Chicken Salad Croissant & 24oz Iced Chai Tea Latte
Savanna T.

We stopped in for brunch and had a great experience overall! You do seat yourself, which is nice for flexibility, but just know that finding a table can be tricky if it's during a busy time. The ordering process is simple--you place your order at the counter, get a number, and then your food and drinks are brought right to your table. The menu is on the smaller side, but every item we tried was fresh and absolutely delicious. Service was relatively quick, and I loved the unique dining options inside--it gives the place a fun character. Definitely a spot worth trying if you're in the mood for a cozy brunch!

Breakfast burrito

Service was friendly and quick. Smoothie bowl was a 9 out of 10. Breakfast burrito 7 out of 10. Honey biscuit 5 out of 10, the honey made for an odd consistency. Honey vanilla latte was good, the chai is a true chai and flavorful. The cafe is very unique. From the outside it looks like a normal beach house, just pink. Inside you are met with a very architecturally unique design. Very calming and well put together. We would visit again.

Came here around 11 am on a Saturday. Traffic was very busy to get here but easy to park once we were there. There is a bunch of drinks, smooth bowl, and sandwich options. The inside is very cute with seating upstairs on the inlet and three outside patio seats. It is a nice vibe there. I ordered the avocodo toast. I really liked the lemon and goat cheese. I wish it was a little bigger but it was still good! Price was okay for ~$11. A nice meal though!

Their menu

It was my first time here and both of the items that I wanted on the menu were not available because they were out of biscuits and out of croissants before it was even 10:30/11. Unfortunately, I didn't feel like spending $12 on açaí bowl when on the island it's only about 10. The service was nice and the view was really nice but with the limited menu, and even more limited supply of inventory I wouldn't go back. My friend's previous experience also proved that they were also out of croissants when she came the last time, a month previously. kind of disappointing.

Such a cute concept. It's a big, old house. So many little areas for seating, from two at a small table to a group huddled up together on a couch. The honey on biscuit was to die for. I ordered my eggs incorrectly and they were gracious enough to scramble one up right quick. Staff were amazing and helpful, kind, gracious. Thank you from a mom of 5 and 7 yo girls. My daughter at one point started just eating the pieces on her plate because it was so good. Then finished her little sisters.

The service was great and quick. The coffee was yummy, and the food was delicious. I really enjoyed the view you had outside on the back deck and the inside was modern and cozy

The chorizo burritos were amazing and filled with flavor. The summer salt smoothie was filling and fresh. The service was good and helpful. The scenery was a vibe and so beautiful. 5/5 recommend!

This place was so cute! I went here for my birthday and it was an amazing pick. The view of the water was very pretty to see, and my açaí bowl and coffee was great. The service was very good and everyone was super nice. I highly recommend this place and the pitaya açaí bowl!

Acai bowl

Delicious cozy place for a light lunch or breakfast. Juices were really awesome. Bowl was great.

Cute cafe on the water with a view of the Surf City Bridge from almost every spot inside, and certainly from the deck. The interior is clean and inviting with lots of windows for great views of the waterway. Very friendly service with staff who really seem to enjoy being there and working with customers. My usuals are the beet smoothie and acai bowl. The beet smoothie tastes like a strawberry shake with a bit of a bite. The acai bowl is really indescribable. It begins with the taste of lemon zest for a flavorful brightness. The fruit is always fresh, and it is always crafted with artistic flair. If I could eat here every day, I would.

Avocado toast and egg and cheese croissants
Morgan S.

Had the egg and cheese croissant and avocado toast with bacon! I can honestly say this was the best avocado toast I have ever had! It was very filling and definitely made my mouth water! The aesthetic of this place is literally cute and very relaxing! Highly recommend checking this place out while on vacation!! Also the drinks were good as well! We had a dirty chai and Carmel macchiato both delicious. I love a good local coffee shop!

Cannonball smoothie

Cannonball Smoothie ! So delish ! With a unique taste you have to try it. 10/10 with a beautiful ambience. Fresh food !

Enjoy a great cup of coffee with amazing views. The cute modern building backs up to beautiful views. The menu offers smoothies, fresh juices, bowls, coffee and food. Draft beer on tap, wine and mimosas also offered. I would definitely recommend stopping by, grabbing a drink and then heading upstairs to find a seat with a view! Plenty of parking and some outside seating.

These had large chunks of back fin crab meat, and full of flavor. I had their soft shell crab, and it was done perfectly - lightly coated and fried. The crabs were tender and juicy, full of flavor. My dish came with fried green tomatoes that were crispy and tasty, and a healthy cut of cornbread. The cornbread was the best I've had - yeah, I said that twice, and I've been around. It was just the right touch of moist sweetness and full flavor. Delicious! We sat overlooking an inlet with several boat docks, including one for Sears Landing if you happen to come by boat. It was a beautiful afternoon, and as we ate we could watch boaters come and go. Nice setting. We'll be back.

