My husband and I took a group of people to Cozumel for some of our groups first drift diving, ocean, boat diving experience last week and others came with a vast amount of dive experience. So organizing divers Is like herding cats sometimes. Need i say more. Our first day (we used one tank of our 9 tank package dives) was taken in the small bay right in front of the Barracuda hotel. Success for weight check feeling comfortable etc. Off we were all on our second day nine divers and we go out on the boat with Dive Paradise. On the boat you're the captain a couple of DM's and the instructor. Usually dive boats have a mix of Dive certifications. There's this large guy that steps on the boat. He has a smile from one coast of the Caribbean to the other. I am a new DM. So I am listening and watching everything he is doing and saying. He:steps on the boat and comes out with his best Diego Garcia (and looks like him as well) voice and says I am Hector. Immediately he was someone that I felt I have known my whole life and eases into introductions. He asks everyone all of our experience. Explains in detail what was going to happen that day on diving. His history lesson of dive sites, experiences, life, heartbreaks, and diving was really epic. Our group was so comfortable with him and Dive Paradise it was beyond phenomenal. He took us to swim through, pointed out marine life while keeping close track of everyone as he should. We liked him so much we called the office every day after and requested Hector to be our guide or we would not be diving. Lol Then we came into an emergency with one diver. Hector kept us well informed in case of emergency how to notify him with out further questioning under water every day before we got into the water. I watched how he handled the emergency with calmness, professionalism and exact precision with his quick decisions. At the boat he was the leader and got busy. This diver emergency was all the divers fault dehydration. Nothing to do with Dive Paradise. I will say there is a quiet DM that dove with us and he called out a correct diagnosis, thank you Daniel for your expertise. Dive Paradise executed paramedics at the dock and took our diver to a hospital. The doctor who is well known in Cozumel. I recommend everyone to go to him even if it is not dive related. Dr. Piccolo. Put it in your address book for that area. Dr. Piccolo stayed with our dive family explained in details everything that was going on and assured us that our diver will be just fine. Plus the doctor kept an eye on the patient 4 more days less than 24 hours in the hospital. Wow who does that in the states. Thank you Dive Paradise for a great doctor. Laura the site manager for Dive Paradise runs a tight group there in Cozumel. The staff minus one other person is great to work with. Angel he kept us informed at the dock as well as on task with our wrist bands and his stories. Imagine Angel is Hector's uncle!,!, Niceness must run in the family right? As our diver was released the next afternoon after his mishap Laura (manager of Dive Paradise) picked husband and wife up from the hospital Personally and brought them back to the hotel. Talk about efficient and professionalism and just going out of their way for customer service. People why would you want to go to anyone else? Last weekend my husband and I attended the Scuba Show in Long Beach. We wanted to make sure we introduced ourselves to Michael Penwarden (the owner of Dive Paradise). He was well informed of our dives and experiences. I would have kissed his toes and gave him a hug and said your dive company just rocks the world. But instead I bragged about Dive Paradise, Hector, the staff, and all plus shook his hand and said thank you. Great person. Just an FYI. This isn't our first time with Dive Paradise. I have dove with them before. Just a great company to dive with. Dive Paradise he is someone you need to keep. Or I am going to snag him here in Las Vegas. read more

I booked 3 excursions through dive paradise along with a room at cozumel hotel and resort. I used this company because our local dive shop goes here and recommended them. I gave detailed information about needs at time of booking which was several months in advance. It seemed as if the majority of info didnt make it to the booking other than the bookings themselves. 2 of the 3 bookings were done by tulum dive and travel company. I did a separate review for them The excursion itself was well done. The 2 in my party who went really enjoyed. I mentioned however afterwards my son said his bcd was leaking and the owner looked at me like I was crazy and didnt seem to think it was problematic. I was just letting him know so he could look at it before giving it to anyome else. Not to complain. The other 2 bookings I didnt realize the other company was doing. Again it was fine but because there was a 2nd company leading this. I wasn't getting a ton of info from dive paradise who I booked with about these trips The cenote diving trip was excellent The whale shark snorkeling if you are looking at that. You should know. Its taking a ferry, driving about an hour to cancun, then spending an hour plus on a very rough boat ride. You will get 2 chances to jump out of the boat and swim with the whale sharks. All the dive companies running this tour do the sane thing. The boats chase these whale shark around. You jump in next to them. They swim away and you try to swim with them. Your swim will last a few minutes. Then you get back on boat until its your turn to do the 2nd one. I had no idea thats what it would be, if I had I would not have booked this. I thought we would be going to an area we might see them and have a chance to just snorkeling around. You spend a long time sitting to spend about 5 minutes snorkeling and doing what feels like harassing the wildlife. I would not ever do that again. You then repeat very rough ride back on boat with a stop for lunch and a little swim. If your stomach was strong enough to withstand the ride. Get back to the boat dock. Hour ride to playa del Carmen and then a ferry ride back to cozumel. Its a long day. Was it worth nearly $300 per person. No. And in my opinion it should not be described as a magical experience. They should call it what it is but then I guess not as many tours would be sold Anyhow. Asking questions from this company I felt as if I was bothering them. read more

