Went to AZ for some lake diving with my dad- full equipment rental was easy to do, competitively priced and we even got to use their pool for a gear check/orientation as some of the setup was new to me. We got some recommendations about dive sites and things to check out, it was a great experience. My sister has always had issues equalizing but Ashley gave her some new tips that worked amazingly. Scuba equipment service is terrible. Promised a service on a regulator for two weeks. Six weeks later they haven't done anything, only to inform us they need to send it out. They do not answer phones during business hours, but screening their phone calls prove this by using two separate phone numbers within a minute of calling this business. Would not recommend them to anyone. read more

First off, I don't live near the dive shop. I dropped off my bcd and reg in early Jan for annual maintenance. I received an email this week saying my gear was ready and needed to be picked up within 2 weeks. I spent my morning driving to the dive shop, and gas, to be told my gear was not ready!! read more

I am still shocked by my first visit to this store. When I dropped off two sets of gear for service they estimated $250 per set to replace all the kits and to service the equipment. That would've made it the most expensive service I have ever had, but I was already there so I left my gear with them. When I got there to pick up my equipment they tried to charge me $850. $350 more than their original estimate. The only unexpected part they replaced was a hose they wanted $75 for. When I challenged the bill, they talked about not knowing what it was going to take until they tore into the equipment but the only part that was unusual was a hose. Everything else was normal service. Except the price of course, which was 50% more than the original estimate. Needless to say it was pretty obvious th I was upset and they finally "worked it down for me" by taking hundred dollars off. Of course that still left them almost $200 over there original estimate. Do not bring your gear here for service unless you want to get ripped off. Unbelievably disappointed and shocked by the way my equipment was handled and the way they took advantage of me as a new customer. Update to my experience... When we got the gear home there was a note stuck to my wife's computer saying they thought the computer was defective because the battery that they put in was only half life. We took it to another Dave store got the battery replaced and everything is fine. I guess if you're going to charge somebody 50% more than the service is worth you might as well only do half of the job too. read more

I called ahead to check they were open and could fill my PCP air tank to 4,500psi. My tank is for my Precharged Pneumatic (PCP) pellet rifle, and not related to Scuba gear but seems only Scuba shops have the high pressure compressors and tanks to fill my portable tank. Overall, I highly recommend their shop because their professionalism and customer service is excellent. Now I want to learn or at least take some classes on scuba diving. read more

This being one of the only shops in the west valley they think they can do what they want. This shop does a poor job working with other professionals in the area you can see below is another instructor with a disappointing experience. I'm left time and time again being upset with this store. At one point I left a tank to be serviced. They gave my tank to another customer and all my tanks have my name on it. After just shy of a year he finally agreed to replace the tank and not with a new tank but the customers tank who took mine. But still I tried playing nice with this shop and send students there and Paul is rude to them and gives them a hard time. I don't doubt that the other people had a good experience. Just if seems if your a professional there is no peer to peer respect. read more

My certification process here was ok. Not the lease expensive place in town, but ok. I'm now hooked on diving! i bought a pair of boots for my husbands birthday. Paul the owner sold them to me and said if they didn't fit, I could return them as the purchase was in the computer. They didn't fit and once we returned to the country I went to the store. Paul refused to return the unused, still in the bag, still originally tagged boots 14 days after they were purchased. He says it states on the receipt they have a 10 day return policy. Had he told me I never would have made the purchase as we were out of the country for 12 days. As a new diver I will be spending lots of money on equipment. However. I will spend my money somewhere with a more reasonable return policy and better customer service. read more

We just had our 12-year-old son certified at Scuba Professionals. The instructors are amazing and take the time to cover the material completely! He completed his checkout dives in Lake Pleasant and we just came back from Cozumel where he completed his first ocean dives. He is a diver for life!! He says, " if you haven't been diving you haven't been living". Thanks to the whole crew, Paul /Tina for fitting him with the correct gear that he can grow with, and to Adam who did his checkout dives at the lake. The staff and trainers here are all extremely knowledgeable and are all active SCUBA divers. They know this sport forwards and backwards. They offer all kinds of gear and training. As well as different options for paying for items and services, like layaway and pay as you go and package deals. I am very happy that I found thIs shop. Great facility, came here to do a class with an instructor. Tina was extremely nice and attentive, but Paul, I'm assuming the owner for how full of himself he is, was way out of line during our visit. He was incredibly rude to myself, my girlfriend, as well as our instructor during our visit. He kept mumbling about wet gear in his showroom when other people would walk through so we decided to pull our vehicle around to the back door and load our wet ental gear back there. I told him multiple times that we had more gear to grab out of the the pool room, yet he manually locked my group and the instructor out of the back door 2 times while he kept complaining about letting his precious A/C out. I get it, power bills are expensive but chill the fuck out, having the door open for 2 minutes isn't going to ruin your perfect temperature. We had a great time with our instructor, but I absolutely regret buying gear, and renting equipment here. I will never do business here again, and I'll make sure my friends don't either. read more

