I ordered this delivery (March 2021) and my tacos came still very warm and yummy. Don't let the pictures fool you. I think maybe my tacos got a little squished in the to go bad, but they tasted so much better than they look! They were so good. I included the picture, though, because you can see that my tacos were really filled with toppings. I really liked how the ordering site allowed me to click a vegan button and on the receipt there were big letters that said "NO EGGS, NO MAYO." It's the things like this that show they care just a little more. The chips and salsa were very yummy as well. I would definitely revisit. read more

I found myself riding through college park and remembered seeing a new district taco. I've never actually eaten a district taco but I've heard so much about the other locations that I was intrigued. This place in Riverside does not disappoint! The service for a Friday evening was quick and easy. The place wasn't packed to capacity but there were plenty of people inside eating all types and variations of tacos. When I walked in it smelled like taco heaven and I was definitely blessed by the delicious fish tacos I had. Next time I go I will order some guacamole but for now the two fish tacos were perfect. I took a page out of someone else's book and added pinco de Gallo, sour cream, and one other thing I can't really remember but it was awesome! read more

I've eaten at District Taco for years. I used to have lunch at the DC location when I worked downtown. They had a pretty good gig going- great tasting food, large portions, decent prices, and good service. They expanded, and sadly have cut corners and gone down hill. I ate at their Riverdale location the other day with my daughter- she used to love District Taco also, but our order of cheese sauce and chips, 3 tacos, and the kids meal was very mediocre. The chips were cool, and not as tasty as before. The cheese sauce was warm, but cooled off quickly as we ate- somebody wasn't keeping the temperature up behind the counter. My daughter's quasedilla with pork was almost revolting- she couldn't finish it. They have changed their ingredients and use low-quality pork now. My tacos also seemed bland and were only partially warm. Didn't this crew of workers know how to serve things hot, like I USED to get?! The service was also pretty poor- the cilantro we asked to be put on the side was stuffed in the cheese sauce, and the lady at the front desk wasn't much help when we were having trouble with the automated touch pad to order. They've really de-personalized service here- order on your own, your name is called, they push a tray from the counter out to you- no smiles, no thank you's, no "have a nice day" like it used to be. Also, when I asked one of the young ladies why they did away with the salsa bar (which was great, but they eliminated it, and probably blamed COVID on that), she shrugged and practically threw me two containers of salsa. I asked how spicy it was, and she said "strong". "I'd like the green sauce please" I asked. "We don't have that any more" she said, and then, again, practically threw me a lighter colored sauce. "What's this?" I asked. "Mild", she said, and then looks at me like I'm asking too much in wanting green sauce. The bill was nearly $30, I actually felt a bit ill after the meal (probably from all that stress in trying to get green sauce, as well as low-quality food), and I absolutely felt like I'll never be returning here. District Taco, you've become like too many food chains- starting out great, and now you're just another money-making machine. That's fine, I'll head a little farther down on Route 1 and get some quality Latin food, and I bet they have some green sauce too! read more

The Only Review You Need To Read: In fairness, this review is based on my first and only visit to this restaurant, so I'll say some positive things. First; download their app. You get $2.00 off your first order (why not?) and when you pay through their app, you accumulate points for discounts on future purchases. That's for one star. They have outlets/USB ports at every table (just bring your own cord). That's for another star. And I was intrigued by the selection of fancy fountain sodas (I'm generally not a soda drinker, but on rare occasions, I will go for a black cherry soda made with pure cane sugar). Another star which explains the three star rating. Now, as far as the food goes, what I got (basically a burrito bowl with barbacoa meat), meh. Not horrible; just kind of bland and lacking any distinction. I'd be open to amending my review if I tried a different item on their menu and was completely blown away by it (maybe they do have other better offerings). However, before I gave it a second chance, there would have to be a compelling reason to get me back in there again, like perhaps coming with someone else who really wanted to go. Food: Love this place for their huge tacos. What makes this place special and a place I will continue to come back to our their choices in tacos, the variety in their menu and the unlimited toppings. While taste wise I have had better tacos before you can get as many toppings as you want on your tacos and choose from their many different meats. They also provide many different salsas as well Atmosphere: spacious and clean, and friendly staff willing to help you navigate through their menu. Price: while definitely not cheap I still think this place is a good bang for your buck. My tacos ended up being like mini burritos and 3 for $9 is not too bad for tacos especially big filling ones. DT used to be the spot, but while the tacos still taste great and the meats are on point, we're consistently left feeling that it's gone way downhill. The tacos are tiny and I mean TINY for the price. 6 tiny tacos and a side of guac for $40?!?! And then the unbelievable stinginess with the salsa is the breaking point. They used to have a salsa bar pre-Covid. It was the best thing about DT. I understand why it was taken away but not why it hasn't returned and especially not why they hesitate to give you more than one tiny cup. Stop rationing the salsa and return to the tacos of yore. read more

