I decided to come here for lunch because I wanted to support a local small business. Regardless, I'm writing this review honestly. I ordered their Chicken Tikka Masala Lunch Box. The order came out to $16.28, and comes with Chicken Tikka Masala, rice, tarka daal, and one piece of plain naan bread. I'd say this was a pretty good deal considering sandwiches in the area are about the same price and this meal comes with a few extras. I ordered this to-go inside, and it took about 10 minutes. The employee was very kind. The atmosphere felt a little stale. I dined-in before casually, but wouldn't have a special occasion here. Tarka daal: I've honestly never had this before and wouldn't normally order this, so I can't compare it to others, but I thought it was good. I wish I had the option to pick a different side instead, but I'm glad I tried it. 4/5 Chicken Tikka Masala: Came with about 4 chunks of chicken. I tasted an unexpected sweet flavor with very mild spice. I usually ordered chicken tikka masala at Indian restaurants, but this tasted a little different from others I've had. When I normally eat this dish, I use a fork to cut the chicken because of how tender it could be, but this wasn't very tender. I'd probably order the chicken curry next time. 3.5/5 Rice: The rice came packaged in a container that made me think this might not have been fresh, but I'm not too sure. It was a large portion, so I only ate half with my meal, but it was good! 4/5 Naan: I'm a huge fan of naan, but I typically opt for other variations like garlic naan. I was in the neighborhood around 1:30pm on a Friday, and I saw that Omar's had decent reviews. There was only one other party aside from me inside, and they have a decently sized space. The interior has a nice ambiance if you do decide to sit down. I thought the special was a steal for $17.95! I ordered the vegetable samosas, naan, and chicken saagwala. The samosas were the hugest I have ever eaten, and the filling was very tasty. There was a bit of a kick to the curry filling if that's something you are sensitive to. The naan could have used a touch more moisture, but I liked that it wasn't charred and had some fluff. Regarding the saag, the chicken was MOIST, which is such a rarity in curry. The saag is also more on the pureed side, which I don't mind. Flavors were on point, and I only had to spit out one cardamom pod. When I sat down, they brought me a large bottle of water, so nothing needed to be refilled. Service was more impersonal, but maybe would be better if it was busier. The one complaint I had was that one of their employees came back from a smoke break, and the cigarette smell was so strong and disgusting. Omar's Indian Fine Cuisine is an authentic Indian and Indian Fusion restaurant that opened in Brooklyn, New York in November 2021. It was founded by Omar Khan. He immigrated to the United States from India in 1985. He worked as a contractor but always had a dream of opening his own restaurant. Beginning in 2010, he began to build a restaurant on the ground floor of a building that he owned in Brooklyn's Prospect Heights neighborhood. Little by little, Khan built the restaurant in his free time over the course of 10 years. When the restaurant finally opened, the menu featured classic Indian staples such as goat biryani, lamb vindaloo, and chicken curry. Omar's also featured a breakfast menu which was dominated by housemade bagels (a favorite food of Khan's). The menu also features New York-style pizza. Khan purchased a pizza oven and the restaurant had a small slice-shop operation. Initially selling regular New York pies, the restaurant eventually began making Indian fusion pizza. It was Omar's pies like the Chicken Tikka Masala or the Muglia that began to attract the New York pizza crowd. Khan sadly passed away in August 2022. Today the restaurant is run by his son, also named Omar Khan. I recently visited Omar's while I was cycling around NYC. I was trying out a number of Brooklyn breweries and pizzerias and this was my first third stop of the day. Although Omar's is first and foremost an authentic Indian restaurant, I had heard a number of good things about them from NYC pizza enthusiasts. I'm no stranger to Indian fusion pizza. One of my favorite Indian restaurants makes an amazing Chicken Tikka Masala pizza. How would Omar's measure up? Although a staff member handed me a menu, I told him that I already knew what I wanted: the "Chicken Tikka Masala Pizza" (signature tikka masala sauce, tandoor roasted chicken, fresh