After reading lots of mixed reviews about other hair removal places ( wax,sugar, etc...) and calling a few places with all my inquiries about the process, I was definitely headed to Thumbs! The great customer service could be experienced through the phone! All of my many questions were answered and Thumb made me feel really comfortable asking anything! I have to say that I normally groom my own private parts, so this was a first! I get there and am quickly greeted. Thumb explained everything to me before anything happened which put me at ease. I braced for shock at the thought ripping hairs, but it wasn't that painful at all. I was pleasantly surprised! We conversed about our kids the entire time and then it was over. It went pretty fast. All I could do was remember back to my first wax (at a different location) and how painful it was. Anyway, upon arriving I called to let the desk know I was outside. Not only was my reception warm and calming, but Brandi talked me thru the process, set me at ease and made me feel completely comfortable. I thought about a Brazilian for MONTHS before actually committing to call. A friend referred me and said she loved it, reviews were great so why not?! I booked my appointment (love that you basically say when you can come and they do their best to accommodate you), no issues getting a time. I took my acetaminophen and ibuprofen (ok maybe a little something for the anxiety too) and headed out. Pulling into the parking lot, it's easy to think "oh absolutely not". The building is unassuming, strip mall-esque. Walking in, not filled with the glitz and glam of spas I've been to (why did I think that was important??) . But the person at the front desk had an easy smile and relaxed manner, so I wrote my name down and waited, palms sweating, for my name to be called. I won't gore out the details of the process, if you've had a full Brazilian you know, and if you haven't, google some articles so you're prepared. Without any previous experience, I found the appointment to be polite, professional, and (blessedly) quicker than I imagined it would be. I was definitely coming back! I've been going for about a year and a half now (insert lecture about not going frequently enough), and at first I got a different person with each appointment. I finally started just asking for Thumb, I feel like if I'm gonna get up close and personal it may as well be with the same eyes above the mask each time. I haven't tried any of the other waxing services they offer but I'm sure they're amazing. Upon the advice of a friend, I went to Thumb's. I've been getting Brazilians for years but found myself hard-pressed to find a really good/quick waxing place here in Augusta. While living in Statesboro I kept The Wax Strip in business with both their efficiency and price, being hard to beat. At Thumb's on a Saturday, I had an appointment for 1pm. I signed in and had a seat. About 10 mins. later, Thumb was giving me a survey on my skin-type to be careful on what to expect. About 5 mins later, I was on her table. When I mentioned my friend, she would not say yay or nay if she knew her, as this is a "privacy" issue. No worries--totally understand. After we were done and I had shared some things about myself, I was fresh and clean with a side of therapy! Cost about $90. I would definitely say I'll go back again. It's unfortunate the options are limited as far as waxing goes here in Augusta. Because of this reason certain businesses charge way too much for basic services. After reading reviews I thought I would give Thumbs a try. She is very nice and makes you feel comfy which is a positive but when I went to pay - OUCH. Her prices are listed within a range - minimum to maximum but as far as I could tell there was no rhyme or reason as to how the cost is determined. I take partial blame because I should have asked. Anyhow I would understand the cost if the location was a top notch salon with decor to match but it isn't. I opted to give Thumb's a try based on previous reviews. She does not take walk-ins! Fortunately I called before I went in and was able to make an appointment for the next morning. Thumb is so sweet! She is very professional, she makes sure you know what you're in for and the overall experience is one of the best I've had for a bikini wax. The salon is clean albeit a little shady from the outside. Thumb is like a therapist too!
