I love working with DJ Dais. Having thoroughly appreciated his professionalism and appropriateness at the corporate event that I had planned in 2011, I decided to use him for my wedding this January. He was just as professional as he'd been the first time. He arrived super-early for setup on the day of the event, was easy to communicate with in the months leading up to the event and was very organized. I sent him the most disparate list of music (including 90s hip hop and R&B, disco, and ballroom dancing), and he managed to play all of it without sounding jumbled and confused - great transition choices! My husband & I could not have asked for a better wedding DJ! From the very beginning, not only was he straightforward on his pricing and what services would be included in each package, but he also spent a great deal of time listening to what we wanted and asking us thought-provoking questions along the way to be certain that he delivered the exact experience that we wanted. He was by far our most attentive vendor, taking the extra steps of 1) requesting a venue walk-through with us, 2) offering a touch-base phone call the week of the event for any of our questions/concerns, and 3) getting there early on the day-of to prepare his equipment. He is strategic and operational; however, he is also very good at explaining his work and making sure you understand how/ why he makes the decisions the way that he does. A few weeks before the big day, we decided on the song for our Father-Daughter dance. Since it was lengthy and had a mix of slow and fast tempo, I asked DJ Dais for some advice on whether or not it would make sense to shorten it or scrap the idea altogether. 2 hours later, he sent me an audio file with a sample of his first try at shortening the song, and BAM it was perfect! No changes needed. All of the music and MCing went very smoothly that day; he checked in with us a handful of times throughout the night to keep us on track and created a fun atmosphere for our guests. Near the end of the night I was pulled away from the dancefloor and returned right as one of my requested songs was ending - my friend quickly ran over and asked if he could play it again because the bride missed it and he immediately replayed it to my delight! For most of the reception, it seemed like 90% of our guests were on the dancefloor, which we had always wanted. Dais is a true professional. From the onset of our communication, Dais made sure to ask questions and listen to what was important to us on our wedding day. He came up with solutions for everything we wanted, set clear expectations on both ends, joined us at the venue to coordinate logistics, kept us on task, and made sure we had everything worked out well in advance. On our actual wedding day, Dais was one of the first to arrive. He took care of all of the lighting and sound for the venue. Dais also managed the flow of the entire evening, providing smooth segues throughout every step of the event. When it was dance time, Dais showed the mastery of his craft on the turntables. His technical abilities are spot on and he's playful with his transitions between genres that probably shouldn't blend, but he makes it work so as to cater to a diverse audience. Having Dais as our DJ, I realized how integral a part of a wedding event, a DJ really is. A professional, like Dais, does way more at a wedding than one would realize. Basically, if everything runs smoothly, it's because there's a pro running things behind the scenes like Dais does. DJ Dais is AMAZING. He was our MC/DJ extraordinaire and did the lighting for our wedding reception a couple of weeks ago. He transformed an empty room into a beautifully warm and inviting reception area using LED uplights. When we initially met with DJ Dais, he took the time to speak with us about our vision and the type of lighting we would like. He was quick to respond to emails and provided us with sample photos when I had questions. Months after deciding on one of the wedding packages, we decided we needed to add more lighting since the venue had forewarned us that the reception area can be a tad dark if not properly lit. DJ Dais was accommodating and gave us suggestions on how to remedy any concerns. At the reception, he kept the pace of the events moving - there were no uncomfortable lulls but it didn't feel rushed. Daisuke was by far one of the highlights of our wedding. Leading up to the event, Daisuke was always extremely responsive and very polite. I had a bunch of questions for him, but it never seemed to phase or bother him. He was exactly what we were looking for in a DJ - organized, not cheesy, and someone who understands music. Even when we were running behind schedule (due to transportation arriving late), Daisuke calmly came over and informed us about the timing and asked if it was okay if we sped things up. His professionalism and calm demeanor made it so that none of our guests knew we were running behind schedule, and no one reported feeling that our reception was rushed. In terms of his musicality, my dad, who teaches graduate music students, was thoroughly impressed. Daisuke has an incredible way of making transitions between