I'd give this place 5 stars if they actually let customers sample the ice cream before you purchase the scoops/cups/cones. This is the first place I've encountered that doesn't allow you to try samples, and it might be that they used to allow it but because people abused the system they quit doing it. Either way, it's a frustrating result. My ice cream was great and the employee was nice, but if samples were allowed and if there was any indoor seating so you could enjoy the AC I'd have given 5 stars without a second thought.

I'm not sure I'll ever get used to slaw on a dog, but it was good. My husband had the Beach Dog which was immense and messy. He loved it. Then, a older couple who told us they worked for the pier came to our car from their white van sitting in front of the pier and said "if you are fishing at the pier and buying a pass you could have parked for free in our parking". We thanked the woman who was very nice and said thank you for letting us know, no big deal, will remember tomorrow. Fast forward to Sunday, same older couple same white van Woman comes to the truck says are you fishing here? My husband says yes, goes in purchases the pier pass, she gave us the parking pass day two she's still kind and professional. Not 2 mins after she walks away the older male comes over says you can't park here if you aren't fishing. I explain my husband is fishing (he has a separate fishing cart than my beach cart) however being the gentleman my husband is and knowing we have a teenager who has a disability he states I'm going to help her get the cart down to the beach. This man gives us attitude but my husband helps and takes his fishing cart straight to the pier. Fast forward, my husband spends all day at the pier but time to pack his family up and go. Puts his cart up in the truck comes to help me and the same older man says you have to pay for parking if you aren't on the pier? My husband said we are leaving I'm just helping my wife... doesn't matter if you aren't on the pier. So my husband being the nice person he is went and paid for public parking for an hour to help me drag the cart from the beach which took an entire 5 mins. So if you are smart go ahead and pay for that parking which honestly is cheap anyways and enjoy your day. I write all of this because I work in hospitality and this man was as nice as a hemorrhoid. Stop chasing people down literally before they get out of the car to tell them they shouldn't have paid parking only to harass them the 5 mins it takes for them to help their family get the cart from the beach. Again, the public day parking is a steal compared to big cities. This man is not who needs to be in the parking lot.

The choices of flavors of ice cream is not overwhelming, nor is it the same flavors that everyone seems to be offering these days. After sampling multiple flavors, I was able to narrow it down to two (can't remember the names) and ordered a cup with the two flavors. It's a good thing I stopped at two because the portions are nice-sized. My husband and my sister both ordered different flavors so we were all able to sample a little of each. So creamy and delicious and not over-priced. They also have a gift shop where we were able to pick up some really nice Topsail Island t-shirts for a decent price. While we were looking at the shirts, we spent time talking to the owner and she went above and beyond answering our questions about the shop, the shirts and the area. We will definitely be back when we are in the area, which hopefully will be quite often. Our nephew bought a place in a great campground that is perfect for our RV. I picked up a piece of candy using the provided tongs because the sign specifically said not to use your hands. Despite following the rules, two employees began yelling at me as if I had done something wrong. The situation got even worse when I was looking at one of the squishies. One of them was already out of its packaging before I ever touched it. An employee immediately started yelling at me and accusing me of taking it out, even after I repeatedly explained that it was already like that when I found it. Instead of listening, they continued raising their voices and treating me like I was lying. To make matters worse, the employees were also speaking about me in a different language while I was standing there. Although I could not understand everything they were saying, it was clear from their tone, gestures, and the timing of their comments that they were talking about me. This made the situation feel even more disrespectful and uncomfortable. As a customer who has supported this store for years, I found this treatment disrespectful, embarrassing, and completely unacceptable. Being publicly yelled at over things I did not do was frustrating and upsetting. Customer service should involve listening to customers before making accusations.
