I debated leaving this review as I have had great experience with previous massages and facials- my most recent being in May. I went this past weekend for a massage and facial and left a bit dissapointed. My massage was great, even though I think it's absurd to pay extra for aromatherapy when that literally sets the tone and vibe for a massage. The masseuse did a wonderful job addressing my problem areas. On to my facial- the esthetician, Raleigh, was friendly. I scheduled the dermaplane facial. She didn't assess my skin before the facial, didn't ask about problem areas, didn't even tell me what she planned to do for my face. I let her know that I was interested the Oxygen facial and wanted her input for what I was trying to achieve for my skin- brightening and even texture, but said I'll let her tell me what my skin needs. Her only response was "this is a dermaplane facial". And that was it. After it started I asked if there was a heated blanket on the bed as it was cold. She checked and said there wasn't. That's it. She continually used a lukewarm, thin rag on my face through out the session. Afterwards, as I was getting up to my robe back on, I noticed Ordinary skin products on the counter. Not sure if this was used on my face but this is a dissapointment that they utilize these cheap products on anyone given how expensive their services are. When I walked out of the room, she showed me to my locker, said thank you and that was all. Nothing telling me about my skin or services as others had done in this very place. Overall this service alone has deterred me from coming back as I can get better services, better product elsewhere. It felt rushed and almost like she was there to do her job only, not to offer the customer experience one expects when coming to the Retreat. read more

I was going to be in town visiting for the day and was looking for a top-notch spa to spend the day in and came across Retreat Spa & Salon. I booked several services. When I arrived, I was greeted warmly by the girl working the front desk and filled out some forms since it was my first time. My first service was a massage by Dale. Dale has 17 years of experience, is extremely professional, and is a very good massage therapist. I really enjoyed our discussion and left feeling so relaxed. I then went to Kay for a facial as well as had my eyebrows tinted and waxed. Kay is very knowledgeable about skincare and just did a fantastic job. I enjoyed learning what my skin needed. She was happy to recommend products when I asked. I wish I had taken pictures of the before and after because my skin and eyebrows look so amazing! She even gave me her number in case I had any additional questions. My final service was with Candy. I was booked for just a haircut, but I really also needed color. Candy was super patient, asked me alot of questions about my hair, and without me asking, offered to also color my hair. I was thrilled she had the time to do it! She was also very knowledgeable. She taught me so much about my hair and made so many good recommendations throughout the process. The end result was amazing both in color and cut. I left feeling like a million dollars and looking totally different than I did when I walked in. I had the best experience at Retreat. If I could fly to Augusta every 6 weeks to spend time at this spa, I would in a heartbeat! It was such a wonderful experience! read more

This was my very first experience in a spa & it was absolutely magical. The signature facial is so relaxing & left my face glowing.

