Great food! I tried the Brussels sprouts which were probably the best Brussels sprouts I've ever had. I also tried the fried pickles which were made delicious by the chip lite dipping sauce. A great restaurant in the Auburndale area. The crisped Brussels sprouts are a true standout with the delicious chili soy glaze. The wings, chicken sandwich, and burgers are also solid. The regular fries had no flavor and were also a bit limp. The best items we ordered were the wings and burger. Excellent. We also ordered a Cesar salad that was average at best. The food came out slow. The server did come by to apologize or make an excuse stating that the kitchen crew was new. Again I would return. The music was enjoyable and not too loud. Good vibes. Very typical American spot but nothing to call home about. Service was quick and friendly, and the place was super clean. Food was alright. Fish tacos (appetizer) were enough for a light dinner, but I felt they were missing something- cilantro or cream maybe? They were also on a single corn tortilla which fell apart immediately. Not a place that is good with handling allergies. My wife explained bell peppers is an allergy of hers and she took a bite in mac and cheese where she could tell it was being used. They said "oh it was just a little bit". Lack of preparation on the cooks where they should know what is in their own food and service lacks accountability. read more

I came here tonight with my boyfriend to grab dinner. Location is great, just a few minutes walk from the Auburndale, commuter rail station and easy to get to from the pike. This kind of reminded me of a smaller version of Ward 8 that's in Boston. Seating is cool. We got a booth behind the bar and they had games on and live music. We ordered the spicy cauliflower to start off with. This initially came out cold, which they apologized for and quickly brought out a fresh order for us which tasted way better. We both got burgers. I got the smokehouse burger and my boyfriend got the BYO burger, with the short ribs and avocado added on. The burgers both tasted good, especially the one with the short rib meat added on it we both did ask for hamburgers to be medium rare but both came out well done. Still good burgers though. As the night went on, it was a little bit more difficult for us to get a hold of our server, but that's because she was busy working at the bar as well. I think they're probably just short staffed because every interaction with the wait staff, including the manager was great. We'll likely come back here and try this place again, but will probably sit at the bar next time. read more

A solid restaurant serving classic American food in the neighborhood. We only ordered takeout so I'm not sure how the restaurant looks inside/the service of it but I was pleasantly surprised by the quality, taste, and portions of our takeout meal! I got the chicken sandwich with fries and it was delicious. They had some type of mustard base special sauce thrown in to the sandwich too. Music to my ears. It was bold of us to order takeout as our first move here, since takeout can often go wrong for different ways to make you not want to go back -- soggy food, long wait time, something about the order getting missed up, and the list goes on. This was not the case at ward 4! A great takeout option, and now I can't wait to sit down and try it one of these days. It'll be even more delicious hot out the kitchen! read more

This is a wonderful restaurant with good potential, I just do not think that the food is up to the potential that this place has. The first time I went, I got the steak and it was super difficult to chew and swallow. The next time, I got the salmon and it was very dry. It also came on a burnt piece of wood and looks like it got taken out of the trash. The server told me that it was supposed to be "cute " And I am all for unique presentations, but this was really unappealing. I am gluten-free and dairy free and there were not many options or alternatives on the menu for me. I don't think that this is a very accommodating place for people with food allergies and sensitivities. The service was OK, the restaurant is quite loud and busy which I can understand would put pressure on the servers. The first time I went it was quiet and the waiter tried to take away my companions dish far in advance of me even finishing my meal. It bothered my companion so much that he did not want to return. I really want this restaurant to succeeded, but so far I am left feeling disappointed about the food mostly. read more

