    Assorted Naan platter
    Jim G.

Very nice little place located in Clinton Hill. Standard Indian decor, but not ostentatious. Our waitress was very friendly and the man at the counter as well. Lots of smiles and very welcoming. Now for the food: we ordered Lamb Vindaloo and Chicken Saag (two of my favorite Indian dishes). We also ordered, Samosas, Tandoori Mixed Grill and an assorted Naan platter. Mango Lassi as well. The entrees were good; I've had much better. I know Indian cuisine varies from region to region, household to household, so there'll always be variations in traditional dishes from restaurant to restaurant. Lots of favorable reviews on Yelp for this establishment, so it comes down to personal taste, and this didn't quite ring the bell for me. The Tandoori mixed grill was, well...I'm pretty sure leftover from the day before and reheated--at least portions of it (the chicken, for sure). There was Salmon included (not typical in a mixed grill). Samosas arrived still cold inside, which tells me they were either frozen or made a day or two in advance, or worse yet, not made on the premises and bought from a restaurant supply. Whichever, they were passable at best. The Naan was good, for the most part. The onion Naan was disappointing (onions were minced and only sweated, which made the bread too sweet. The onions should be caramelized). Overall, although the food left a lot to be desired, I enjoyed the dining experience. It's a comfortable place and the staff are very nice. But, that said, it always comes down to the main event--the food.

Naan, rice, samosas and curries were delicious!

Food: 100% full-on flavor Service: 100% friendly and attentive staff. The waiter heard me telling my friend thet I liked soca music and he had that playing a few seconds later. I LOVED that!!! Ambiance: 90% chill vibes, cool for lunch dinner and casual date. So good that I dine there in person and via Uber Eats. This is a must try! Bonus: Close to multiple public transportation options.

Diwali holds a special place for Hindus as a holiday, and Diwali Indian Cuisine, a quiet Indian restaurant in Clinton Hill, is a distinguished establishment that offers a unique dining option--if locals are willing to pay a premium. Situated between Spencer and Fulton Streets, near the Clinton and Nostrand stations, this area is primarily a Black community with African and Caribbean immigrants. In a neighborhood filled with American fast-food franchises and small local businesses, Diwali Indian Cuisine stands out as one of the few options for freshly prepared Indian dishes. I tried the butter chicken, a classic dish that set my expectations for a potential return. It was well balanced with its nutty butternut squash flavor, though, slightly sweeter than expected. Paired with white rice, it made for a comforting, hot meal--perfect for a chilly day or for anyone with a sweet tooth. The dish had a creamy, caramelized tang that was enjoyable, and the portion was fair. However, I found the price of around $18 a bit steep, especially as it didn't include extras like naan, seasoned rice, or any drink besides water. During my early afternoon visit, I was the only customer, which made for a rather quiet dining experience. Perhaps it gets busier during peak hours or relies on takeout and events like Diwali, given the name and cultural significance in Clinton Hill. Dining here feels a bit like discovering a Thanksgiving-themed restaurant in the middle of Coyoacán in Mexico City: enjoyable and culturally distinct, but somewhat out of place. The ambiance suggests it could be a nice date spot, with dim lighting--even with natural light from a window--and a small, intimate dining space. The customer service is straightforward: a single woman at the counter, casually observing from a distance. The fact that you can bring your own alcohol might be a bonus, as the atmosphere is so quiet that it lacks the liveliness or festivity you might expect from a restaurant named after Diwali. You may need to bring your own party to create an upbeat vibe. Many Indian restaurants, as well as those offering Nepali and Pakistani cuisine in Brooklyn, tend to be on the pricier side but often ensure a distinctive and peaceful dining experience. In this regard, Diwali Indian Cuisine fits these expectations.

Diwali Indian on Fulton St in Brooklyn offers BYOB and a menu with plenty of vegetarian dishes. They also deliver and have affordable lunch specials. The restaurant is very highly rated on both Yelp and other websites. The quality of their food is excellent for the price. I tried the lunch special this week, delivery. The lunch menu didn't have a lot of choices so I opted for the Chicken Tikka Masala Lunch Box. The lunch box included the chicken tikka masala plus yellow daal and Basmati rice. The largest portion was the rice, with equal portions of the chicken tikka masala and yellow daal. The price of the box was 13.95$ plus tax (and a service fee). The total was a little under 19$. The chicken tikka was delicious, not overly spicy. Not too oily either, which was nice. Some of the restaurants nearby really load their food with oil (and salt too). The food was well balanced. The yellow daal was very tasty too. I would highly recommend the yellow daal. I wish they'd included a side sauce or some chutney. As far as delivery goes, it's excellent. They wrap the food package to prevent leaks. Very good idea. Everything arrived clean & ready to eat. Excellent experience.

