Exceptional variety of wines given the small size of the shop. The proprietor is friendly, helpful, and engaging.

Classy and cozy spot at the beach!…read more They have a great selection of small plates, flatbreads, and a salad. Also have a nice selection of beer, wine, and cocktails. I had the arugula salad with duck carnitas. It was fantastic. Super tasty and high quality. Folks around me were all raving about how great their meals were. Space is cozy and rustic. They have a few tables inside as well as outside both in front and in back. Service was super friendly. Looking forward to coming back!

We were the first ones there so we chose an outside table. Nice space with the fire table. It's a little off the street so everyone isn't in your business The drinks from the bar were not very good. Also the server was not very knowledgeable of the food or the drinks. We got some duck tacos on special. They were amazing. Ok. Things are looking up. Then the showstopper was the meat and cheese board. So beautiful and well explained and lots of handmade wares on. One of the best, if not the best, board I've had. Top notch. So why the bad reviews. We got to chat with the proprietor and we definitely caught them at a bad time. They are having some transitions in staff so if you're willing to be patient, it's worth a shot

What a fabulously wonderful, relaxing restaurant / garden / petting zoo and gift-shop. The grounds are abound with potted plants and flowers. I entered what can best be described as a large, deli-gift-shop. Ordering takes place at the deli counter, a number is given, and food is delivered to your table. There is a fountain area, a coffee bar and a refrigerated cooler for drinks. The wine section is expansive and beautifully displayed. I can't speak to the quality, as I didn't partake in adult beverages. The shop is comprehensive with loads of deli-like merchandise, boutique items and souvenirs. They offer a lot of hand-crafted and locally-made fare, which is my preference. The food was outstanding! I order the cheese charcuterie with salami and my husband ordered the Blue Heron Classic. What a delight, and with plenty of left-overs. It was such a gorgeous day I visited the Candy Shop for an ice cream cone (Tillamook, of course) and walked the grounds for peacock viewing. The Blue Heron has picnic tables outside, so I sat and enjoyed the sun for a while. It was an ideal escape!

You can purchase in the gift shop and feed the animals outside. There's a donkey, goats, geese, and a few other others. I enjoy feeding them. The only problem this trip was I had my dog with me and he got a little crazy at the fence line. Part of the fence has chicken wire across the bottom but part of it doesn't and of course that's the part. My dog found it jumped inside. It was funny, not funny. Gift shop is great. I really miss going up and down the aisles and finding the pretzel sticks and samples of what's on the shelf. It was a good thing to look forward to and I enjoyed it. If you're in Tillamook, I would stop in. It's a great place for kids and picnic outside. There's also a separate candy shop on the premises. Great candy and some old school stuff that I had not seen in quite some time.

He's also happy enough if you want to just have a pint or play some Atari.....Atari?? Yep, Atari....... Oh, and they usually have Pliny the Elder on tap. Something about a connection to a 12th cousin, twice removed, who once washed the car windows of the creator of Pliny....or something. We tasted most of their wines (um, free tastings!!), consumed some pints, and bought some bottles. But more than that, we played an impromptu round of 80's music trivia with 6 or 8 new friends and laughed a lot in the coolest little wine/beer shop we've ever been in. Great job, Shawn!!!

Decided it was a beer day and vowed to buy some wine to take home for later. Simply stated, these guys rock. Have stopped in here a few times after adventures at the Pelican. Very cool, very down to earth. We showed up in our bike clothes( this is one relaxed tasting room) and were welcomed by Shawn, one of the owners. He had some cool music groovin', some old vinyls alongside the bar, and with my Pliny in hand, I wanted to spend the rest of the day here chatting up the locals. If I lived in town, you'd probably find me here more often than the Pelican. You can always find fresh Russian River beers on tap and for sale in bottles here. Ask me how I know? Why don't you ask them? :) The wine is really well priced, lots of Cabs and Syrahs, (try the Reversal Syrah!) and as they said on their menu, good for Wednesday, Thursday, Friday night drinking.... We noticed Chenin, Shawn's wife wasn't around that day and found she was at the PSU Farmer's market where they attend all summer. Shawn also told me you can find them Thursday evenings at another Farmer's market in the Pearl in Portland. Sweet. As much as I love coming to Pacific City, it's also nice to know we can find their wine in Portland in the summertime since they don't sell it retail in stores. An hour later, (maybe two?) we left smiling with two bottles of wine, the Basket Case Syrah and a red table wine in hand, and two empty pint glasses of Pliny on the bar.

But, even being a year round visitor, there are still some things that take getting used to like the limited hours for many restaurants. Even in the high season, the San Dune Pub is only open a few days a week and only during dinner hours. So, no lunch visits or late night drinking sessions. Also, no children allowed, just fur babies on the back patio. The best time to experience the San Dune is on a late summer afternoon or early evening on the back patio. It is a nice place to hang out sheltered from the traffic on Laneda and any strong wind coming off the beach. I've only ordered burgers and it hits the spot served on a brioche bun with a generous side of fries or tots. A funny quirk about the menu is that all of the cheeseburgers are the same price (currently $18). So whether you want a plain cheeseburger or the more extravagant Chipotle Bacon Chicken Burger, it is the same price. You can upgrade the side if you prefer salad or chowder. There are three large screens inside, so it is a place where you can watch a game, but there is also a wall with video poker machines that have the sound turned on, which is quite annoying. Personally, I'd turn left as you enter and stick to the quieter side of the dining space.
