The owner of this place had my vehicle for over 2 months before he finally worked on it then when he did the work was horrible and my vehicle is vandalized and he refused to take care of any of it this guy is a hot head and has no Integrity whatsoever. He says there's always two different stories just look at his reviews all the bad reviews not hard to figure this person has no integrity. Also I'm not in the habit of filing a false police reports which I did and I also do have a picture of before and after the damage as far as the actual repair my vehicle is running horribly as I don't think this person has the capability of doing repairs properly obviously. Went here, based upon a friend's recommendation, and found Bob busily working, and after he greeted me, I asked if he can do a Safety Inspection. He was swamped and told me he is booked up until the next day, and so, he setup an appointment for me, for the next day! I showed up on time, and he got me in and out in about 20 minutes! Just relocated and needed to get my safety done prior to registering and decided to come here. From the very first visit Bob and his staff were helpful, kind and explained everything thoroughly. He even pointed out a minor adjustment that I could make to my hood which taught me something new! For those of you that are new here the process is to get a safety check if you don't have one, register your vehicle and then return for your safety sticker. Wanted to fill gas tank, had to go inside. Wanted to fill it , asked how much, I sounded surprised, said I didn't know. Because my voice changed, cashier thought I had an attitude, asked me to leave. I merely was surprised however she must've been triggered. I hear the service side is great. Card reader seems always to be on the fritz hence having to go in. We had our vehicle checked at the required safety check time, and there were some problems that Bob was able to detect before they happened. Our seven year battery was about to go out after 2.3 years, so his notification helped us be able to get a new battery before it failed and left us without any transportation. Bob was also very personable, friendly and helpful with us, and we would not use another mechanic or vehicle maintenance person than Bob. I have known and done business with Bob for thirty years. That's going back to when he was on the mainland in Redwood City, CA. Bob has always been a really good mechanic. He always explains what he thinks needs to be done and then he does it. I had only one glitch in a repair and Bob drove right down to where I was and fixed it on the spot. No charge. He has always gone above and beyond in service. In the thirty years I have known Bob he has always been an honest, stand-up guy in addition to being a great mechanic and just plain nice guy. My mechanic that takes care of my auto repairs. No longer works there. I should have done more research instead of having the owner work on my truck. Cost me an arm and a leg. I should have gotten an estimate for what needed to be done. All in all. Not a pleasant experience. Tried to tack on more things to fix but when I confronted the owner he was not very nice. This business charged a $25 surcharge to use a credit card, without telling me. While it is not against the law in this state, it is definitely against the Visa/MC merchant agreement. Had my car serviced at Bob Dixson's because he's been friendly, and Mike, the mechanic, was always expert. However, with my last visit, Mike was not there (?) and Bob presented me with a four figure bill WITHOUT A QUOTE FIRST!! I'm mad at myself for paying it, but that's another story... A problem arose with my car FROM this very expensive service/repair and when I questioned Bob about it he got very angry and defensive. I caught him in a lie. I've been using Bob and Mike for about four years for all my service requirements on my 2010 Tacoma. I used Mike to replace the leaf springs when one of them cracked. I've found them to be helpful and mostly friendly. Bob is the owner. Mike is the lead mechanic. I will use them again in the future and have no problems recommending them to anyone with service and repair requirements. The biggest problem is that everyone else in town uses them too, so don't expect to "drop in" and be taken care of. They're usually booked several days in advance. read more

Went in for a safety check which is by appointment only. Asked the owner to make an appointment for first available, in which he yelled at me for when. What part of first available does he not understand! I was not hard up for a safety check, so I left and took my business to West Coast Detailing. They got me in and out with no appointment and was treated with respect and genuine care... Never been treated like that at any business especially at times like these. worst experience ever! so my car had a problem with the air conditioning system and my co- worker suggested to go to this shop for estimate and repair coz he said he is not gonna charge me that much. i just paid $1500 for the service and everything. but the worst part is that they made a crack on my windshield and they don't want to admit it. instead of saving a lot of ,money i have to spend more out of my pocket.so i have to file a claim on my insurance just to have fix my windshield... never go to this shop again. read more

would not recommend. power steering liquid was leaking. i was told the wheels were coming off my car but not sure. anyway changed strops and springs. he also changed battery - probably no need and i had not asked for it i agreed to do repair if less than 3000k . bill was 3700k . my mechanic in hilo told me he could have done same job for $900 including springs, but he also said it was no need to change springs. not sure, but my feeling is that this store charge you too much - 4 times more than my own mechanic in hilo. almost unbelievable. he also told my friend that he needed repair for $900. however a very reliable mechanic in hilo charged her only $45 since the other things he had asked him to repair was still ok but maybe in the future. will not come back since i could have bought another car just as good for the money i had to pay this shop. always shop around if somebody ask for big money is the lesson i learned from this visit. read more