The patio is closed this year. When the manager is away no one checks the restaurant's voicemail so no one responded to my request for an outdoor table. The hostess and waiter were pleasant. The room is very noisy. Hubby liked the Buffalo cauliflower but it's not really my thing. He liked his black bean sandwich. My ward 4 burger was tasty and the fries were excellent. Had a starter of the roasted Brussels sprouts (with apple pork belly and sweet chili sauce (very lightly sauced). Absolutely done well. Cleaned the bowl. Will have to make those at home. For dinner: fish and chips and the scallops with pea risotto. Yes, we would definitely eat here again. Then dessert. Dessert not on the menu and changes. I noted dishes stacked on next table while people were finished eating & sipping on new drinks. Have you ever had a burger that was wet? Not moist, not juicy, but wet! For better or for worse, now I have. I'm sorry to say I was not a fan. Because they are rather new, and the only "fail" was the burger, I am going to be nice and award three stars instead of two. The verbose review I am known for! I was able to try: - The Dale (drink) - Prosciutto wrapped pear (app from specials menu) - Ward 4 Burger - Medium Rare - Brown Butter Cake The Dale was refreshing more than anything. Whilst not too boozy, I could feel the light presence of lemongrass within. It also had the perfect, delicate sweetness that elevates the drink even more! Prosciutto wrapped pear was an interesting combination! The sweetness of the pear played nicely with the saltiness and savoriness of the prosciutto! The balsamic glaze helped tie everything together and the arugula added just a hint of freshness. My critique with is one of texture. The pear was rather firm, and when combined with the softness of the prosciutto, the contrast was less than ideal. The Ward 4 Burger was a failure on most if not all fronts. I will give them kudos for actually cooking the burger to a medium-rare. Too many places hear medium and cook well done (hence why I order below my actual preference.) After a small, initial burst of juiciness, it was all downhill from there. The beef felt very dry and seemed to be devoid of seasoning. Meanwhile, the tomato(?) gave this burger a less-than-pleasant wet feeling when biting. It wasn't even a vegetable-y moisture, but more like straight water! As for the other toppings, their flavors got lost along the way. The caramelized onions made themselves slightly known, but contrasted against a hockey puck, they were considerably muted. Same goes for the BBQ sauce. As for the blue-cheese, this otherwise pungent and powerful stuff only had a cameo in one bite. That's it. The fries that came with the burger were great though! Hot, fresh, tasty, and nicely salted. The dessert was the real star that day! The cake had a marvelous texture, great level of sweetness, and the roasted apples and caramel did wonders to add some more dimensions of flavor and savoriness. The real MVP here folks! As for the location, it was clean, rustic-ish, and the service was kind, attentive, and speedy! read more

We stared the meal with chips and dip (queso and guac) and then ordered a power bowl with grilled chicken, smokehouse burger, build your own burger and fish and chips for our main meal. All great. The burgers were more of a medium well than medium rare but very good. The sauce drizzled over the chicken on the power bowl was excellent. Good sized portion of fish, too. The variety of options was great and the member of our party that is gluten free had plenty of options. Most of their menu is able to be accommodated for someone gluten free. The service was outstanding. The waiter was attentive and filled our drinks without being asked. Parking is limited but we lucked out as someone was leaving when we arrived. The restaurant is as pictured on this site. The lighting was fine. We happened to go on a live music night which maid it a little harder with conversation but it wasn't so loud you couldn't hear it just meant talking louder than you normally would at a restaurant. read more

Let me tell you.. I was so excited to see they offer prime rib on Facebook! Unfortunately, when I got the prime rib I ordered it medium rare and it was overcooked, very chewy. I ask for a second plate and again, still the same temperature. I think they don't put it on the menu or have a specials night menu with Prime Rib just because they do not want any "Special request" like mine. Prime rib should be soft and not chewy. We ordered the Mac n cheese, which came out cold (but in a weirdly piping hot plate?) and managed to be flavorless. The minute the shortrib came out, I knew there was something wrong. Sunny, open bar with some sports playing on the large Tvs, total went sideways on my eating healthy routine and ordered some Thai Peanut wings. OM.G. G...God! Absolutely delicious. They were not quite open (3:50pm), but they allowed us to sit and wait for the 4pm opening while they finished prep for the evening meal. So on hospitality, a big 5 stars! We also enjoyed the food. Their French onion soup was comparable to my first experience many many years ago in a French bistro in Toronto, which I had never before been able to match. We tried again a few months later still not that great and my wife and friends tried it a few months after that and still not that great. The drinks are weak And the food is best.
