As part of our family trip to Utah's National Parks, we stayed at Utah State Parks since they had openings. It was a good choice. This is a nice state park with friendly staff and clean facilities. Depending on what side you're on, you get closer access to the modern restrooms with showers. The other side will just have restrooms. But either way, these are excellent amenities and exactly what you need after a long day of hiking. In addition, the park itself has some recreational activities available and is located on a scenic reservoir. Very good state park. read more

First time here, end of January 2026. Very windy when we arrived but campsite was easy to find and clean. No issues with hookups either. Staff at entrance gate were friendly too! Very clean bathrooms and warm inside. Well lit at night. Great views of the water during the day and stars at night. Quail creek was a fun day, expecially when paired with a jet ski rental. Summer temperatures can get into 100 and there's no better place to chill then by the lakes's cool water. Just note that the sand gets very hot in the summer and secondly there are a lot of rocks (medium size) along the shore. Be sure to bring water shoes. Jet ski rental was friendly and casual. Sometimes rental places go out of their way to blame you for damages you never did. This was hassle-free. read more

It's a nice state park of you want to hang there or drive a ways to Zion. There, it's pretty much just water activities--bring a boat or fishing pole, or rent some smaller boating options when they're open, but there's not much else. It's about 50 minutes from the main entrance to Zion. The campsites are clean. The tent sites come with a gravel pit big enough for one tent, two small ones in a pinch and pretty tight, a half-covered picnic table, and a fire pit with grill cover. There are 5 shower rooms by the RV area, you get a code when you check in, and the showers are large, clean, and have good pressure and hot water. There's one bathroom for the tent area and one for the RV area but that was sufficient during our stay. The staff at the gate are friendly and helpful. read more

No need to drive 4 hours to California beach. I take that back. No need to drive 6 hours to California from Vegas with all that traffic lol. This place is an hour and 20 minutes away from Las Vegas. This place is awesome! Today is Saturday the 28th and what I'm seeing here a lot of people riding their boats jet skis bringing and bringing their dogs in the water. You can go fishing here if you wanted to. On the beach people post up there little or big family canopies and enjoying the view! read more

My favorite thing about this state park is the geology. Yes there's a lake for boating and swimming. And yes there are some sort of fake sandy beaches. But the geology is the most amazing thing. Come see this place to stand in the guts of an anticline. If you don't know what an anticline is, look it up on the internet, then come here to see one in all its Glory. There are even some great geologic interpretive signs at the overlook. read more

Great place to be on the water, if you can park once you're launched. There is designated truck/trailer parking that IS NOT monitored whatsoever. The spots are consistently full with people parking their vehicles there. Given the simple fact that they can literally fit anywhere else & a truck & trailer has insanely limited space, it's ridiculous the lack of courtesy and basic common sense that people would park in the spots, but worse so that the rangers allow them to park there.... but by all means be certain you pay your entrance fees & your taxes for use & access of your state parks. read more

We stayed at Quail Creek State Park during our visit to Zion! It was a gorgeous site with stunning views from the lake, to the red rock and the terrain. The bathrooms were clean and not to far from our campsite. No showers, but with our short stay and frequent visits to the lake, we were OK with it. It has an water inflatable course as well as a island jungle with rope swings and platforms to jump off of! The beach is a tad rocky but once you get in deep enough, it's sandier and we wore shoes! We were able to have a fire each night. Wake boarders and fishermen were up and at it as soon as the sunrise, but it was awesome to sip a hot cup of coffee and watch them from our site as we made breakfast. We strongly suggest this as a GREAT campsite near Zion! read more

Quail lake is a very calm chill lake as its small and most speed boats stay away. If you like to kayak or paddleboard its definitely nice as its pretty much wake less in a lot of areas. You must get here early to find parking or park along the road and take a rocky way down if you plan on bringing stuff down. read more

We had such an amazing time here. The directions were easy and it was only $15 to get in. We rented a kayak and paddle board from the shop there and the prices were great. The dudes got us aquatinted and off we went. The water was amazing in every which way. The temperature was perfect and the color was beautiful. There was one boat on the water and a few other kayakers and people using paddle boards. Very calm and quiet. It was such a great day we had so much fun and cannot wait to come back. A beautiful location and the price is right but the hosts don't take their jobs seriously when it comes to bad campers. Noise until 3 a.m. the night after police had to be called on same campers. People all around them left and were not refunded their money because they couldn't locate a camp host to confirm the noise. Bad policy. read more

