COVID-19 DoorDash Edition! I saw this pop up on DoorDash recently, the menu looked tasty and we decided to try it out. We couldn't decide on what to get so we ordered: - Filet Mignon Saltado Shaken Fries with Rice - Garlic Noodles - Popcorn Chicken - Spicy Shrimp & Pork Wontons I'll start by saying that everything was packaged very well, with great presentation, especially for being a DoorDash order. The first thing I had to taste was the Filet Mignon in the Saltado and it was definitely high-quality meat. It was super tender, flavorful, juicy and huge pieces. They didn't skimp on the meat! The garlic noodles and wontons also tasted handmade and very fresh. The kids loved the popcorn chicken. This was an awesome meal and great find! Their house garlic noodles with salmon was so delicious. The chili sauce that came with it on the side added a bit of spice and really tied it all together. I'm almost sure it was pre-made from somewhere and reheated at the restaurant. Has a pizza place style quality. Also the wings were partially cold in the center, but fully cooked so it evens out. Garlic Noodles were solid, the wife loved the texture of the noodles and flavor overall. The short rib version is cooked in chili fish sauce which complements the garlicky noodles well. Stone Pot with short ribs were decent. Was expecting a natural beef broth taste similar to pho but it is more similar to mushroom powder seasoning. Pretty enjoyable, everything in the pot itself worked together nicely. Meat was tender. Now the service on the other hand... I haven't written a review in such a long time, but after this encounter I felt the need. Walked into the restaurant during dead hours. The wife and I were the only ones there. The waitress seems to be eating a meal or on her break. The minute she saw us, she greeted us very coldly. Visibly annoyed that she had to seat us and take our order. Her upset face was the first thing we saw as we walked in the door. While eating another guy came in and man was she angry. Luckily for her he only ordered a drink. Here's the kicker. While she was standing at the register, she said to her coworker in Vietnamese how annoying it was for us to come in, and the other guy right after. It was a "headache". How do I know that? Even though I do not look like it, I'm actually Vietnamese and understand the language fully. It put a damper on the meal and the cold annoyed stare coming from her made the experience a little disheartening. Supporting local business during these times is important, and we must stick together. Will I come back... probably at a different time aha. A message to the waitress, I understand it's inconvenient to serve people while you're eating. But you shouldn't blame the customers for your company's lack of planning and coverage. I wanted to try this Vox Kitchen knock-off for a long time and finally got a chance to do so. Tried the Stone Bowl Bone-In Short Rib Soup (Korean Galbitang) as a test. And although it was a valiant effort, it left something to be desired, as the broth was surprisingly bland. It sure didn't LOOK like it would be bland, but it kept begging the question, "what's missing here?" It was basically underseasoned, while there seemed to be an overabundance of black pepper. All they need to do is add more salt or soy sauce and it would make it so much better. And this is coming from a guy who avoids salty food every chance he gets. The short rib itself was great though, with the meat falling off the bone easily as it should. I would rate the dish 6 out of 10. read more

The place is new, we had to try it. The menu consists of base ingredients and it's up to you to customize the toppings. I tried the entree "garlic noodles" and it was the bomb. You have to mix in the jalapeño cream sauce to give it a little spicy kick. I added filet mignon as the protein, it's not in the menu yet but the chef recommends it. It's a perfect food for the cold weather. Tried the passion fruit iced tea and the lychee iced tea, I'm a little biased as I do love lychee. But if you want more tangy zing to it, go for the passion fruit iced tea (if the seeds don't bother you) Over all it was a good experience, I would definitely come back to try the loaded fries. The place is small so I recommend doing a take out, the place does regular sanitation and follows safety procedures. read more

Found this place on Yelp and could see why it is highly recommended. The food is outstanding. We were happy with each dish we ordered. The food was well made and fresh. We had the salmon and fried rice. The salmon had a nice char on the skin and the rice was very good. Also had the shrimp and rice. The shrimp were large and perfectly cooked. Server was friendly and place was clean. It is located in a strip mall with a small space for dine in option. Nothing fancy but cute and clean. Today after reading the good posted reviews, we tried the Garlic Noodles with Filet Mignon for lunch. We are not big eaters but perfect to split 1 order. As mentioned in the good reviews, the tasty garlic noodles were seasoned perfectly and the filet mignon was very soft. We'll try other dishes soon. read more

Tasty twist on Vietnamese food. We got the garlic chicken wings, spicy wonton, spicy noodles, filet mignon saltado with garlic noodles, a side of fried rice and a passion fruit tea (lots of fruit and not too sweet which is what we like). We added a fried egg on the garlic noodles and it was cooked perfectly with a runny yolk. All of the food was very well executed and seasoned. My only complaint is the wontons got very stuck together, but still very tasty with the spicy sauce, which isn't too spicy but still flavorful. read more

So glad to see a restaurant with this type of Asian fusion closer to where I live, versus having to brave the traffic of I-5 going towards Anaheim for 25 mins just to get a good garlic noodle or garlic chicken wings. Delicious. We went on a Friday night at 6:30. Only 4 other tables while we were there, and we were spread out nicely in the small restaurant. Plus many take out orders. We ordered the spicy wontons, lomo saltado with steak and garlic noodles, and the stone pot bowl with noodles and beef ribs. It was all really good. The beef was tender. The soup was very hot but delicious when it cooled. Overall, it was great but also on the expensive side for dinner. We spent almost $25 per person. We wanted to try something different this weekend and was intrigued by the menu at Fam's. The menu is like modern Chinese kitchen meets Peruvian. We got the Loma Saltado with garlic noodle. What a great idea ! The noodle on its own was super - it was garlicky just the way I like it. The sirloin in the saltado was flavorful and tender. We also ordered the spicy wonton and that was tasty. The only item I was not a fan of was the green sauce that comes with the Loma saltado. It was a cream based green sauce which felt heavy and unhealthy. I think the traditional green sauce would go much better. Fam's kitchen was also pretty pricey. Two Loma Saltado and the spicy wonton together was $55. The portions were definitely large and enough to last two days. Anyway, this place was a surprise hit and I'll definitely be back. read more

I was craving a lomo saltado, and my boyfriend has been wanting to try this place, so we gave it a shot. It was really tasty! The sauce on the fries are to die for - I could eat those fries all day! We even took it to go and it was still good when I ate it at home - probably a good 20-30 minutes after the meal was prepared. My only complaint is the beef was a bit on the chewier side and didn't have much flavor on its own. However, eating it with the fries fixed that! The fries had a hint of sweetness and the top layer kept their crispiness really well! The softer fries mixed in with the sauce were still delicious. The filet mignon pieces were incredibly tender and flavorful. Overall the dish wasn't overly salty or soggy like many others I've had. The garlic noodles had the perfect balance of butter, garlic, and cheesiness. With the upgrades (garlic noodles + filet mignon) it's on the pricier end but well worth it. I would go here several times a week if I didn't live so far. So every time I find myself near Lake Forest I come here. Great prices, great portion sizes, and quick service. The food is absolutely incredible. Very flavorful and the meats are especially yummy. Had their corn cheese that was unbelievable, it's slightly sweet and comes out nice and hot. The spicy shrimp and pork wontons are amazing. The garlic noodles are amazing, and their fries are amazing. Have yet to try something there that was meh.