First time visiting the retreat (which was a birthday gift), I found the atmosphere comfortable, the staff friendly, polite, and courteous. However, I was a bit disappointed that the masseuse did not even address my areas of need (lower back and hips) focusing on my legs instead. Adding the foot massage, the whole thing was just shy of one hour, which felt short. I had a signature facial last week and was surprised that it increased to $95.00. the young lady giving me the facial took 40 min with 5 min leaving me alone. On previous facials the person would either attend to my hands or even my feet while the mask or steamer was on my face. I also had a full hour on my previous visits, vs. the 40min last week. I get really tense muscles from looking down all day at my work and computer, so sometimes I need a good massage to help me release the tightness. Retreat Spa & Salon is honestly so perfect for my needs. They don't just give you a plain kneading massage to help you feel good, they actually are able to locate the knots in your back/shoulder/neck/anywhere and they work carefully to dissipate the knots. I am a repeat customer for both the salon and spa portion of this wonderful business. They are very professional extremely well mannered and customer friendly. The interior is very well kept, organized, & clean. The receptionist are very welcoming and kind. I've gotten great color and cuts at the salon ‍‍& great massages and facials and other treatments at the spa ‍. I got a maternity massage and my husband got a deep tissue both for 60 minutes. The service was great we arrived on time for our appointment and was seen promptly. The waiting area was very clean and smell was very relaxing. That maternity pillow was a relief i was finally able to lay on my belly after months. I will totally return. Just finished with an hour massage from Jennifer. Cannot express how great this massage was!!! I thought at first the pressure was too much but I could actually feel her moving the stress around and out! From my neck to my feet the pressure was intense but to walk out feeling like I did was nothing short of miracle working. I have had Jennifer before but she has honed her skills, let me tell you. During my bikini wax Dayna made sure to explain what she was doing and she was very gentle (but quick). We chatted and she did not make me feel awkward at all. I went to Retreat today to get a 30 minute neck and shoulder massage. I am beyond pleased with the service I got from them today. The salon has a really relaxing vibe and the young lady at the front desk was friendly and welcoming. Meredith was the woman doing my massage. She asked me about any issues I have had with my neck and shoulders. I have TONS. I informed her about my neuropathy in my back and constant headaches. She asked regularly if she was applying a comfortable amount of pressure, which was great. I felt so much relief from the tension I've had in my neck by the time she was finished. She also mentioned they have military discount, which I forgot to mention at the front desk, but still great to know for future reference. New to the state and I'm very picky with my hair person. It takes me some time to find some. I'm very fortunate to be a part of a face group military spouse page where Kessler was recommended. I saw some of her work and was pretty sure I had found the one. I like sun kissed hair or ombré. So I need someone who is trained to do it. Well J Kessler was great. She vamped up my already ombré color and trimmed my hair. She was kind enough to put curls back In my hair like how I famed into the salon. There is lots of parking and the staff was wonderful. Really excited to get a mani/pedi done. I have been looking for a regular person and I guess I will keep looking. The only person that smiled towards me my entire visit was a hairdresser that came walking by. Not the receptionist, not my cosmetologist, not even other clientele smiled in that place....It was so sad and depressing I had to finish the visit just for morbid curiosity. This was my first time here. The staff was very nice and the spa was clean and lovely. My friend and I both scheduled 60-minute deep tissue massages. We were not told to come in early and, to be fair, we checked in 3 minutes after our scheduled time. We filled out our paperwork quickly but still waited a bit to be taken back. My massage began at 3:13 and ended at 3:58 (per the clock in the room). My friend's lasted the same amount of time. I asked the front desk staff if we should have checked in earlier and they said no because our therapists had appointments ending and beginning on the hours surrounding our appointments. I was disappointed that my 60-minute massage only lasted 45 - minutes. I've never experienced this before. Hence, the 3 star review. read more

Junita cut my hair and she did a fantastic job! She knew exactly what she was doing with my curly hair. I love their hair salon services and their prices. I have also had some waxing services, I liked everything about it, but the price. The price is what i paid for on in San Francisco where there is a high COL. Augusta, Ga is a Low COL area and I feel like the prices should match it. I will go back though, they did do a great job, i'll have to get over the price. read more

Went in for a maternity massage and left very dissatisfied. The therapist talked the entire time and would often stop massaging during a tangent. She complained about how tired she was and how she's done so many massages that day. When I flipped to my back she was haphazardly rubbing knots in my shoulders. I told her it hurt and if I could have her instead do my lower back again. She said no, that it would be 'too hard' to get me back on the maternity pillow (which is a pathetic excuse). When the session was over I noticed it was 7 minutes before my hour was up and the massage didn't start until almost 15 past the appointment time (going to room, undressing, laying on table and her coming back into the room). Not what I wanted from what was supposed to be a pain relieving maternity massage. read more

Unfortunately, the nail techs failed to impressed and spent my whole appointment time gossiping and complaining about various things in the company. I have had several services here. All employees have been nice, polite and professional. Jennifer has been great for both relaxation and hot stone massages. And Ande is very thorough and informative for facials. Tip: If you are looking for Brazilian wax, be sure to request Dayna as Ande does not do them. Ande DOES do a good job on bikini waxing, actually probably the best wax I've ever had. But I would have preferred Brazilian and I didn't know. read more

I'm not from around Georgia so trying to find someone to trust with my hair was difficult. I had long thick Hair an I wanted it thinned out with long layers. The stylist Kessler Davis said she knew exactly what I wanted, but I literally had to stop her from cutting my hair because I seen it was going into the wrong direction. I went from having long thick Pocahontas hair to looking like the Asian mans ponytail from Mulan when she was done with the cut. My hair was both, super short (above my bra; short) and had no layers. I went home and cried. I payed 35$ for my long beautiful hair to be destroyed. I was recommended to her from a lady I know but I would never recommend her to anyone. I don't know if she was just having a bad day (because she is very pregnant) or if she just isn't a very friendly person. My experience was horrible an I will never go back. I also waited about 25 minutes to get in the chair, that's a long time for a scheduled appointment. I'm now walking around with my hair in a bun because people are asking omg who cut your hair? It raises my blood pressure just to even think about it. read more
