I thought going to a pricier salon I would get something awesome.... meh! At best! I had washed my hair before I went, and the stylist cut 2 inch trim off the ends. I asked to just have my hair straightened with no style ( mainly to make make sure the cut was straight) she lightly straightened my hair( I have curly & frizzy) I left with very puffy hair. And it cost me $80 for a trim Con - $$$$ - half straightened - the cut wasn't awesome Pro - received a few cards for money off your next visit Probably will not return. read more

Two Words: Run away. A more detailed description is that not only did I not get the colour or cut that I requested from the employee Andrew (the usage of the term hair stylist would be an insult to any other person within that profession), I was treated to the worst customer service experience imaginable. After being referred to this salon by an acquaintance and knowing that before New Year's Eve (December 29) it would be busy, I booked my appointment for chunky, defined light brown lowlights, beige highlights and a cut a month in advance. When I arrived I had very clearly explained to Andrew exactly what I wanted with pictures for reference. It wasn't complicated. Although perhaps he had tried his best, customers do not return for mediocrity. Included in this review is a screen shot of the back of my head where a large section of my natural hair can be clearly defined from the very dark colour Andrew used on the rest of my hair. This large section was completely omitted from the colouring process, looked sloppy and ill matched to the rest of my hair. I asked for chunky high and lowlights. What I ended up with was almost completely dark hair (except for the large patch of my natural hair he omitted) with minimal lowlights scattered through out. As he was putting in the dark colour, I questioned Andrew on if it was going to be as dark as I was seeing because that is not what I had asked for. He assured me that it would be a warmer, lighter colour. After the colour was applied to my hair, Andrew told me that because the consultation and colouring process took too long and he had another appointment, he did not have the time to cut my hair. I was given one of two options: 1)come back at 8 pm (6hours later) or 2)have someone else cut it. As I had planned my schedule around this appointment and I was flying out for a New Year's Eve celebration early the next morning, I had no choice but to choose the latter option. Like I said earlier, I had booked my appointment well in advance with a exact description of what my hair was before and what exactly what I wanted done to it. It wasn't rocket science and I didn't ask for anything beyond what I had booked for. Although the apprentice who stocks the shelves and sweeps the floor was a very nice lady, I did not book this appointment with her. I wish now that I had because I am certain she could have done better than this oaf. As I sat there insulted at being blown off by a rude little troglodyte and gawking in horror at the mess that was now my hair, Andrew came over to look at his handy work. When I had said that the colour was too dark, he didn't seem at all surprised and offered if I wanted to come back the following week, he would fix it. What good does next week do for me when I was having it done for New Year's Eve? I asked the cleaning lady to just trim because I didn't want to chance anymore disasters. Upon leaving and paying my bill, (once again I felt I had no option but to pay because of the waiver of agreement you sign during the consultation) I spoke to the manager who was very apologetic for my experience and gave me a $25 gift card towards a future colour appointment. I threw the card in the mall garbage with the hopes that no unlucky soul would ever use it. As I was given two options, I will give readers of this review two options as well before having their hair done by Andrew at Diva Salon: 1) shave your head before seeing him so there is nothing for him to destroy and disappoint you with or 2) buy $30 dollars of Clairol at a Drug store because you will have a better customer service experience and save $130.00 dollars. read more

Very disappointed. Checked out this salon based off of the great reviews and booked a cut with a stylist. Although she was very nice, I repeated several times that I wanted my hair thinned out even more as I have long thick hair, and she would proceed to take a snip or two then ask me if that was better. Eventually got tired of asking it to be thinned out more after asking 5 times and said it was fine. $75 for not even a mediocre haircut. I received a follow up call the next day asking how things went and if I was satisfied, I stayed very clearly I was quite disappointed and debated going back to get it fixed, but I figured I would experience the same thing again. I was thinking about getting a full colour here but this experience has deterred me quite strongly. Don't recommend for longer, thick hair types. read more

Update: Got my eyelashes tinted here recently. I didn't really know what to expect but the service was quite good. The girl was constantly letting me know what she was doing and telling me what to do which helped since it was my first tinting. While the dye is doing its work you get a hand massage so that was a nice little bonus. When I was supposed to open my eyes it stung quite a bit but she handled the situation well and my eyes felt much better afterwards. My main business for this place is to get hair cuts and there isn't really anything to complain about. I have been going here for I believe four years now using the same hair dresser. Their scheduling is very well timed, it did occur once where my hair dresser was running a bit behind, but otherwise I have never had to wait for my appointment to start. The place is clean and has a good vibe to it in regards to decor and music. Everyone there is friendly, although I mostly associate with the receptionist and my own hair dresser, sometimes other hair dressers come over to check out what's going on. I never had a bad cut at this place, and I've never seen anyone getting a bad cut either. Is this place expensive? Yeah. Overpriced? No. It's a salon so expect to pay top dollar for your services and products, their prices I would say are no higher than other salons. read more

