in the larger area. I was given the run around by both Home Depot and Distinctive Surfaces and they refused to correct the problem. I was told I would have to purchase two new countertops and backsplash for a book match. I paid over $10,000 for this countertop. read more

We just had new countertops installed yesterday and they are perfect. There was a tricky extra large piece where they had to cut a slot that surrounded a wall and it fit like a glove. THAT is excellent craftsmanship. Very happy with the quality of the product and the company. There was a lead time of over 2 months before installation but now that it is in, that seems less important. The installers did a perfect job, and they made sure I thought so too. The man who measure did a great job. Working with the people in the office was not pleasant, and I'm glad I don't have to listen to them not answer my questions any more. I ordered a special plug for the sink. The installers forgot it, and the plumber came the day before they brought it to me. There plumber knew the install date 6 weeks before he was due to come out. He would not contact me, by phone, text, or email to set up a time. I cancelled him and hired my own, a lot cheaper too. But he had to have the come back out to change out the plug. At my expense. We ordered new countertops through Home Depot, and Distinctive Surfaces is the company that came out to measure and install them. It took a few weeks after measuring for them to be installed. The guys who came and installed them were very friendly and patient with my children's 10,000 questions. After they left, I noticed a couple small issues, the main one being that the windowsill they installed was not level. Home Depot emailed me a survey. I mentioned my issues, and a couple days later I got a call from the company. Daniel was very helpful, and listed to what I had to say. He took my issues seriously, and sent someone out the next day to fix things. The guys were very patient with me, even though I was being very nit picky about the windowsill. It looks great now. Honestly, after reading reviews on here I was a little worried about their customer service. They definitely redeemed themselves in my eyes, and I have beautiful countertops that I love more than I thought possible. I would definitely recommend them to anyone. read more

Avoid them at all cost. I'm sure if there are no issues, your countertops might be satisfactory, but if there is an issue, expect to spend hours on the phone to help sort it out. They cut the wrong hole for the sink even though we had the physical sink at the time the template was made. We were left for over a month without a functional kitchen because of this. After initially blaming us for their error, it took them nearly a week to even order a sink that would fit. They didn't use expedited shipping and it took another week for the sink to arrive. If I hadn't spent hours on the phone during this entire situation, we would probably still be waiting for them to figure out how to complete our kitchen. Since you pay Home Depot, they have their money up front and have no incentive to finish. read more

Terrible Service, do not stand behind their products. We purchased a Silestone quartz countertop(black) last year, through home depot which uses Distinctive Surfaces. We had problems with staining next to the sink, I went to home depot, they said contact Distinctive Surfaces. It took a month of contacting them, and contacting Home Depot Corporate before someone would come look at it. The person who looked at it said the staining happens all the time to the dark colors. The quartz is still under warranty. I got an email from Distinctive Surfaces saying that said my claim was denied. The material is still under warranty. I could not find out why it was denied, nor was provided paperwork stating such. Distinctive Surfaces agreed to split the cost for the new piece of countertop with home depot and myself. I did not hear back, called Home Depot, they left me a voice mail saying they were paying for the install and would not pay any part of the counter top. Distinctive Surfaces just emailed me saying they were only the installer, funny that two weeks ago they were willing to share the cost to replace the damaged piece. Beware, neither they, Silestone or Home Depot stands by the product. After 8 weeks of trying to resolve this, I've paid for a new countertop. I would expect that quartz would last more than a year. read more

My installer Angel G called about 1.5 hours before he & the crew arrived, which gave me plenty of time to secure my pets and make my home as convenient as possible for them. They were able to come earlier than my installation time window, which worked even better with my schedule. Angel & his crew were careful, polite, efficient, and cleaned up after themselves. Angel had the Lein Release and Job Completion forms signed & ready for my review & signature. He explained the proper care of my new granite; the more info the better! Amazingly, there was no damage to the cabinetry, or walls. Very Nice! I am looking forward to the next phase of our project. Thank you, job well done! My only suggestion for DSF would be that the crews be sent to job sites with black caulk for black granite. For me it isn't an issue because I am adding a thin pencil moulding to the edges and the white will not be seen; for some who have completely square walls and want a clean look it might be a problem. read more
