After reading lots of mixed reviews about other hair removal places ( wax,sugar, etc...) and calling a few places with all my inquiries about the process, I was definitely headed to Thumbs! The great customer service could be experienced through the phone! All of my many questions were answered and Thumb made me feel really comfortable asking anything! I have to say that I normally groom my own private parts, so this was a first! I get there and am quickly greeted. Thumb explained everything to me before anything happened which put me at ease. I braced for shock at the thought ripping hairs, but it wasn't that painful at all. I was pleasantly surprised! We conversed about our kids the entire time and then it was over. It went pretty fast. Maybe a flinch or two in sensitive areas, but nothing like I expected or feared. She is very thorough. The place is spotless and very well organized. I will definitely visit again.

My massage was great, even though I think it's absurd to pay extra for aromatherapy when that literally sets the tone and vibe for a massage. The masseuse did a wonderful job addressing my problem areas. On to my facial- the esthetician, Raleigh, was friendly. I scheduled the dermaplane facial. She didn't assess my skin before the facial, didn't ask about problem areas, didn't even tell me what she planned to do for my face. I let her know that I was interested the Oxygen facial and wanted her input for what I was trying to achieve for my skin- brightening and even texture, but said I'll let her tell me what my skin needs. Her only response was "this is a dermaplane facial". And that was it. After it started I asked if there was a heated blanket on the bed as it was cold. She checked and said there wasn't. That's it. She continually used a lukewarm, thin rag on my face through out the session. Afterwards, as I was getting up to my robe back on, I noticed Ordinary skin products on the counter. Not sure if this was used on my face but this is a dissapointment that they utilize these cheap products on anyone given how expensive their services are. When I walked out of the room, she showed me to my locker, said thank you and that was all. Nothing telling me about my skin or services as others had done in this very place. Overall this service alone has deterred me from coming back as I can get better services, better product elsewhere. It felt rushed and almost like she was there to do her job only, not to offer the customer experience one expects when coming to the Retreat.

Update to review: very quickly after I made my review I was followed up with by management. The…read moremessage was kind, helpful, and offered solutions to my concerns. Due to this level of care for my experience I wanted to update my review. I feel more confident now in trying again in future with different tech since management cares about resolving issues when they arise. I walked in and wanted a short set of white nails with 2 fingers with glitter. The nails took over 1.5 half and when done the loose glitter was super rough. I asked about top coat because I have had loose glitter done in the past and they stated "that this kind of glitter only lasts a week and they don't put top coat on it." I explained I wanted top coat because in my other experiences where my glitter lasted 2-3 weeks they added top coat and it smoothed it out some. I looked it up on and it also agreed that is the best practice and that the salon was either cutting corners or inexperienced. In addition to this whole getting my nails done the manager, a nail tech, and a customer where in a yelling match for about 10 minutes. It was uncomfortable, took to much time and I don't like leaving knowing my nails "should only last 1 week" when they are expensive.