I was not happy with the out come of my hair (which is extremely hard for some people to even tell their stylist or salon) and I was not treated with the customer service I should have been. I was in from Edmonton for the weekend and needed my hair done. I was wanting a half head of low lights with some framing my face. For how much this salon costs I was disappointed. I was told by the manager that they are only able to redo clients hair who are unhappy within one week, yet I am a student and have exams so it is impossible to make the trip back to diva within a week. But whatevs I'll just walk around with ugly hair because I am a poor student and can't fail out of school, thanks Diva. read more

He used everything we talked about and made a great haircut for me that matched both my specifications and my face (i.e. it looks AWESOME!). I'm getting compliments about it everywhere I go. Nice salon and the staff are friendly but there's something wrong with the sinks they use to wash your hair. I've been complaining to my stylist for months now but they haven't fixed the sinks. There's something wrong with the hydraulics. Your neck rests in a curve on sink and it starts out fairly comfortable but the sink gradually lowers on it's own. I had a haircut last night and shortly after I got home, my neck started to really hurt and it's still tender today. I'm not sure how the owners can justify charging $75 for a haircut with this kind of equipment. read more

Sure enough when I came home the nasty hairdresser in my complex had my other nasty neighbour over to gossip about myself. When you want a specific look, where should you go? Only to the best in Calgary, I've been coming to Diva for over ten years. I don't live in Calgary but I stop in whenever I visit. Where do I start with the consistency of my amazing experience, I walk in to that fabulous aroma of Aveda's with their friendly front desk staff greeting me with smiles, taking my coat and offering me a beverage. I don't always see the same stylist but I always have a fantastic customer service experience with them. My last visit started with a big smile and welcome from my stylist Ali, he was great about asking me what we were going to do and what my lifestyle is like to reflect the maintenance of my hair, because I like easy and effortless hair. Ali was very thorough and gave me exactly what I wanted. My favorite part is always the scalp massage and hand massage. After my color and cut I walked out feeling like a million bucks!! I came to this location to get a haircut and it was a very pleasant experience. The problem is I had told the stylist I am a mom and I don't have time to style my hair so I just wanted it layered. After the cut she styled my hair and it looked beautiful but after I did my normal routine my hair ended up looking like a 2 layered broom. For the better part of 2016, I searched for a stylist who could help me transition out of a pixie cut gracefully. I'm excited to say I finally found my "go-to hair person". I've had two appointments with Christina now, one for a haircut and one for full head highlights. I really like the way that she added some shape and body to my haircut, so it wasn't flat and heavy. It's a really flattering cut that I've received a lot of compliments on! After the cut, I booked in for colour service. I had been growing out my hair for the better part of the past year and a half, wanting to eventually go ash blonde - but to do it the right way... Christina explained what we might expect from the process, given that she was working with virgin hair - and was able to get the colour that I wanted within that one process. Another thing I really like about her, is that she styles my hair in a way that I can watch, and get the hang of pretty quick without having to use a dozen products (there's 2 right now). I went to Diva Hair Salon in Southcentre to get my hair coloured this last weekend. I gave the stylist the formula for my hair colour and indicated how my regular stylist did my hair. Unbeknownst to me, she did not follow the colour reguested and I ended up with two toned hair. My roots came out red and the rest of my shoulder length hair is brownish/blonde. She then proceeded to blow dry my hair in such a hurry that it frizzed out. I left with two toned hair looking like a kitchen mop!!! To top off this horrible experience, she charged me for the hair cut!!!! I would pass on this salon, as there are great Aveda salons in Calgary, and this is definitely not one of them. read more

Was really looking forward to my hair appointment this afternoon but an hour before was called to say that my stylist was running late with another client and wouldn't be able to accommodate me at all today. I would completely understand if she was sick but poor time management is no excuse. I booked my appointment a long time ago and my time should be valued the same as anyone else's. I am now running around trying to find somewhere else to go for a haircut last minute before my holidays. I don't doubt that the hair stylists are good at what they do, but between them not keeping to their schedule and the front desk staff having NO IDEA what to do to problem solve, I will NOT be back. Be very careful purchasing anything at DIVA Spa in Southcentre What they do not tell you is that they will not give you a refund if you return an unused product. Instead you get a gift card that is only valid at that store. I bought something for a gift that was being shipped to another province(Sales person was told this before purchase) then changed my mind due to high cost to ship the large sized products I bought there - sales person told me buying the large size would save %10% if the bottles are brought back to refill.Cost was too much to ship so brought them back and exchanged for smaller sizes and could not get my money back. Oh yes - they told me that it was clearly printed on my receipt that they do not give refunds......however the receipt comes after I have made the payment so that is too late. They also told me I could only use the gift card in their location at Southcentre. I wonder exactly how the person I was going to give them to were supposed to get the bottles refilled if they don't live in Calgary??? DISSAPOINTED AND MAD THAT I CANNOT GET MY MONEY BACK. I have been going to Diva for about a year for blow-outs. I decided to try them for a cut instead of driving downtown to my stylist of 5 years - way more convenient location for me. I asked for 2 inches off and long layers. What I got was huge chunky layers where half my hair is about 3 inches shorter than the other hair. The manager just called me and booked me in for a correction. Really impressed with her understanding. Hopefully I can get these layers to look a bit more subtle. read more