We had such a good time at Quail Creek, a nice hour and 45 minute drive from Vegas. We just went for a quick day out of the city, we saw fish, little crabs and lots of families enjoying their day! Would highly recommend drive out! read more

I was disappointed. The water was murky. Rocks everywhere, making it hard to walk. Bring water shoes or your old tennis shoes. No place by the water for my little girl to play in the sand, like at the beach, due to rocks. &25 parking for out of staters, like us. Fun warm reservoir to go swimming in. It's a relaxing place and it's fun to take your dogs. It's really rocky though. I recommend water shoes or it will really hurt your feet. read more

$20 entrance fee. Rentals for paddle boarding, kayaks, etc. people were tubing, swimming, boating etc. we rented a tandem kayak ($35) for 2 hours. There was one quaint little trail to kayak in between and under some trees. That was a nice tranquil path. Otherwise just kayak around the entire lake in the open sweltering sunny heat. They had a cool looking floating activity course which looked fun with a rope, rock climbing, slide, etc but you have To book reservations in advance. read more

Beautiful lake with views from your hillside campsite. Stayed in the new section and the bathrooms were gorgeous. Construction on entrance road is a bit harried and have to take a different way out. Only bad thing was the hooks on the shower doors don't work properly when pulling the door shut. Then electronic locks keep trying to do something and beep at you. Hooks are improperly installed. Sad to see something so minor on such a great new facility. Gotta work on that erosion too. read more

We came up from Nevada to try fishing here we arrived at 7 AM there was a line to get into the gate a $15 fee to enter the park. We pulled up to a parking spot with a peer as we prepared our fishing rods some of the locals ran past us down to the pier and claimed our spot. Saint George is very limited on places to fish and the locals here are very rude. read more

We visited for the day while staying elsewhere in the area. It costs $15 for a day use pass to park. They allow dogs. They will inspect your boat and must give permission to bring it into the water. We did not see the campgrounds but rather just parked near the entrance where there are covered picnic pavilions, restrooms, and drinking water spigots. The water was yards away from the parking spots and we brought tubes and kayaks for a few hours of water play. The water was a beautiful turquoise and it was the perfect temperature for swimming. There are small trees lining the shore for some shade coverage. The water immersed some of the trees at the shore so you have to swim/boat past the tree line to get to the blue water. It was a fun afternoon and not crowded. read more

PADDLEBOARDERS: We paddled around the entire edge and it was approximately 4.5 miles around. There were lots of shady beaches to swim at. It got very busy around the parking and rental area. $20 per vehicle but some people were parking at the Wildlife building and taking the stairs down to the water. It is a good time! read more

Had such an amazing time! Nice clear day perfect for the beach. Planned on going to Sand Hollow but left when we saw signs of swimmers itch. Quail Creek is beautiful. The water is amazing and wasn't that busy. Many benches set up along the beach to put food and other items on. Decided to rent two paddle boards. Workers were very kind and made the process very easy. Had tons of fun even though we all got sunburnt it was worth it! Will definitely be going again. read more

A very nice and quiet campground, and not crowded even if the campground is full. Each site is space apart so that it feels like a little private sanctuary. Each campgrounds are within less than 100 yards away from the lake. Tips: 1. If you came in after hours when the park gate is close and have a reservation you can park on top of the hill besides the road and hike down to your camp sites, I learned this the hard way we're I had to sleep in the car while waiting for the park to open again. (Lessons learned) 2. Even though each camp site has a built in gazebo; Always check the weather, not much of natural protection from the elements so when it's windy you can really feel it. 3. You don't have to use the designated swimming area, the lake is so spacious especially with the number of people they let in that you can set up you own little private spot. 4. No shower staions, just restrooms. Which should be fine when if you only stay for a couple of days . read more