shredded mozzarella cheese, crisp red onions, fresh bell pepper, fresh diced garlic, ginger, garnished with fresh cilantro). The staff brought me some complimentary papadam to munch on while I waited. The pizza was very good; good sauce and lots of flavor! Although I would've liked a little bit more chicken and a little less peppers and onions. Also, I would have preferred the pizza to be a little bit more well done; I prefer my crust to be a little crunchier and not as chewy. Regardless, it was a solid pizza. A whole vibe and a great spot They put a spin on the classics at Omar's. The veg korma was hearty but not heavy. The bread top on the biryani was super cool. The masala pizza I wish had more masala flavor but it was a solid pizza with an objectively good crust. All the foods came out hot which is so necessary for stews, etc! We did have to call the waiter over a couple times but we were attended to quickly after. It's kind of a hole-in-the-wall. Wasn't sure of what to expect because the inside was kind of empty on a Friday evening. But the food is absolutely delicious. Service was attentive. We got the Mirchi Chicken Pizza and the Indian-Italian take was on point. The pie was made to order so it took a while but worth the wait. Buddy said it smelled just like Hyderabad. DO NOT EAT THE CREAM CHEESE HERE. Ordered two bagels with cream cheese, my partner and I each took bites and looked at each other in horror. The most sour, foul tasting cream cheese I'd ever had. I'm 100% confident it was fully expired, was probably sitting in that glass shelf for days before I ordered. We threw our food away to avoid getting sick. The only other time I ordered here I walked in for two breakfast sandwiches and ordered at about 10:30 am. Literally not a single other customer in there. It took half an hour to get two bacon egg and cheese sandwiches. The guy at the counter did literally nothing while I waited, and when I started asking about my sandwiches after about 15 minutes he just kept telling me they were coming. 30 minutes for two sandwiches is insane, especially considering not a single other customer fam in and ordered while I waited. Honestly I was pretty excited to try their Indian pizzas, but after these visits (and especially after realizing they serve food that WILL make you sick) I've decided to just skip Omar's from now on. read more

Omar's is a simple, no frills kind of restaurant, but if you have a hankering for delicious Indian food you've come to the right place. I came for the allure of their Indian pizzas, but stayed (and subsequently returned) for their excellent curries and stews. The pizzas are reminiscent of the pan pizza style, with a crispy, slightly thick crust. I've tried three: chicken tikka masala, mirchi chicken, and butter chicken. The mirchi chicken's probably my favorite since the vindaloo sauce stands out the most among all that starch and cheese. The others have slightly more subdued flavors, and the chicken tikka masala pizza has too many other toppings for the namesake ingredients to shine. The rest of the menu is massive because there are so many variations for each dish. The best one by far is the crab curry, an off-menu item that's basically a whole bowl of shredded crab meat stewed in a savory curry sauce. You can't go wrong with the chicken or lamb vindaloo, which is spicy and hearty from the red chilies and vinegar. The lamb chops, marinated and cooked in a tandoor oven, are tender and come with delicious roasted veggies. I also liked the flavors of the fish masala, with its tomato and tamarind sauce, although I didn't really enjoy the breaded tilapia (but they'd probably be fine substituting that fish for some other protein or veggie option). read more

Great sauces too, nicely packaged for delivery. Plenty of food & just the right amount of basmati rice. They also are willing to serve spicy which is lovely. The place was a little cold due to our seating but that was okay we just kept our coats on. Short notes: Pretty reasonable prices. Alright food. Would recommend the crab meat korma and lamb chops. Pizza is a fun gimmick. I went to this spot a while back with one of my usual groups having heard of their Indian pizza but we thankfully didn't just get the pizza and got a mix of other dishes also. The drink selection is more like your average deli or bagel place outside of them having mango lassis and related. The place is surprisingly big and the service was of course very casual. They gave us some papadum after we ordered with the