After a horrible haircut at another salon earlier in the day that left me in tears I called Diva salon hoping that ANYONE was available to fix my hair. Lucky for me there was an appointment opening an hour later. My hair had the pleasure of being "fixed" by the wonderful Sherry P. Thank you to whoever cancelled and miraculously left her open to take an emergency booking. I walked in with a toque (it was that bad) and the hope that something could be done. I had previously had longer, thick hair that had been ruined by an incompetent stylist cutting my hair too short and taking thinning shears to my hair. Sherry is classified as a "master stylist" and well deserved. Though nothing could be done about my butchered bangs, she managed to salvage my hair into a chin length cut. botched cut...spoiled my mood. I saw a student stylist, which i suppose was a bad idea-but realistically, when a student stylist costs 55 dollars plus tax and tip, you expect that they have some knowledge. I asked the stylist to simply trim my cut, and keep the cut style exactly the same. 2 hours later, I had the most uneven hair cut ever, and it looked nothing like what I was expecting it to (which was no different than how it was already....) I was told prior to my cut that a student has attended their program, and has learned adequate skills to properly cut hair (rigorous 1 year training I was told) and that every so often, an educator stylist would come and check in on my cut. The only plus side was that when I complained, they offered to fix my hair, by an educator stylist. The educator stylist agreed that it was a very bad hair cut, and it shouldn't have been so rough. I was pretty satisfied, and decided to visit her more frequently until I was told her rate was 90 dollars. read more

I went in for a eyebrow waxing today, and the result was terrible. I will say that the experience was great.. But walking out of the salon was the worst part. My right eyebrow is completely different from my left it is way thinner and it looks like she took a random chunk from the middle. I specifically said that I wanted to keep the shape and clean around my eyebrow not completely take 50 percent of my eyebrow off. Not to mention that the price is to high for a 15 min session. had a really bad experience here recently. I called a booked an appointment, 3 weeks ahead. My husband was sending me to get my hair done as a gift. When I arrived, they said they could not do my hair because the appointment was booked wrong by the receptionist and the stylist "was off at 7," so she couldn't do it. She offered me a few different options including, coming back the next day at 230pm." I explained that I was paying a babysitter and she pretended to care but I really felt a lack of compassion and that I was in the wrong...like somehow it was my fault that the appointment was booked incorrectly. In the end, the manager spoke to her and she did my hair. It was average at best. I'm not really satisfied with it but I would never walk back in there after being treated that way. The price was completely out to lunch...slightly overpriced. Would not ever go back to this or any of the other locations. read more

I had an awesome stylist here. I am having to move on to another salon as their appointment booking system is completely unreliable. I had a color appointment booked a couple of days before my vacation. I called to confirm my appointment and they noted I didn't have one for that date. They were not helpful at all and zero effort was made to help. Luckily my stylist heard about it and moved her schedule around to accommodate me. Cut to 6 weeks later and I get a call to confirm an appointment on a date I don't have an appointment on. Smack in the middle of my work day so clearly not when I booked my appointment. To make matters worse they had given away the actual time I had booked to someone else. Again, no effort to help...not even to say they would fit me in with someone else. I"m not sure if they have someone new on reception, a bad computer system or what but this happened twice in a row so I am on the hunt for a new salon. My next appointment in October is right before a wedding and now I am completely unconfident that they can maintain that date without botching it up again. So I am cancelling that and moving on. Too bad because the person who has been doing my hair for the past 2 years is awesome! I will miss her. I hope she gives the unhelpful receptionist a bad haircut! :) read more

I had booked my appointment here a couple days in advance of my actual appointment and was so excited! I was finally going to get a professional opinion on my hair and getting it cut to a pixie cut. The day of my appointment I received a call at school from the salon and thought it was just going to be a confirmation of my appointment. Instead, I was informed that the stylist I had originally booked wasn't available due to a "schedule conflict". I was told that I could schedule the appointment 45 minutes later than what was originally booked, which was fine by me. THEN they told me that it would be even more expensive than my original booking because it would have to be with a more expensive stylist, which is something I can't afford. Because of all this, I had to cancel my appointment with them and was very disappointed. I had heard good things about this salon but after seeing that they can't keep appointments and make me pay even more to do the exact same thing I had planned on, I will not be making another appointment with them again. read more

I can't comment on any of the other stylists here (or on any of the spa services), but I do know that Ali is amazing!! He has been cutting my hair for a couple years and always does an incredible job. About a month ago I let someone else cut my hair (huge mistake) and it was a complete disaster. It looked like I had stepped out of the 80s, and the layers were so short I was sure it couldn't be salvaged. I was totally devastated because I thought for sure I'd have to chop it all off just to have it look ok again. I went to see Ali for an "emergency" hair appointment, and at first he agreed - he'd have to chop it off... but he could at least give me a cute bob so it would look ok while it grew out again. When he saw how disappointed I was about that he said "well, I'll give it a try, see if I can fix it, and we'll go from there." And he went to work. Trust me, he had his work cut out for him... This was a BAD haircut. But he did it! Not only was he able to save my hair (I only had to lose an inch or two instead of the 6-8 inches I was expecting), he actually turned my disaster haircut into a cut that I love!