BLUF: friendly people, but quality and maintenance of rental equipment concerns me. Dove about 10 dives with them. First, the good. The crew and shore staff are generally very friendly. They offer fresh fruit between dives, which is awesome. They also have a cold-water cooler on board. Most of the divemasters are very good and conscientious. There was a roll call after every dive, and they had emergency equipment on board. The bad: only one small bucket to rinse masks, and it got pretty grungy by the end of the trip. Like soaking your mask in soup. One divemaster seemed like he wanted to be anyplace other than there. And only one out of the 4 we had really checked air status with all divers during the dive. My biggest concern is the gear. I personally had a leaky o-ring three times in as many days. I also had a depth gauge that didn't work, a reg set that had a lot of breathing resistance, and a leaky first stage. One of our divers ran out of air at 40 feet when his gauge read 1100 lbs of air. He had to make an emergency ascent. When he did so, the divemaster swam up to him and pulled him down by his fin, I guess because he thought there was something he could remedy, but not exactly what my friend needed at that point. I would use them again for service, but I would NOT use rental gear. read more

The hotel is comfortable and the staff do want to please. All our requests were fulfilled quickly: extra blankets, extra towels, etc. We were here for a week and had six two-tank morning dives. The diving was great and our DM, Gatto, was the best. ( I was a Dive Master and am now an instructor). I also did one night dive. Generally we had one to 3 other couples; we signed up for the fast boat and I recommend you do too. Besides being smaller, it can to do sites the larger slower boat cannot get to. Be aware that you have to carry your own gear to/from the board and rinse it yourself. The storage lockers a small and do not allow for hanging up your gear over night. We'd had up our gear outside and then around 5 or 6 pm put it safely away in our locker. read more

Over the weekend I had the opportunity to finish the certifications for a few divers on the Hotel Coz house reef, then do two days of diving on the Casabel, captained by Goyo and DM'd by Samuel and it was perfect. Both Goyo and Samuel got to learn the newly certified divers and work with me on the best locations to not only show them the best of the reef, but the most exciting and safe dives. Both of these know their trade well and left my newly certified students yarning for more. The goal we all strive for. read more

Dive Paradise makes the diving experience exceptional! They have a lot of knowledgeable divemasters, well maintained boats and a friendly staff. We dove back to back days (3 dives/day for 6 days) - we could make special requests for dive sites and divemasters. You can meet at their pier, which is at the Barracuda hotel (they have an awesome outdoor patio/bar with excellent hummus). OR they will pick you up from your resort pier. They check your gear and change your gear out between dives. They are very safety conscious, do the standard safety stops, make sure everyone is back on board and are constantly watching/following bubbles to pick you up as you surface. Stayed at Hotel Cozumel for 5 days and had 2 days of boat dives, a "welcome tank" shore dive, and a night shore dive during my stay. Loved having the dive shop connected to the hotel, right in the area where the the hotel "beach" was and the lunchtime restaurant. So quick that when I forgot my dive log one morning I could run back to my room very quickly and run back within 5 minutes! For my boat dives I chose the speed boat because for 4 extra dollars, it was well worth being back by noon to veg out the rest of the day. The guides were great, you could let them know your preferences for dive sites and they would accommodate you with that. On my first day I said that I badly wanted to see one of the rare splendid toadfish (a fish completely endemic to Cozumel) and he made sure to help me find not one but two! Over 2 days we dived at Paradise Reef (the aforementioned toadfish), Punto de Cedral (2 nurse sharks, 1 huge hawksbill turtle, every kind of parrotfish ever), Columbia Gardens (another turtle, hundreds of other fish), and Palancar Horseshoe (amazing reef formations with tunnels & sea caves). All were spectacular! The shore dives are actually quite fun too because out by the dock they have a sunken faux Mayan temple! An old version of the one in the pool, this was really fun to find. read more

