This is a nice visitor center! It is CROWDED but there's a lot of turnover. Plenty of bathrooms,…read morereasonably clean (for a national park). They do have a sizable parking lot but that lot gets full FAST so if you want to park there you have to come early (recommended to come at or before 7am). The shuttle picks up here of course and I came around 6:20am; I was in the line by 6:45 and it was already wrapping around several times at the platform but the buses are big and particularly in the morning a bunch of shuttles come minutes apart so I actually didn't wait more than 15 mins or so to board one (I was on shuttle #3 of the morning). The organization is impressive, it's good they do it this way because the canyon would absolutely be loaded with cars otherwise!

The temperatures were literally 40° cooler in the mountains. I had an opportunity to get a permit to go up to Angels Landing. The hike is a rigorous hike because it's straight up uphill, but it's a beautiful walk. Highly recommend. The shuttles travel frequently and we were lucky enough to not hit the crowds. I've recommend getting the national Park pass so that you can use it on all national parks. It's only $10 more to get the universal pass than it is for entrance into just one part one time.

The first half of the trail was mostly flat with sand and lava rocks. The second half was a steady incline starting from the stairs. The end requires a little bit of rock scrambling to reach the cave. The views from inside and around the cave were spectacular. Utah residents ($15 entry fee) and non-residents ($20 entry fee). Decent sized parking lot to the left shortly after entering the state park. Trailhead and restrooms are located across the street from the parking lot. The only con would be that a small portion of the trail was next to the residential area. Short video of the hike for those interested! https://youtu.be/JekEJc_95hg

The views are amazing and there are plenty of parking areas to pull off to adventure hike or bike. The campground is about $35 per night depending on your camping needs (car/tent camping-fulk RV hookups) This facility has bathrooms and shower rooms as well as covered pick up tables for some of the full hookup sites. Weekends get busy so highly recommend booking online early.

I asked some folks going in about their waders; most people get them from Zion outfitters and I was told they're about $60 per person to rent (most including at least one, if not two walking sticks to help you keep your balance). I was also told they don't keep you fully dry, water still gets in but they do help keep you warm. If you go far enough in, the water comes up to your chest (assuming you're average height). Plan accordingly with your bag(s) etc. This hike is as long as you want it to be, the whole thing is the "view" within one of the deepest and most iconic slot canyons in the state - carved by the Virgin River itself that you're walking in. You can go up to 8-10 miles but most folks don't go that far before turning back. Even just the river walk out to the start of the river is really lovely though. One day I'll come out and hike beyond knee-deep :)

We rented dry bibs and boots from Zion Outfitter, which didn't keep us dry, but they were supposed to. It was fun struggling against the current with our walking sticks for support, and the first section was sunny and warm, but it became more shady and cold the farther we trekked into the canyon. The water was very cold in March, so renting gear is highly recommended. We just hiked to Wall Street and back, which is the recommended route, as well as a side path, for about a total of 8.5 miles.