Camped here for 2 nights, made reservations online and reserved lot #18, awesome water front location, easy access to the water, awesome views! The site fit 3 tents easily and 3 cars (there's a fee for additonal vehicles). It had a double picnic table with shade and fire/pit. The restroom was a bit of a "hike" to get to, and theres no showers, but it was quite clean. We camped with our 4 children (ages 2-18), the first night the winds were horrible gusting up to 45mph!! But the following day, the weather was clear and hot, and the lake was super calm! My kids played in the water for hours; setting up a huge umbrella on the shoreline helped beat the heat.. We also tried fishing, unfortunately no bite, in fact not a single person we saw caught any fish that weekend :( Overall, our family enjoyed our stay there. Its not a crowded campground, its very quiet and peaceful at night. We loved watching the sunset and sunrise. Definitely coming back, and will try to get the same spot. read more

Fist day we stayed beached floated in the water it was great second day we rented paddle boards and had a great time , reasonably priced as well . We stayed a total of 3 days because Zion national Park was full and it was my least favorite place. The shades they provide are pointed to the driveway so at some sites you get no shade except for maybe an hour. They have a TON of water bugs so that was nasty. Plus the water bugs look for shade until night time so they will "live" under your tent in the daytime and come crawl around and on you at night. The view is nice and there are a lot of people that frequent that lake but there are no real showers. The shower that is available is coin operated and it is outdoors. It is there to rinse off after you get out of the lake. There is an area for swimming so unlike sandy hollow down the road you can actually get in the lake. As of right now 07/2019 the park is under construction so the entrance is marked by a spray painted sign. You can't get in the park after 9pm which seems a bit illegal seeing that if there was a medical emergency of any kind how is an ambulance supposed to get in? They say you can't leave either u til the gates reopen around 7-8am but if you go all the way to the opposite end from the campgrounds you can drive out. There are spikes so you can't come back in from that way but you can leave if needed. The camp host is nice but doesn't keep others from screaming or cackling/laughing until almost 3am so if you're trying to sleep before a big hike like The Narrows that won't happen. Good thing about a hot day means a warm/cool night where you can take the top off your tent and star gaze. In all it's not worth the money to me, but if you have an RV and know of a dump station near by, Quail Creek didn't have one, or if you have a boat, jet ski, kayak etc. and enjoy water sports you may like this place as a day trip or overnight. There are some parks in town you can picnic at that have shade and actual grass not cement and rocks. I posted this same review on TripAdvisor. There are much better places to stay. This just doesn't cut it for me. Ps. Yes Utah is an alcohol control state and yes there is a state liquor store maybe 10 minutes from the park. They close by 7pm I believe and not open Sundays at all or any Utah State and Federal holidays. . read more

**This is more of a PSA than a review.** Our family was going to stay here as we make our way east. BEWARE OF THE CLOSING TIME. We noticed 9PM but did not realize that Utah is a different time zone as California so realized we wouldn't make It. We left at 2PM, assuming a 6 hour drive would get us to the campground with an hour to spare. One again, look closely at the time zone of your destination!! Sounds like Svetlana should have done some research about SW Utah & this particular park! Everything I read in her review simply points out ignorance on her part, and not an indictment about Quail Creek State Park! Is "omg. it is in the middle of nowhere" supposed to be a bad thing, in terms of a camp site??! The nice thing is that while it may look like it's in a remote area, it is definitely NOT, evidenced by the two Walmarts within a 10 minute drive. The "artificial lake" is a water reservoir! Quality is very good, especially for swimming, though there is more of an emphasis on boating here. Someone looking for a similar state park in the area that's better set-up for swimming should check out Sand Hollow Reservoir State Park, located just a few miles to the SE. Yes, on occasion it may have an algae bloom. or other bacterial issues, as-could any other body of water. read more