Conveniently located in the center of Topsail Island, it was a 15-minute drive from our 2022 Airbnb stay. With next two stays at Saltwater Suites in 2025, the drive was less than 5 minutes. In the three stays, we had breakfast here six times. It had everything we wanted. My son and I are sticklers for routine. In the first four visits, we ordered the same thing: 2 scrambled eggs with toast & home fries for me, and pancakes for him. Orders were placed at the counter. Then we went upstairs to the dining area and waited for the orders to be served. There were no issues with the order, food or service during these visits. In both 2022 visits, I had coffee; in both 2025 visits, I had Mountain Dew. Refills are free for both coffee and soda. My order tasted better than a similar one I had at Tick Tock Diner in New York City. It was great value for money. I always felt that I ate enough to last me through lunch. There was no reason to try anything different. Unlike Tick Tock Diner, NY Corner Deli did not have any TVs in the dining area. I appreciated this as we go to the beach to get away from the world. Furthermore, there weren't many people in the dining area whenever we were here (before 9am). Can't speak for the dining experience at any other time of the day. Things were slightly different when we visited in 2026. Pancakes were not available, so son had french toasts in both visits. In the first visit, I ordered my usual; in the second visit, I tried something different and ordered western omelet (with toast & home fries). Don't let the photo fool you. The western omelet was bigger than it looked. "Hearty" is an understatement. It was so filling that I skipped lunch and had a light dinner. Mountain Dew was no longer available as the establishment defected to Coca-Cola, so I had Coke Classic both times. If you like a decent breakfast and a quiet atmosphere, New York Corner Deli is the place to be. It will continue to be our breakfast place whenever we are in the Topsail / Surf City area.

The walls are covered in black-and-white prints of the Brooklyn Bridge, sepia-toned yellow cabs, and metal street signs screaming Broadway and 5th Ave. The seating is divided into two thrillingly average, non-beachy options: Upstairs or Downstairs. Both levels feature the exact same standard-issue, wobbly metal diner chairs, with vinyl tables upstairs. The menu is an everything menu, nothing specific, no specialties, consider this a one stop shop for anytime of the day. It serves up a breakfast that is heavy, completely unpretentious, and designed to fill you to the brim. Like the rest of the menu, it doesn't aim for culinary innovation; it aims for maximum density and they are open when everyone else is closed. By the time you scrape the plate clean, you are utterly, heavily full and ready to take on the day. Cheers!

Party of 6 they told us 30 minute wait and it was maybe only 15. Even absolutely slammed it only took about 15 - 20 minutes for food to come out and everything was hot and fresh. Chicken and waffles, pancakes, chocolate chip pancakes, french toast made from griddled banana bread, everything was on point. If you're ever thinking of going to breakfast down the road at a restaurant that rhymes with "lunches" don't, come to Kate's and have an infinitely better experience.

Perhaps some of the best pancakes I've ever had. They had nuts in them and were perfectly spiced. 10/10. Red velvet was good, the cream cheese icing was quite tasty but they weren't anything too special. And the apple pancake was my least favorite; the apple filling on top tasted like it came from a can. Super sweet and didn't taste fresh. But the pancake itself was still good. This place does not take reservations and I was told the line goes out the door in the summer. There was a large line even while we were there in the off season during a storm. So if you want to eat here on a weekend, or the weather is nice, proceed with caution and be prepared to wait (standing outside--there is no seating while you wait).

We've eaten here many times, but this was their first visit. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a mistake. The food was very good, the service was excellent, and the restaurant was clean, just as we've come to expect. The problem wasn't the meal--it was a group seated at the table next to us. The group included a staff member (who was not working that day) as well as well as a family member of the owner along with three friends. They arrived one at a time and quickly became the center of attention for all the wrong reasons. They were loud, obnoxious, and their conversations were not appropriate for a family restaurant. When I say loud, I mean we struggled to have a conversation at our own table because they were constantly shouting over one another. They were also drinking heavily. New drinks were served before the previous ones were finished, and at one point, a half-full drink was simply poured into a fresh one. It was obvious that alcohol was contributing to their increasingly disruptive behavior. I was embarrassed that this was the experience our friends had at a restaurant we had enthusiastically recommended. On the drive there, we had talked about the owner's popularity and appearance on a Food Network television show. It made the experience even more disappointing to see someone connected to the restaurant behaving this way. Perhaps the next television appearance shouldn't be on Food Network--it should be on Jon Taffer's Bar Rescue. We will not ever be back!