If you're looking for authentic tacos, this is not where you'll find them. The chicken tacos I had was basically something I could have whipped up at home and probably with a better touch. Chicken was dry and the flour tortillas just broke thru. I will say that pricing is reasonable, I got what I paid for...basic tacos. I will say that there queso was outstanding, I would probably come back just for that. Service was great, I was there at lunch and the line moved fairly quickly for the lunch hour rush. Que Rico!! Now, I wouldn't be able to call myself a true Washingtonian (DCist?) if this was the first time I'd eaten at District Taco, but I felt like this particular store warranted a 5 star review. Even though we stopped in like 45 minutes to closing with like 3 other people in the srore, the staff was friendly and attentive. The food was all also hot and fresh; even the tortilla chips for the queso were warm. The queso wasn't the nasty end-of-day sludge one could expect for a $3 side at 9:30 at night, but was hot, gooey, fresh, & delicious. Their slaw is tangy and super crunchy, the fish was cooked well, and the burrito filling was very nicely balanced which I know we all worry about when we don't get to carefully orchestrate the construction à la Chipotle. Bonus #1: Boylan soda (there is NOTHING better than black cherry soda, especially as a treat for a pregnant lady :p) Bonus #2: a salsa bar complete with diced fresh jalapeños, onions, and cilantro District Taco is 100% your best bet when it comes to fast casual Mexican in DC - props to this location specifically for being on top of their game, even at closing time. read more

I was a first-timer. The ambiance in the restaurant was very nice. The service was at minimal subpar. The young lady at the register could not understand what I was asking for. I simply requested a sample of the chicken and steak. Instead she kept trying to help me order. I had to call another employee over to get help. Although they watched the whole situation unfold but didn't offer assistance. The samples of chicken and steak were good but cold. I also sampled the fish and it was cold. Against my better judgement, I thought if the stirred it up there would be some kind of warmth, so I ended up purchasing a steak burrito, Fish taco and chicken quesadilla along with some chips and queso. The first thing we noticed was that NONE of the food was hot. We know that making it a burrito with lettuce or pico would cool it down, but the meat, chicken, and steak were cold. The queso was cold. If you are looking for tacos, there are plenty of taquerias auténticas que son riquísimo in the area. District Taco is not one of them. District Taco is Chipotle's poor coastal cousin. It isn't that they are bad, per se - it is just that there is so much better available in the neighborhood. They mean well, but their offerings were bland and underwhelming; an East Coast interpretation of Mexican food. That said, the staff was polite, the eating area was spotless, the kitchen was fast, and the portions were reasonable for the price. These things are important in any restaurant. Their cane-based soda dispenser was a nice touch, and the salsa bar narrowly brings their rating across the threshold to three stars. read more