Beautiful site and the Rangers were awesome. It was relatively quiet and the campsites are not on top of each other. We arrived around lunch time in June and I was not prepared for the godawful heat. Maybe I'm just used to camping in the mountains but I did not expect 104 degrees. There is no shade except for the picnic table at your site. But you can always hop in the lake to cool off, so that gave us a moment of relief. The real reason for my poor review is the cockroaches. We put the kids to bed in their own tent a little ways away from the site. As we were relaxing after the sun went down in our camp chairs we started feeling things crawling on us. After turning on some lights they were everywhere: all over our bags, in my wife's purse, and worse of all they were starting to get into our food. There were dozens of them. When we went to bed I inspected our tent and didn't see any. However, we were both so freaked out we were unable to sleep the entire night. We checked on the kids and they thankfully seemed to be undisturbed, but we got out of our tent and tried to sleep in the car. Thankfully we only booked one night but we left quickly in the morning. I found cockroaches our tent and sleeping bags as I was packing up, and in our stuff when we got home as well. Just writing this is making my skin crawl again! read more

Quaint little man made reservoir just off the I-15 and Utah State Route 9 on the way to Zion. Only 20 minutes from St. George. This a pay access State Park that provides day use picnicking, water sports, fishing, and overnight camping. The West end of the park is shadowed by some beautiful red rock cliffs. Really easy spot to get to for a quick day fishing trip and the camping sites are all paved complete with a table, shade structure, open fire pit, and charcoal grill. There is a boat ramp and 2 docks. In close proximity to St. George makes it a doable overnighter for those not used to roughing it or families wanting a comfortable getaway. read more

We stopped by this because it was close to where we were staying while on our trip to Zion National Park. The view is breathtaking, you would think you were in the middle of no where with no water and then this place pops up along the road. We went in late August and the water was very warm, about 85 degrees. It's a must see, and if you have time you should go into the water. read more

You can't beat the views the biggest con is the 9pm back in. It would be nice if it was 10pm since it gets dark just before 9pm. I wish the rangers enforced the quiet hours. Several sites that managed to have three extra cars were very loud. I expect this on a Friday or Saturday but not a Thursday. Bring a solid hammer and heavy duty tent stakes. The wind was crazy luckily we had our stuff solidly staked in. The water stations are plentiful which was helpful pre hiking. This helped a ton for dishes too since they had great pressure. You can spring $2 for s shower over at Sand Hollow just plan for it. It took an hour with the line to get in and just 8 showers in the park. read more

Three of my sons and I went there last week for one night. The staff was pleasant and helpful and the reservoir is beautiful. I had a nice time except for three things: 1) The gates close automatically at 9pm, so if you forgot groceries, you're going hungry. 2) The gusty winds prevented a proper fire for grilling dogs for dinner. Cold dinner. 3) There were cockroaches EVERYWHERE. They were all over my boys' food if they dropped it. They were all over the path on the way to the restrooms. They crawled up our tent for hours into the night. ROACHES. If you don't like ROACHES, don't reserve a site at Quail Creek. read more

I am deducting stars for the following reasons: 1. Condition of the bathrooms. Someone pooped on the floor and no staff came by to clean it for two days, possibly more but we were gone by then. The bathroom ran out of toilet paper and soap. 2. Condition of the lake. There is no sandy beach. It has a very rocky shoreline with mud. Be careful or you will sink down like quicksand. Also there is a drought so it is quite a walk down to the lake from the campsite. There used to be a nice fishing dock that is now stranded in the rocks far from the water. The kayaks are pricey and confined to a small area. Very anticlimactic after paying less at Tahoe and Big Bear. 3. The gate is on a timer that closes at 9 pm. You will not be able to get in if you arrive late or if you need to leave for some reason. 4. You can't see it in the campsite photos but highway 9 borders the camp so you will hear traffic while camping. Pros: Nice staff at the gate. Warmer than usual water. Pretty red rocks and turquoise water. Walmart is around the corner if you forgot something like we did. Great view of the stars at night. Tips: Pretty much only enjoyable if you have a boat to take out on the lake otherwise go elsewhere. read more

We love camping here! The bugs are minimal, the lake is beautiful, and it is QUIET at night! No crazy, loud, disrespectful people like Sand Hollow. Most people are out for the day only, and if they are staying, it is to head out hiking and what not so they want to sleep at night also. The staff are very friendly and helpful and most everybody keeps to themselves. It does get windy, so bring extra equipment to keep your tent down! They also have really nice shade areas at each site. We like to stay here when we are doing a weekend in Zion and will continue to stay here in the future! read more
