We began perusing the menu and decided to start with the Arancini ("Cacio E Pepe Risotto, Tomato Sauce, Parmigiano Reggiano"). It's a stellar appetizer. I've had plenty of arancini in my time, but this stood out as a superior version. It was just so hearty and flavorful. And the accompanying sauce was perfect. For our pizza, we were torn between the Margherita ("Raff's Tomato Sauce, Mozzarella, Grana Padano, Fresh Basil") and The Annex ("Raff's Tomato Sauce, Spicy Sausage, Whipped Ricotta, Roasted Red Pepper, Hot Honey"), so it was a revelation when our very helpful and friendly server said we could do half and half. Both pizzas were phenomenal. They were bursting with flavor and the various components were all way above average. I'd have to give the edge to The Annex, though, because the combination of those ingredients really made every mouthful a total treat. I also have to single out our awesome server, who treated us each to a small glass of limoncello at the end of the meal. Now that's amazing service! Raffaella is a really cool place. I can't wait to go back.

The grilled zucchini was another standout; the zucchini ribbons were such a unique presentation, with fresh, balanced flavours that really let the ingredients shine. The octopus was absolutely phenomenal: perfectly cooked, butter-tender, and honestly one of the best I've had anywhere in the city. The highlight, though, is the gluten-free pizza. We ordered the Capricciosa, and if no one told you it was gluten-free, you'd never know. The crust is crisp yet chewy, and tastes like a traditional pizza, definitely not a compromise. The decor was welcoming and very interesting. I'm partial to brick walls and eclectic decor though. It was a great place to go for comfort food on a rainy day in Toronto. Server greeted us promptly and were attentive. The grilled calamari was yummy and presented well with olives and fresh greens. It was perfectly cooked. The lasagne was good but not the best I ever had. Lots of layers but could have had more sauce. It was still delicious. Great place to meet a friend or go on a date.

My first impression honestly made me wonder if it was really worth all the praise. By the end of the meal, I had my answer. Arugula Caprese Insalata A creative take on a classic Caprese salad. Arugula replaces basil, while a rich Parmesan cream stands in for fresh mozzarella, giving the dish a deeper, more savory profile without losing the freshness of the tomatoes. The balsamic balances the arugula's slight bitterness beautifully, and the juicy tomatoes cut through the richness of the cream. Fried capers add a pleasant burst of Mediterranean saltiness at the end. Simple ingredients, thoughtfully combined. Chicken Scarpariello This was easily the highlight of the meal. The chicken skin was beautifully seasoned and roasted until fragrant. Instead of being overly juicy, the meat was incredibly tender, with a faint blush of pink at the center. The Italian sausage had a firm, satisfying bite and a rich meaty flavor. I rarely describe roasted potatoes as "melt-in-your-mouth," but these truly were.