normal mix of chutneys and it was fine (with fine but well portioned being a good description of most of the food here.) In terms of said gimmick, the Chicken Tikka Masala Pizza came with "Signature tikka masala sauce, tandoor roasted chicken, shredded mozzarella cheese, bell pepper, diced garlic, ginger, and cilantro." The actual pizza itself reminded me of the $1.50/$2 slices with rather sweet tomato sauce. The chicken on top of it was pretty tasty but there wasn't enough of the sauce so I found it to be a little bit too similar to a not so good pizza outside of it being topped with better chicken. We also got the Mixed Vegetable Pakora which was, "an assortment of vegetable fritters fried and battered in Indian spices." These were perfectly fine with a pretty light fry. Best of the opening dishes was the Paneer Tikka. I could have done with less bell peppers but it was nicely grilled and pretty well flavored. For main dishes, the best one was the Crab meat Korma which consisted of "crab prepared in a savory almond, cashew thick cardamom cream sauce." Not overly sweet at least below the shreds of coconut like some other kormas with a good amount of crab. Would recommend. The Lamb Chops, "marinated and marinated in spices and cooked in a tandoor oven and served with in-house specialty roasted vegetables" were also pretty good though very different being much more tender than most spots with a good amount of likely yogurt added though with less grill marks. Omar's Lamb Biryani consisting of "aromatic basmati rice cooked with succulent lamb and spices" was the other successful dish. Actually well spiced and the colors were a little bit unique compared to a lot of biryanis though perhaps it could have used a little bit more lamb. The Lamb Kalimarchi consisting of "lamb cooked with vinegar, curry leaf, and black pepper" and the Lamb Vindaloo consisting of "boneless cubes of lamb prepared with red chilies, hot spices and vinegar. Simmered in an aromatic spicy curry" were just alright. The vindaloo could have been a bit more sourer and spicier and the former needed a bit more pepper and spice also. The Mixed Naan Basket was also pretty good. Mid 3 rounded up for the generous portions and prices more than the actual flavor. read more

I was apprehensive about trying this place because "who makes good Indian food, pizza, AND bagels". I was walking by one day and saw the Indian Pizza menu and my mindset IMMEDIATELY changed. I had to the the pizza. My friend and I got the half and half pizza. Half Chicken Tikka Masala, Half Butter Chicken and I am blown away. The crust was crispy and the toppings were perfection. Everything was made to order, so super fresh... but a little wait. The wait was worth it. I will be back to try more of their Indian dishes as well. Like everyone else, we were skeptical, but we've ordered takeout from Omar twice and it's been delicious both times. The breads are a real highlight here. The paratha is flaky, the naan Is soft and pillowy, and they come to you piping hot, even for takeout. Some of our favorite dishes have been the mushroom saag, the bangan bharta, and the paneer tikka masala. I will note that the bangan bharta was a little inconsistent (the second time was less eggplant-forward), but both times were tasty. All of the entrees come with rice, which in NYC, isn't always a given. We're also picky about our raita, but the yogurt sauce here is thick, flavorful, and creamy. All of the chutneys that come with the meal are a nice accent. This is easily the best Indian food we've had in the neighborhood. It seems to be a family-owned business. You will not be disappointed by any means. Everyone is accommodating although not very attentive. I have tried Trader Joe's Frozen Indian dishes that taste better but that's no slight to Trader. Joe's will slaughter more restaurants when it comes to their frozen dishes. A massive vegetarian menu that mirrors the non-vegetarian options is available that's a huge plus. They were very flexible and let us customize the pizza with paneer. We had two pies each split two different sets of ingredients. My favorite toppings were the paneer and butter chicken. The baingan barthat is crazy flavorful as is the sabizi curry. Literally discovered this spot on a bike ride through the city and I've been ordering ever since. And let's be clear, NYC has some great Indian spots but my order from here is always piping hot, the quantity makes since for the price point and the one time I went in person, the service was great!
