They have a limited menu but an extensive selection of scotch and wine. I sat at the bar where the bartender could have cared Lee if I was there. He spent all his time catering to group at the end of the bar. I had to get up and ask the waitress to check on my cheeseburger. The bartender just did not care. I thought the price for a simple cheeseburger at 22.00 as steep. There was nothing special about it. Cheese, hamburger, bun and some jalapeño relish. I was in the area and decided to hop on yelp and search restaurants in the area. One of the suggestions that came up was this restaurant. I decided to give it a try since it was only nine minutes away from where I was. When I walked in my child and I were immediately sat, and my child was provided a kids menu. My child went with the pasta and butter, which is her favorite dish from anywhere. I had the pan roasted chicken and a white sangria and for dessert we shared a caramel brownie cheesecake. This restaurant is big and spacious. It was very busy and seems to be a popular restaurant in that area. Our waiter was extremely friendly, patient and attentive. Found ourselves headed to Newton in need of some dinner plans when we found District 118 on Yelp. Made a quick res using open table and we were set. We arrived about 20 mins early and they were able to take accommodate it. We had a nice, high top booth by the window with great views of the bar area. The decor is modern and upscale although you could easily get away with casual attire. We were greeted right away by both the hostess and our server, Busra who was fantastic throughout the evening. Started with some delicious cocktails and fresh guacamole. I had the short rib grilled cheese which had a near perfect ratio of meat to cheese and the bread was not overly toasted where it tears up your palate. The sweet potato fries weren't much to look at but they were really good. Everyone had a great meal and the only minor infraction we could find was a few wilted pieces of romaine in the ceasar salad; which can happen anywhere. Overall, it was a great experience. Prices were a bit higher than similar places at home but it is also Newton so $16 cocktails and $22 burger w fries is probably average. Plus, the quality was worth the price IMHO. read more

Our server, Lucie, was a real pleasure, she was funny, helpful, charming and very professional. I loved the way she interacted with our grandchildren when they ordered their meals. We sat at a big round table on the left side of the restaurant and that worked very well for interaction and conversation. They have a wonderful menu of shareable appetizers, soups, salads, burgers and handhelds, entrees, sides, and.....yes.......kids meals. We started off with some shareables, and since the kids had been here before and were fans of the Bavarian Pretzel Rods (Cinnamon-honey butter and french onion dip for $15.00) we ordered a serving, plus the Ahi Nachos ($15), Zucchini Chips (with Tzatziki, Garlic sauces for $14.00), and a Shrimp Bomb (Tempura Fried Shrimp, Homemade Garlic Mayo, Spicy Cocktail Sauce for $19.00). I sampled three of the shareables (not the pretzels) and loved the shrimps and the lightly fried delicate zucchini chips the most. The adult meals were a Prime Steak and Spinach Salad (8 oz prime sirloin, spinach, kale, soft egg, tomatoes, pickled red onions, brie croutons, and sherry vinaigrette for $24.00), a Salmon Burger (Ground Faroe Island salmon, lemon caper aioli, wilted spinach, brioche bun, and choice of fries, salad, or Caesar salad for $22.00), a District 118 Burger (custom Angus blend, aged white Cheddar, bacon, fried onion, jalapeño marmalade, and sesame bun and choice of fries, salad, or Caesar salad for $22.00), and a Quinoa and Mushroom Veggie Burger (Shiitake, crimini, portobello, garbanzo, Parmesan, Swiss, caramelized onions, and red pepper relish and choice of fries, salad, or Caesar salad for $19.00). I had the Veggie Burger with a side salad and really enjoyed it. The generously sized burger patty had an almost "beefy" taste and texture and was excellent. The side salad was fresh and yummy, especially the soy vinaigrette dressing. And now to the children's meals. They offer six of them - Kids cheeseburger, Tenders, Grilled Cheese, Kids Mac and cheese, Pizza, and Pasta - each is $12. I thought the pricing was pretty reasonable for a Boston suburb but was disappointed to see that an iced tea was $4. Overall service, food quality, and value were high, so we were quite satisfied at District 118. Went here for brunch on my birthday. The food was ok. Nothing bad, just sort of boring. I had shatshuka -- it was just eggs poached in tomato sauce -- no detectable peppers or spices. My daughter had French toast -- very basic for $20 -- no toppings and not flavorful. My husband had a turkey club and my mom had a salmon burger-- exactly what you would expect -- nothing exciting. Service was also meh. Apps came out with the meal (despite server asking if we wanted them first, which we did). We never got the juices we ordered, and the server got caught up with a large table and we never saw her between when we ordered and when we flagged her down for the check. I saw lobster mac and cheese on the menu online but it didn't appear to be an option when ordering takeout. Too bad. Instead, I tried the braised lamb gnocchi. SKIP IT. I'm glad I didn't chip a tooth biting into bones that slipped through the cracks. Note for those ordering for delivery: If you deselect "contactless delivery" to ensure a proper handoff, don't expect it to be honored. We told server and they brought us a new burger. Same issues and didn't even touch it. Told the server and nothing was done. This was a terrible experience! We had reservations for 12 people in the semi private room. We had checked the place out to have a nice quiet family dinner, after a baby baptism. We were then moved to the main room. The whole restaurant was full of Georgia Tech Football Pep Squad, Mascot, Supporters, GT Tech Athletic department, etc. It was ridiculously loud! The only way it could have been worse would be if the Georgia Tech Marching Band came marching through it. The owner and manager should have cancelled us and comped us for a later meal. That would have been a better outcome. We cannot recommend this restaurant. However, the owner/manager apologized profusely, which we appreciated. But it was too late! We were very sad that this experience ruined a wonderful, joyful day. read more

