A relative has been a dancer here for years and is now also an instructor. This studio welcomes young people across the youth age range. They routinely perform recitals that draw huge crowds to their varied performance venues. We have gone to many performances and every time, we have enjoyed ourselves. The production values are surprisingly high and the volunteer personnel helping patrons find seats or handle other logistical requests are s testament to how well run their operations are. We attended this studio for several years. We consistently encountered billing issues, received unprofessional responses for the simplest of inquiries and endured insensitive remarks/behaviors from the studio owner. The owner's lack of empathy and patience when dealing with children was shocking considering children are her primary customers. Her lack of professionalism, combined with an alarming level of cultural insensitivity, compounded our dissatisfaction. Our experience highlighted a lack of interest for those outside the studios perceived inner circle. These issues, coupled with the owner's attitude, led to our extreme dissatisfaction and ultimate decision to seek a more inclusive and supportive dance environment. read more

We attended this studio for 4 years. The first 2 years was great and the last 2 were a nightmare. Billing issues, unprofessional responses to inquiries, and staff lacked cultural sensitivity. Making inappropriate comments to ethnic children about their hair. Billing errors can occur with tuition and even with refunds the studio acknowledges they are responsible for. As a parent I could not ask a question if the owner felt I was challenging her. With that she thought it was best I do not patronize her business. Unstoppable is their motto but yet they elevate some and leave others behind - by not investing in talent equitably. I am still awaiting a refund that was promised over 6 weeks ago. read more

This dance studio is the absolute WORST!!! The level and quality of dance instruction is subpar to most studios in the area. My daughter learned that the hard way after spending years with this studio only to find out that every other place was teaching much more advanced techniques. The differences are dramatic, like amateurs versus professional instructors. Don't waste your time or money, your child will be left behind their peers. Even worse than the quality is the unprofessional and truly obnoxious attitude of ownership and management. They exhibit no customer service skills and clearly are only interested in the money, NOT the art of dance. read more

District Dance Company is a top notch dance institution with highly experienced professionals leading the charge. I am particularly impressed with their innovative practice of the involvement of the older students being hands on with the younger students under teacher supervision. It makes me think of an adage I often heard in grad school, "Lift as we climb". My oldest daughter (age 7) was recruited by the amazing Ms. Angie and over the summer did her first session at District Dance in the Mini-hop class under Mr. Fernando and she flourished. She is a shy kid but DDC has a of connecting with youth that brings out the best. Not only is my 7 year old returning but my 5 year old will anxiously be joining her in the fall at DDC. Thank you to management, staff and all of the supportive helping hand students for the role that they play in my daughter's lives. It takes a village to teach all of the valuable lessons learned. I would recommend this to anyone who has a child that enjoys to dance. SN: I truly enjoyed the recital this summer in Frederick. As a father, it was special for me to see the "daddy daughter" dance. Love this studio and their message. My daughter takes recreational technique classes here and is on the competition team. It is a warm, encouraging environment and I've seen her grow here beyond just becoming a better dancer. Her confidence is boosted, she has a whole new family of friends outside of school and heart-melting relationships with the teachers. This is a special place! read more

My experience with this company was a nightmare, if it were an option I would not even give thing place a single star. I signed my daughter up for ballet and the teacher cared more about the kids getting the steps perfect rather than them learning basic skills and letting them have fun while they do it. Your money will be wasted, your kids won't learn much, and you will not be valued as a customer/client. I have a lot of friends with kids around the same age, I would have loved to recommend this place to them, but I guess I will have to find a new place. Avoid at all costs. read more

My daughter has been going to district dance since she was 2 and we first moved to Germantown. I can not say enough how great our experience has been. Her teacher Miss Taylor is great with the little dancers. She makes them feel comfortable and confident. I have watched as even the most shy dancers who started out standing against the wall end up on stage at a recital. My daughter is going through a transition in starting preschool so she cries when she is away from me. Everyone at District Dance from the owner Melissa to the junior helpers for the class have been so considerate of our situation. The girls learn ballet terminology and positions and they even have time in class to show off their dance moves. This dance school is awesome. read more

This school is a disappointment, the school and teachers are ok at best. The owner Melissa is very unprofessional and rude. She yells at parents and hung the phone up on me. They may be cheaper than other dance companies, but it is not worth the headache. I would NOT recommend this school. read more

I am very unpleased with the way the owner handled my situation. I signed my daughter up for POMs and paid the tuition in full before realizing my daughter could have tried the class for free before committing. We tried the class and it was not what she expected, plus she was several years older than the others in the class. So we decided to try another class which she did not feel comfortable since she was the only one who did not bring a friend on this "free trial" class" - Keep in mind I paid $143.00. When asked for a refund since we did give it a try and wasn't satisfied, I was told that she took up a slot in this class to where they turned others away (BS) because she never even came to the class. The owner settled to credit me Half the amount. The people are friendly here but keep in mind that you do not want to pay anything upfront!!! I wouldn't take her back there. Highly recommend Xtreme Acro & Cheer in Rockville MD - more $$ but the owner is fabulous and it is definitely worth it if you can afford it. read more

At just 2 years old my daughter knows basic ballet steps and cant stop showing us what she's learned in class. She has fun but isn't just running around randomly to music like some other studios we visited before deciding to come here. The teacher was great and age appropriate; mixing up fun free expression, instruments/rhythm with technique and teaching. Offering commendation, praise, and direction. We travel a little ways but it's worth it. Additionally, the recital was professional, organized and the kids all had a wonderful time. read more