its hit and miss, you have some guys that you can tell are just bored and tired of their jobs. I Don't blame them as every tourist comes as if they are the center of the universe and "you are my special friend remember me from last year??" that has to get old. All the same though that then transpires as negative attitude towards others. Then again there are others that love to meet the new people, dive master Rita!! hit her up, all her boats are fun and she's quick and alert with everyone. Fast boats have no shade but can take you farther, slow boats have shade so us older folks are stuck diving in the same friggin place every time. Wish they had slow boats that came our earlier and the day and give us some new places to dive. Safety measures are very good, boat quality and reliability is not bad at all. Don't pre-buy your night dives cause unless they have 4 divers that want to go on the same day you're not gonna go, unless you fork over the prices for 4 total divers. We had to play the negotiation game "trade you two night dives for 2 people/ for one day dive with 3 people" something like that. It worked in the end, but its vacation for me I don't need to arrive and negotiate. read more

Been here twice once in 2015 for a week the other time in June 2018. The diving is great. The dive masters are hit or miss. Emilio is amazing. You tell that man what you want to see and he magically knows where everything is. We also used victor and Abraham. Victor is funny but we had a slight problem on our boat with Abraham and when discussing the issue with the trip leader he conveniently left out some key facts that were told to him by the diver. Witnessed events by several people. I can not recommend Abraham as a guide at all and would suggest requesting specifically not to have him. He tends to be more of a baby sitter than an active guide showing you various things. My last experience put somewhat of a bad taste but if you can get Emilio than you're going to have a great time!!! read more

I dived with Dive Paradise for six days at the end of July, 2017. I am an experienced diver (100+ dives), but I rarely take large group boat trips; my review is colored by my experience. First, the positive: Dive Paradise runs a large operation, fielding multiple boats with multiple pick-ups every morning and every afternoon. Given all the logistics involved, I was impressed by their overall efficiency. Each boat has a manifest and the crew will make sure you get on the right one. On board, things are generally pretty organized, and there enough crew to help with the unforeseen. Support is "full service". They will help with your first stage, open your air when you gear up, replace a torn O-ring faster than you can say Bob's your uncle, and if you have trouble climbing a ladder with all your gear on, they will let you doff your BCD in the water and hoist it for you. We were served fresh fruit, cookies, and sodas in between dives on the morning 2-tank trips. The dive masters consistently enforce safety stops, which is probably a good thing. The dives themselves, alas, disappointed. We did a three-dive per day package. Don't. While the crew is willing to venture further South in the morning, where the most spectacular reefs are found, in the afternoon they will almost invariably take you to Paradise Reef, just South of the cruise ships. You'll get bored with this pretty fast. There is no consistency in procedure among dive masters, and unless you make special arrangements, you will likely get a different dive master every day. Some problems I have with the dive masters: * They rush you through the dive, sometimes doing things that are not safe: on one dive we hit the water, met up with half of our group on the surface, only to discover that our dive master was already submerged. We sometimes were given less than a 30-minute surface interval, because, it seemed, the dive masters were in a hurry to get back. * In theory they begin ascent when you hit 1000 PSI. But on only two dives did the dive masters enquire about my air status during the dive. I ended most dives with well over 1000 PSI in my tank. Divers with Nitrox will likely be diving with air divers. * In the morning they will make a show of asking you where you want to go, but more often than not they will ignore the boat's decision and just tell you where you are going. As a result, out of 15 dives, we had only two among the more scenic Southern reefs. The dives themselves were confusing: often they would describe one profile, then dive a different one. * On only 3 of our 15 dives did the dive master do a roll call after we were back on the boat. * They don't seem to care much about protecting the reef. On almost all of our dives, there were divers - not all novice - who did the "egg beater" with their fins on corals and sponges, or grabbed on to sponges to stop themselves from being carried on in the current. The dive masters didn't say or do anything. Witnessing this made me wonder whether the reefs of Cozumel may eventually become victims of their own popularity. Of all of the above, the most frustrating for us was not being able to see most of the dive sites further South. read more