Maybe this was an isolated incident, but the service was not up to par for what you are paying. First of all, our server really killed our experience, she had attitude every-time we asked her questions and didn't seem to know the menu. I ordered the Duck Risotto, and when I asked her for more details her responses filled with attitude, like I should already know the menu. The bartender who brought my drink, seemed to be the only one who seemed to know the menu and capable of giving recommendations and knowing the menu. Once the food arrived, we didn't see her until both of our plates were finished, at which point a different waitress came out to inform us our waiter was gone (?). For the cherry on top, you can hear the hostess stand gossiping about customers on the way out, always wonderful. Almost $100 for our waiter to take our order, drop it off, ignore us, and leave. I understand things happening and maybe everyone was having a bad day, but you could get better service at Mcdonald's for 1/10th the price. I hope this was a one time incident and that whoever else goes has a better experience since the food and drinks were good! read more

The drive in and parking was terrible (yeah okay potholes from the winter weather fine and snow covering spots because of the plow trucks yeah ok) but with that limited space I think something should be done. Ie pay to have snow removed rather than pushed. I had preordered take out and the restaurant was busy for sure! The bar noise was taking over a little too much but it's fine since I didn't plan to stay long. Everything about it screamed bar and I love myself some good bar food. Elevated bar food is even better! I had ordered the duck breast and my mom got the salmon. The risotto was WET for both of us. Luckily we live close so it didn't end up soggy but it was waaay more wet than a risotto should be. There was literally a pool of runny liquid! I was able to choose how I wanted the duck to be cooked so I chose medium rare of course! Ignoring the plating since it was take out, the breast was... small. Nearly $40 for that breast that's smaller than my hand? (I wear kids gloves BTW) What a rip off! And what's worse is the duck has parts that were rare and other parts that were well done. Lik.. huh??? Are you cooking this where you smash your burgers?? Why'd you even bother asking me how I want it cooked? For a 3 money sign restaurant with these reviews I was extremely disappointed. My party starting showing up only to find that the restaurant chose to host a private function instead, leaving me and my party out in the cold. Went for Saturday brunch a couple of months ago. Nice ambience, great service BUT the food and drinks we ordered were pretty bad. My friend and I both ordered Bellinis and the classic Eggs Benedict. The cocktails had no peach flavor at all, only prosecco. We could have lived with that but the eggs were not poached, they were basically raw. I know they are supposed to be poached/runny (we can tolerate very runny) but the second our forks touched the eggs, they COMPLETELY disintegrated. I never send food back but this was not only unappealing, it was a health hazard. The waitress asked the kitchen to redo my friend's Benedict but I decided not to chance it and ordered a scrambled cheesy egg instead. Went for brunch today, their first weekend offering brunch and lunch. Got the grilled tuna salad. Fresh ingredients, very flavorful and a decent serving. Hubby got the salmon Benedict that was really good too. Wish they had an espresso machine for a cappuccino, but regular coffee was decent.