What a great first scuba diving experience! I finally got around to try scuba diving for the first time ever earlier this month. Not sure what to expect, I was greeted by a very friendly staff and students who already were certified or on their way to more advanced classes. After some introduction safety videos in the classroom and signing a bunch of release forms I got all the help I needed to prepare for some time in the pool. I forgot to bring a T shirt but fortunately the equipment did not bother my back. The mask provided fit me perfectly and I managed to get into the borrowed fins. The initial equipment test and first underwater experience was not as scary as I feared thanks to a great instructor. With multiple fellow divers and instructors assisting me I got plenty of time in the water exploring part of a three dimensional world I never really had experienced before. Although living over 2 hours away I very much look forward to continue with certification classes when back in the area this fall. Thank you for making my first scuba experience excellent. You really know what you are doing and have a great way of teaching. read more

A great shop with a huge selection of gear and courses! I took my open water certification courses there at the shop. They have their own indoor pool at the shop so I didn't have to drive anywhere else. Tina Lowe and Tom Leonard led my classroom and pool sessions and did a great job explaining everything and were very patient with all of the students. The small class size provided for a very close learning experience with plenty of one-on-one time. Tom Gruelle led my certification checkout dive at Lake Pleasant and was professional, knowledgeable, and kept things fun. I had no apprehension going in for my first open water dives with him. Between dives he was willing to answer questions about gear and his own experiences. Our twins were invited to their friend's 13th birthday party (October 14, 2016) and they had a a great memorable experience at the Scuba Professionals of Arizona! Needless to say, the kids had a blast and for other parents to get a better picture of how much fun it was. I made a video of their experience on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LdAnNJZa2TY&spfreload=10 Their instructors were Tom and Navy-trained "Tom G.", and both Toms were very patient with the young beginners. The pool was also heated very well and was of adequate size and depth. In another video on the company's FB page, I did see that the pool can also have "currrents" and even simulate nighttime scuba diving. One of the kids freaked out a little bit as she was getting used to the mask but Tom G. was able to calm her down and she was able to dive in. Definitely, this place is very welcoming of beginners and a great place to begin the process of certification. For the party part of the birthday celebration, our friend was able to bring her own food to the second floor where the kids recounted on their great experiences in the water. The facility location is on "Building 8" on the west side of Olive Ave just beside the 101 Freeway. They have a nice shop full of scuba gear/equipment. It is amazing that there is a facility here for divers in our "desert city", and comforting to know that the instructors are very skilled and friendly. read more

My husband and I are currently getting our open water certification through Scuba Professionals and we have had a great experience! Tom G is our instructor and he is fabulous! You will always feel safe with him...he has tons of experience, is Navy trained and is always calm and collected. I even panicked during one of the drills and he was not only able to calm me down, but also took the time to work with me one on one to perfect the skill. I now feel more confident with diving than ever. The rest of the staff is great too. We ordered gear through them and since it hasn't arrived yet, Tina let me borrow her stuff at no additional cost. I can't say enough wonderful things about Scuba Pro's of AZ! I signed up to get certified back in May. Tom did my class and did a great job making all the information easy to understand. During my pool sessions I had more than a little trepidation at a few points. Tina, my instructor, was patient, encouraging and more than anything let me learn at my own speed. At one point I almost quit out of fear. Boy am I glad I didn't ! By the time I got to Little Cayman to finish off my certification I felt confident and excited. I completed 13 dives in the Caymans and am signed up to travel with them to Cozumel in October. Can't wait. My husband and I signed for the scuba certification class and the entire experience was amazing. Paul and Tina were great at explaining the whole process from start to finish and getting us set up with the basics (fins, mask, snorkel, boots, gloves). A week prior to our class, our instructor Tom Gruelle called and asked if we had time to come in and discuss what we planned on doing with our certification and finding the right equipment that fit our needs. Tom was great at explaining the ins and outs of the different options available to us for bcs, regulators, and dive computers. We couldn't have asked for a better instructor. Our class was diverse ranging from a child all the way up to an older man. Tom was exceptionally patient with everyone and took extra time with who ever needed it to ensure full understanding of what we were learning. I would highly recommend anyone wanting to take the course to enroll at Scuba Professionals of Arizona in Peoria and request Tom as the instructor. He truly made the experience pleasurable and fun. It's always unfortunate when a pretty good experience with a company ends up leaving a bad taste in your mouth but that's exactly how mine ended with Scuba Pro Az. First, I have to say that Tina is extremely friendly and always willing to help. My instructor was knowledgeable and patient and, besides constantly making fun of my equipment because it's semi-old even though it's still functional, obviously knew his stuff. After we were done with our pool classes, we were rented out equipment for our lake dives. It is here that I must caution you. Scuba Pro AZ failed to include one of the BC weight pouches when they rented my equipment out to me. Since I am an amateur and was unsure what to look for in rental equipment that was unfamiliar to me, I did not notice that the one pouch was missing. During my lake dive the assistant noticed that my pouch was gone. I told them I had no idea where it was because I hadn't touched the thing since leaving the shop the previous night. They said I would probably have to pay for it. I left it alone and when we finished with our lake dives they checked out my equipment and I left it at that. A week later I received a call from the owner, Peter or Paul or whatever his name is, who just has the warmest personality and absolutely loves talking with customers (each word of that sentence is dripping with sarcasm in case you can't tell). He told me I would have to pay for the pouch. I challenged him that I depended on the professionals at Scuba Professionals to properly check my gear and I in fact had not left the shop with that pouch. He said he would look into it. When I went into the shop to wrap up the final test and pay for the lake dives, I found out that I indeed had to pay $45 for the pouch. A pouch?! $45 that I know did not go to a ridiculous pouch, of which there are probably piles of in the back. Oh, and in regards to the online course that you are required to take, make sure you manage your time well because you'll have to repeat it 3 or 4 times. Aside from taking over an hour to even get in and navigate the site they send you, it continuously crashes and erases the progress you made. Many students complained about this but nothing happened besides the owner telling you that you have to use Google Chrome over and over again...which I was doing on several computers. So maybe my $45 dollars can go to hiring an IT guy to improve the SSI website. All that being said, while I am grateful I have the knowledge and resources to now start my scuba adventure, I am even more grateful to be done with the Scuba Pro AZ and I can now take my money to other shops in the Valley. read more

