I had a wheel stud that sheared off and after struggling to make the repair myself, I finally gave up and brought it in (the rotor had seized to the hub). The book says this job is 1.5 hours. When I got there, they told me they would charge me for .7 hours for the job. I had the stud and lug nut so they just had to remove the rotor, knock out the old stud and press the new one in. Anyway, I've decided to have my car serviced (if needed, since I do most of the work myself) here from now on. I have had nothing but great experiences with this particular shop. They put a new tire on a wheel for me at no charge (it was off the vehicle), they broke free a couple of seized lug nuts at no charge, they balanced a wheel for me at no charge because it was a Goodyear tire, and now today, they didn't charge me the full 1.5 hours of labor like they could have. I am very happy with the service and the aloha here at Goodyear and will bring my vehicle back when needed. read more

I had a very simple service that needed to be done, a tensioner pulley. Takes no more than 30 minutes. The guy at counter told me some crazy life story of why he was charging me triple the amount of what should have been the average charge of $150. If you want to be ripped off come here. If not goto anywhere else. Oh by the way I also supplied my own parts which he said was a one time thing and made another BS story. I bought the manufacturer's recommended brand and parts, brand new in package so there would be no problems. Still had backlash and excuses. Will never come here again and if your reading this go to Napa or call fearless towing and mechanic. I was waiting and they were aware. 2 hours later and i looked outside and saw my car parked in the lot. I asked how long it had been doen and they said for about 1 hour... rather frustrating. I had my car towed to Goodyear to get a loose lugnut out that was stuck in the wheel [tire change mishap at a different tire place]. Initially they said I would need to wait 2 days to have my car worked on, however Joe and Ikona (I hope I got the name right) decided to have a look as soon as I got there. They determined that it was something they might be able to fix quickly and they started right away. They were done removing the lugnut in 5 minutes and I was out of there on my way back to Hilo. That has been by far the worst tire replacement experience I had in my entire life. They are understaffed, have no clue which tires they have in stock and where they are located. Don't use their online service - they will allow you to select tires, schedule an appointment, they WILL CONFIRM the appointment, you will call them and they will tell you that tires are available, you will show up only to learn that they actually never had these tires in stock. STAY AWAY!!! Oh, and if you insist and get some tires installed expect an absolutely abysmal quality of installation. I will be definitely searching for another shop for my next service. read more

They are probably the most economic tire center in town, but here is what happened to me. Last time they monted a tire set on my van which was not rated for the vehicle. Result: the tires didn't last very long - less than 8000 miles and one tire had a flat because a broke tread. They also broke one lug nut when they rotated the tires for me and they fixed it by putting a steel spring inside the lug not, so it looked right! They also didn't change the stems as they told me, because of the TPMS censors, which they broke one too. Conclusion: price wise o. k. but check who is working there before you do business with them. I needed a safety check and new tires to stopped in at Goodyear. Employee Robby asked if I needed help and after I told him I was pricing tires, he was able to get me a pretty decent price on four tires and fit in my safety inspection Told me he was able to fit me in at 1pm so I left and came back at 1230p. I can't properly express just how appreciative I am of the service I received this week from GY. It is so refreshing to find a place that completely lacks that apathetic vibe one so often finds on the island. After trying three other places, I took my tire replacement to GY, and had the tire removed from the rim, replaced with a new one (that I had to order myself after waiting a month without any follow up from Brodie's...) fully rotated and remounted all with a smile and wonderful attitude and done in about 15 minutes. By comparison Firestone took over an hour to let me know that the tire needed replacement. They too never followed up after I asked several times to order it. Plus the mechanic felt it necessary to adjust my seats to lay-down cruise mode and change radio stations for the three second transfer of twenty feet from the parking lot to the bay. When you call ahead and schedule a service you expect to go at the appointed time and get the tires that you had been told were in stock. Well apparently this does not apply here. Made the appointment was told the tires were in stock and was quoted a price. When i got there the manager told me sorry but we only have 3 of your tires in stock. I said but the tech i spoke with just told me that you had the tires in stock and they were being held. Not so!! Then the mgr tried to up sell me me to wayyyy more expensive tires.... No thanks!! HOWEVER, they refused to give me my old tires as it was "goodyear policy;" then I asked about the $14 tire disposal fee and was told "it's a fee to dispose of the new tires;" they also refused my request to not change the tire stems (at my expense.) I've had good service experiences here for two years now. They're fast and thorough, good communication with both me and technicians, and I get solid advice. Customer service is top notch and prices are more than reasonable. They'll always have my business. Goodyear ComforTreds were the best tires I ever bought, but I got a different brand online last year and these guys put them on for me. Les Schwab wanted $300 just to mount outside tires. They're attentive no matter how small the service and they explain everything carefully so you know what you'll be paying and why, what parts need ordered if any, etc. I've never had to wait if I've made an appointment, they're ready to go. I've had some weird experiences around Kona. Difficult to understand pricing, bad word of mouth. I went into Goodyear and immediately saw all of the pricing on the wall. Clear and simple. Got helped immediately and set up an appointment. When I came in to drop off my car I was greeted by the manager who was very friendly and was specific in what I needed to do. I was getting an oil change, tires rotated, and an inspection. He stood there patiently while I made my calls to gather my insurance information. When they were complete I got a call and come to pick up my car, I got a price that was less then the original low price quote I had. Very well priced for the service I was provided. Avoid Goodyear Kailua-Kona. They will schedule your appointment and not show up for their own appointment. They scheduled my tire change for 8 am. I showed up on time, but the doors were locked and store was closed. Several other guests were there with confirmed appointments. One lady was there to pick up a vehicle from Goodyear! They scheduled her pickup, but didn't show up and left her stranded. We all showed up on time, but Goodyear did not. We all waited 15 minutes and tried knocking on the door. Finally, we walked behind the building and saw an employee listening to music. She (Kayla, Kaylin?) took out one headphone and told us she decided not to open the store today?! We all reminded her that they confirmed our appointments and some of us drove over an hour. She took out only one headphone and said, "We didn't have time to call you guys to tell you not to come today. Too busy to call you guys and phones don't work that good here." There was no attempt to email us or anyting...again, we all showed up on time, but Goodyear didn't. I asked what their hours will be during the week and she said "Haven't decided, probably closing early sometimes if we feel like it." I asked to speak to a manager and she told me they don't have one. This Goodyear is NOT to be used! Several guests were there with confirmed appointments but Goodyear decided not to show up. My mother purchased a new set(4 tires) from this Goodyear a year ago, also they sold her road hazard insurance...which meant that for the life of the original thread of the tire should she get a flat due to a road hazard she would be able to come in and they would replace her tire. Driving to work this morning she ran something over, took the rest of the day off and drove in to get her tire replaced. They took 2 hours to tell her that they no longer carried the tires and that her road hazard insurance was now void because they discontinued it. The only option they gave her was to wait until tomorrow to bring in a comparable tire from Hilo which would cost 140 dollars. She explained that she took the day off from work to get this issue fixed and all they said was "she should have called" they are horrible! read more

I dropped my 2013 Nissan Altima off at the Goodyear behind Target in Kona and was told to expect a call after the car was looked at. When I got the phone call, it was very informative and all my questions were answered. Tim thoroughly investigated what was causing the squeak and addressed all of my concerns. When I picked up my car I could feel the difference, and it was not squeaking anymore. The best part was Tim's customer service. Tim is someone who actually cares about his customers and their needs.