This new Taco place opened up by the new Whole Foods and a bunch of other fancy places. Good choice of location! The interiors are nice. They also have an art dispenser that looks like an old cigarette dispenser. There were three of us and we got 3 fish tacos, a burrito bowl and a huevos rancheros, which was good and sufficient for the three of us. The only negative, which took off a star, was the rudeness of the person behind the counter. She spoke too fast for me. Yes, I am a non-native English speaker, but I have never faced this problem in my last six years in the US. She was noticeably annoyed when we took a few seconds longer to say our order. We wanted to get the special '3 Fish Tacos' and asked for one of those, which she misinterpreted that as one Fish Taco. That too pissed her off. This is just a Chipotle ripoff that can't serve warm food. It was pretty bland and unimpressive. The counter is set up weirdly, the clerk asks you what toppings you want before you can see the ingredient trays. So you are ordering blind. Then you walk around the corner and watch as they ladle weird amounts of stuff onto your plate. The meat was dry, bland, and luke warm. The tortillas were cold. District Taco is decent, but Hyattsville is a hotbed of superior, authentic taquerias. If you are a fan of those good street tacos, you will be disappointed with District Taco. I tried the Al Pastor, Barbacoa, and Carne Asada. Most of the meat was overly dry and the pastor came with far too much pineapple. The corn tortillas were unique, and pretty tasty, but got soggy and fell apart. The natural cane sugar sodas are great. All in all, the tacos were alright, but I'll stick with Taqueria La Placita in the future. read more

Very underwhelming. I got the breakfast taco, the Al pastor, and the carne asada. CONS: - Tortillas were all cold. I'm talking splitting when folded, not warm, tortillas. This made for a very overwhelmingly grainy textured taco off the bat. - breakfast taco was severely lacking in potato and the cheese was not melted. - carne asada was overcooked and chewy. - Al pastor was borderline gross. Once I took off the CANNED PINEAPPLE and it's overly sweet can juices, along with one of the uncooked tortillas, I was finally able to taste the Al Pastor Pork. I just don't get the hype. I first tried District Taco at a DC location and thought the tacos were tiny (literally thought to myself "is this a taco for toddlers?"), the meat was dry and flavorless, and the experience itself was bland. I hardly write off restaurants after one bad experience, however, which is why I found myself at the College Park location. And much to no one's surprise- nothing had changed. I ordered the pulled pork (carnitas) tacos done the American Way (in DC, I had the chicken and pork, both done the American Way). Maybe it's the toppings I choose or maybe it's a particularly large coincidence but these tacos were just as bland in CP as they were in DC. The pulled pork was awful! I would have better appreciated some spices, sauces, anything really, to add some flavor. The tacos were about the size of three of my fingers- barely the length of my palm. The toppings were pretty good however: fresh tomatoes and lettuce! Their only saving grace was the chips and guac, pineapple Jarritos, and price (3 for $9 is a pretty good deal). The location is nice, very new. You have plenty of seating indoors and out. I had the fish tacos with corn tortillas. A little different from my authentic Mexican place but very pleased. The dishes was good. My children had the. Chicken quesadilla, and the portion was very fulfilling. My youngest got a kids cheese quesadilla which brought black beans and rice. Online ordering is frustrating here, avoid at all costs! I ordered an hour ago, drove here and it still not ready. They confirmed online it would be ready a half hour ago. Also, they consistently offer $2 off your order if you download the app and then the clerks feign ignorance when you try to cash it and it doesn't work with online orders. Service here always takes far too long (much longer than DC location). The food is good, albeit kind of pricey. The staff needs to be revamped. Great food, even better service! Went for breakfast and the food was amazing. As we were eating the manager came to our table and apologized for our food taking too long to come out. He said it took 13 minutes rather than the usual 8 and refunded us 50% of what we paid. We were shocked because it seemed like quick service but I guess they have very high standards! I have to agree with other people and what they have said about online ordering. Coming from a four star review it's pretty hard to go down to 2. I placed my order for 5:30 PM which gave them over two hours to complete my order. I got there a little after 530 there were only a few people in the place and my order hadn't even started to get prepared. Long story short I waited until 6pm for my food. When they knew I was sitting there waiting for it, I saw a bag and asked if it was mine and the girl said no. In fact it was mine, and it wasn't until I went up and asked to read the order that I showed my receipt. Obviously it was not a pleasant experience and to make matters worse when I got home with the carry out my order was incorrect. The food is fine which I said in my other review it's decent American Mexican food but I will go other places that are a little more reliable and have friendly workers. I would say it's worth a shot to eat in, I liked the food. But do NOT order online. read more