If I could give them a minus star I would! This place has the worst customer service of any dive shop I have been in ever. Because I am a proponent of small business, I decided to support a local dive shop near my house instead of purchasing my dive equipment from Leisure Pro, online. First time was fine, we were shown around and ended up purchasing from the store. Second time, purchased a mask and boots and picked up a pair for a friend. After two weeks, returned to get my regulator service and return the boots my friend did not want or use and was told that I could not return them because it had been over 10 days. Really, they knew that I was on my trip for more than 10 days, why did they not tell me when I purchased the extra boots that I could not return them? I ended up hating the mask and the boots that I purchased but since I used them on one dive, I knew they were mine forever. When I went back for my reg, I was told I would get credit against the servicing of my reg for the boots. I was met with a nasty attitude by the owner and charged a restocking charge and told that he was doing me a favor. Evidently the owner is not running his own business the computer program is. He can not make any decisions on his own. The parts on my reg were way over priced and they did not give me the old parts, so I am not even sure new parts were put in my reg. Never have I had it serviced where the shop did not give me the old parts and explain the wear. Not only that, but I showed the owner when I dropped it off that my mouth piece was torn and I needed a new one. When I got it back it had the same torn mouthpiece...wonder what else is the same old?! Your out Scuba Professionals, I am going back to Leisure Pro where I don't get overcharged and better customer service even though they are in New York, and I will drive all the way across town to El Mar to get everything else. Seriously dude, for $20 and a bad attitude you lost a good customer that was willing to pay your outrageous prices. read more

I dropped off my scuba tank, BCD and regulator for typical service to Scuba Professionals because the company was recommended to me by an associate from work. I was left with the impression it would only be about a week to complete the work. Almost 2 weeks later I finally got a call that it was ready to be picked up. When I arrived to pick up my dive gear, I was informed that my regulator was still in pieces because the company had not yet received the needed parts to repair it. I paid for the work performed on my tank and BCD, but will have to find an opportunity to make the 25-minute drive back out to Scuba Professionals once the regulator is finally repaired. Now I will be unable to dive during the Memorial Day weekend. It's aggravating to me, but I'm sure it's embarrassing for my work associate. read more

Shop is friendly and seems to know what they are doing. However, expect to be nickel and dime'd. Example is I stopped in for something else and needed a battery replaced for a dive computer. I had my own battery relevant and only needed a special tool to open the battery case. Paul offered to just do it for me, not mentioning a cost at all, then turned around and charged me around $20 just to change the battery. I had spent a good amount of money at the shop, I just assumed that his offer to spend 2 minutes of his time was complimentary. All I wanted was to use the tool for a moment. I also had a gauge hose replaced, which just now failed on a dive trip. Another dive professional opened it up to discover that too much lubricant put into the gauge during my last service caused the leak. Will work in a bind, otherwise I suggest going elsewhere. read more