This place is small but decorated beautifully. You can bring your own wine or drinks. Which is cool. I work near there so can't sit in and eat /drink. The food is delicious. I did take out. They try their best to wrap the food so it does not leak. If you eat in there is another discount. My food was delicious

Our appetizers! From left to right: Achari Tandoori Mushroom, Moong Salad, Cauliflower Manchurian

Diwali Indian Cuisine is a WONDERFUL ADDITION to Fulton Street!!!!! The Chef is GIFTED!!!! He is a wonder with spices. Nothing was overpowering or overwhelming; everything blended wonderfully. Our starter was a tray of 3 appetizers: Cauliflower Manchurian, Moong Salad and Achari Tandoori Mushroom. When I tell you that these appetizers were amazing I am not exaggerating in the least. Vegans and vegetarians will love the options here. There's so much to choose from. I'm in love with the samosas, the mixed grill (SALMON was mmmmmmmmm mmmmmmm) the lamb vindaloo and I can't forget about the garlic and regular NAAN I'm hooked!!!!! We also had the mango and rose lassi's - yes you read that right - Rose Lassi's !! They were delicious, fragrant and filling!! I am so very impressed with the look and feel of this restaurant as well. It screams romantic! They have a very nice neutral bathroom that was clean and a good size! It's so hard to believe that this was once a chinese take out restaurant. Diwali Indian Cuisine has beautiful chandeliers and pendant lights that can dim. Perfect for candlelight dinners so I think we may come back for Valentine's Day!! It's the perfect setting. I spoke with the owner/ head Chef Tom who said he will rent the space for small events and he does catering as well!!! I'm so excited for this place. Service was great! Everyone who served us was attentive, professional and very sweet. Right now it's BYOB because they don't have a liquor license yet which is fine by us, we'll bring a nice bottle of red on our next visit. We didn't take many pictures but we'll be back (I'm sure many, many times) to try more dishes and will update this review!

    Appetizers

Blessed Sacrament Girl Scout Troops 2389/2568/2835 were happy to come together, not just to celebrate the Daisies/Brownies/Juniors/Cadettes/Seniors who were bridging to the next level in Girl Scouts, but we also had the privilege to celebrate four young ladies who were bridging from Ambassadors to Adults - effectively graduating from our Girl Scouting Program under Girl Scouts of Greater New York. These young ladies have dedicated up to 13 years to Girl Scouting and have been friends/sisters to each other through the majority of this journey. We consider these graduating girls our "CORE" - our troops' Girl Scouting program was built upon their ongoing participation and they have set a wonderful example for their Girl Scout Sisters coming up behind them - doing their "best to be honest and fair, friendly and helpful, considerate and caring, courageous and strong, and responsible for what I say and do, and to respect myself and others, respect authority, use resources wisely, make the world a better place, and be a sister to every Girl Scout." just as the Girl Scout Law deems they should The decorations were IMPECCABLE and BEAUTIFULLY DONE - far exceeding our expectations! Nora really brought the vision together, we just had to add a few personal touches when we arrived (a banner and a picture addition to the table centerpieces). It was really an elegant and elevated affair - just what we were looking for! Nora and the staff at Studio 17 Bushwick treated all of our guests with respect and professionalism second to none. Nora was extremely responsive to all questions and requests - I was happy to have a partner like her in planning this event. She really matched my own level of organization which was super helpful. Contract signing and payment schedule was super easy. And I received my security deposit back almost immediately after our event was over. The next time I need a small yet elegant event space - I will definitely look to Studio 17 as a FIRST CHOICE!

The bi-level bar and lounge was dark, swanky, and seductive. It would make an excellent spot for dates or groups of friends, like mine. We started off sitting at the bar, as there were no large tables available upon our arrival. However, after about 15 minutes, the host approached to tell us that he could actually seat us. I picked up my glass, which was wet with condensation, and it slipped out of my hands. I was able to collect it with only a minor spill, but the host insisted that the bar staff make me a new cocktail in case the glass had chipped at all. It was a considerate gesture that I greatly appreciated. Plus, since I had already taken a few sips, I was thrilled to get those back in a new glass! In terms of my cocktail of choice, I had opted for the Hot Tijuana Tease, a fiery blend of mezcal, blanco tequila, chile poblano liqueur, and lime juice. So, it was essentially a spicy margarita, and it was excellent. There were clean, crisp notes of peppery heat balanced with layers of robust smoke. My only complaint about the lounge was that the bathrooms were beyond tiny. There were two unisex stalls in a very tight alcove that also included a cramped sink counter. It was awkward and uncomfortable to share that space with another patron. Aside from that, the Hide Rooftop was a beautiful place with a friendly staff and interesting drinks.
