The good: the kale Caesar salad is the best salad I have ever had anywhere. The combination of the dressing with the crunchy chick peas is to die for. The whole restaurant is super cute, albeit it does get really hot inside with only fans when there are lots of people inside. The tables are clean and the staff is friendly. The avocado toast has awesome goat cheese and the bacon you can add on is wonderful. The bad: Honestly extremely disappointed today. This is my third time here and I've been recommending them to all of my friends and family. We came in at 2 pm when they close at 4, drove 30 minutes for lunch, for the "kitchen to be closed". No where on their website or anywhere else do they advertise that they may close the kitchen early and I asked when it typically closes and they said they can just decide to close it when they feel like it, so they're only serving coffee and smoothies. We opted for smoothie bowls and they were completely liquid, we had to drink them and not eat them with spoons. There was also chunks of frozen fruit that didn't get blended and there was no spirulina and zero coconut flavor. Not sure who was working today but it was honestly such a bad experience that I don't think I'll be back or be recommending them to people anymore. $13 for basically a banana and handful of blueberries with melted juice and frozen pineapple chunks is highway robbery. We were coming here for our vacation. It gets busy during the brunch hours. The line was out the door. But there was plenty of seating indoor and outdoors. It looks like a house converted into a cafe. It would be a great place to work or study here. I got the coconut bowl, which was a little bit runny. Such a cute concept. It's a big, old house. So many little areas for seating, from two at a small table to a group huddled up together on a couch. The honey on biscuit was to die for. So I'll start with I think my review is partially based on my food choices. First, there is a deck and some outdoor seating. We assumed we'd be able to bring our dogs on the deck but unfortunately had to just sit at some picnic tables out front without shade. we didn't mind but if you don't like sitting in the sun it wouldn't be for you! I had the avocado toast which was generally underwhelming. It seemed more like a premade Avocado purée/mash than freshly made and the bread texture was semi-toasted which made it seem kind of stale. My friends had the breakfast burrito and croissant sandwich and both really liked theirs. Our drinks were all good. Overall, I'd probably come back to try it again and make other options in terms of ordering, but it wasn't my fave. read more

There was a line when we entered here. The menu was easy to see there are gluten-free and vegetarian options. The staff was super super friendly. We ordered two açai bowls, one BLTA and one burrito. The açai balls were a little melted when they arrived to our table and average. The burrito however smelled delicious and tasted really good. The BLTA was average. There is outside seating and upstairs seating cute little area honestly. a lot of people seem to be meeting for coffee and doing work. Definitely a place to stop if you needed to get some work done while on vacation the staff were super friendly like I said, but it did take around 25 or more minutes to get the food. One of my absolute favorite breakfast places in Surf City. I'd also say probably the best for a calm enjoyable breakfast. My wife and I have come here multiples times over the past 2 summers when visiting. There is parking! Beautiful interior space and outdoor seating on the water- deck and out front.