What an experience! Dive Paradise did an excellent job in ensuring our safety and enjoyment of this miraculous experience. We began our dive journey by getting trained and certified by our awesome instructors, Omar and Gener. They slowly paced us through everything we need to know to become certified as an Open Water Diver. We were lucky enough to also have our training grounds be actual dives in the ocean, about twenty-five feet deep, while most other training sites have divers learning in a swimming pool. Once we were certified, we made our way to a boat dive with divemaster, Jorge. He ensured that we were always comfortable and safe. Once we were in the water, I was taken aback by the amazing scenery. Clear blue water, exotic marine life, and colorful coral reefs had me feeling like I was living in a movie. It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life thanks to the amazing staff at Dive Paradise. read more

We've dove with Dive Paradise twice while staying at Hotel Cozumel & Resort. The dive masters are all knowledgable, safe, and friendly. In particular, we loved diving with Gregorio and Peter! They have a large fleet, including larger (slow) boats and fast boats that can travel to sites further away. The dive masters took our feedback on which sites we wanted to visit, which I appreciated. They were helpful when any problems occurred (I had an issue with my computer and also a couple of o-rings) The dive masters were good at spotting unique and rare creatures, and went above and beyond to make our 100th dive special, and to help us find seahorses (which we really wanted to see!) The shop was also friendly and helpful in setting up some night dives and a Cenote tour. I'd recommend Dive Paradise if you are going to be diving in Cozumel. read more

Absolutely incredible experience. Wife and I both did the Discover Scuba Diving course. Only $67 per person included all necc gear to complete a shore dive up to appx 30 feet. Gener (our guide) was an amazing instructor. Thoughtful, patient, helpful. Our safety was of the utmost priority and he walked us through necc scuba basics both in and out of the water. Again all this for only $67/pp. I couldn't believe it. Lasted about 2 1/2-3 hours w/ maybe 15 mins to get situated once in the water and another 30-45 mins exploring the area. They offer everything from these beginner classes to certification to extensive dives. Will make them a priority next time in Cozumel. Super friendly and extremely reasonably priced. This is an official can't miss. read more

No show on Valentines Day. We had our front desk and call speaking Spanish so there was no language barrier. He set a dive up for 8:30. At 9 I asked him to call back and check and they told him we never set anything up ???? He said he was the one that set it up and they just kept making excuses. I will never use this company. I took my grandchildren, Reece (12 yrs( , Sidney, 15 yrs) for their open water certification. Logan (23yrs was certified over 5 yrs ago).. Dive Paradise and Hotel Cozumel are wonderful. The crews are very safety conscious, fun, reliable and very knowledgeable regarding the aquatic life. Our boat was Tango, which was comfortable for 18 divers. Capt Will I am was a reliable and safe Captain..The crew was amazing,,my knees are shot, so the crew made it extremely easy for me with a rear roll off for my entries and reentries. I've been diving since 1985. Coming to Cozumel since 1990. Spring Break 2017 was our 10th visit and we have gone out with Dive Paradise for the past 10 years. Once in a great while you meet someone who truly cares about you and your needs and that is their Divemaster Jesus. He is a thorough, safety conscious and fun underwater guide. He is Gringo friendly and has a great sense of humor. Now pair him with Shaggi the boat Captain on 6 passenger Fast Boats and your have a pair of characters. Batman and Robin have nothing on this dynamic duo! When you pop to the surface he is always right there to pick you up. Shaggi loves his music and knows American rock and roll. So between dives you can chill and listen to some tunes, catch rays and off gas. Shaggi is so much fun I gave him my Bose Mini II Soundlink Bluetooth speaker for his phone as a parting gift. We will always come back to Dive Paradise when we dive Cozumel. So ask for Shaggi and Jesus. Dive safe. read more