songs seamless, you don't feel like you're being jerked around between songs and genres, even though he is incorporating a lot of styles! Daisuke also did the lighting for our reception facility and WOW! It was stunning! The walls were naturally a light gold, but we wanted a blue and silver theme. We asked Daisuke to use blue uplighting to cancel out the light gold walls and he did a phenomenal job setting it up. I would recommend Daisuke to anyone, and already have passed his name along to quite a few of our friends. Dj Dais was not only an amazing talent with great equipment, but really blew me away at how much prep. work went in to helping my now wife and I plan out our wedding ceremony and reception. He was gracious in handling our venue's special requests and made really good suggestions that helped us pick our music and plan the night. He is kind, a GREAT listener, professional, valuable, accommodating, and a great DJ period. He was always there when we had questions, whether it was via email, text, or phone call, he was always there. As every normal wedding couple, we were stressed the last two days and DJ Dais made sure everything will run smoothly. He also helped us pick out a couple of songs and also helped brainstorm some. On the wedding day, he and his assistant made sure we were comfortable with how things were going, and always checked in on us about the timeline so we can all be on the same page. When we or our guest had a song to request, he tried his absolute best to make sure he can find it so we can have a good time! I award DJ Dais five stars, yet... Five stars? Inadequate. DJ Dais' review deserves to go to eleven stars if only ten were possible (as the old joke from 'Spinal Tap' goes). Why? Because that's what you get when you hire Tustin, California's DJ Dais - you get a show that goes to eleven on all fronts. Fantastic work of the highest grade. My fiancee and I had quite the logistical challenge on our hands: we live in the metro Washington DC area and were planning a wedding on the West Coast, where she's from - both a traditional Vietnamese Tea Ceremony and a vows ceremony later that day held in the hangar of a vintage aircraft museum, with the reception held in the adjoining room. We contacted DJ Dais and explained the situation. He was as cool and professional as they come (special note: unlike many of his competitors, DJ Dais makes it very very easy to figure out just how much $$ you will spend on your event, what you are paying for, and what equipment/setup will come with this package, as most of this info is posted right on his website. As he so aptly puts it "because you don't have time to email every DJ for their pricing" -- this separates DJ Dais from the pretenders). We had two challenges, one setting up audio in a airplane hangar (not the typical A/V challenge associated with a banquet hall, etc) and two lighting and A/V setup in the adjoining room for dinner, dancing, etc. DJ Dais is a professional and an innovator - when he discovered the reception room was a display space for antique aircraft, as well as a space, he came up with great lighting and setup for the space which really made things pop. We worked with him flawlessly, by email, to work out details on space, where power outlets would be, where the projector screen was located and the optimal place for the dance floor. He was also able to accommodate a curve ball (and surprise for the bride and guests): myself and my officiant followed the speeches with - a song. We just needed one mic for our voices and instruments, and DJ Dais made the switch work fantastically, with no feedback or other issues. And, the music: As a professional, DJ dais appreciated the clear direction and style we had in mind. I worked to come up with a setlist broken down by time frame - cocktail hour, dinner, speeches events, and then dancing - and he helped fill in the gaps. He seamlessly wove the various styles we had at play, from classic jazz and R&B, to 70s Funk, to 1980s New Wave, and even classic country. Believe me when I say, DJ Dais is a master of the art of turntables and can make anything flow. "Get Up Offa That Thing" let everyone know it was time to get down. Black Eyed Peas "Pump It" flowed into Dick Dale's "Misrlou" got everyone on the floor. Flow and style, with ease. Digable Planets to Tammy Wynette's "Stand By Your Man" into Ariana Grande's "Break Free" - how is this possible you say? Not only is it possible, it was masterful. Months later, we still get comments from people telling us how much fun they had that night, and DJ Dais was inseparable from our Big Night's success. We just returned from our honeymoon (so I'm little late in getting reviews posted for my vendors), however DJ Dais did an amazing job DJing our cocktail hour and reception on June 14, 2014 at Bommer Canyon, Irvine, CA!! We received a lot of compliments on our music selection during the cocktail hour (which we chose a mix of country and classic rock), as well as dinner (which was country & love songs) followed by dancing (all pop music!)... DJ Dais made sure he played all of the songs we requested and ensure the wedding moved along with our timeline (and in conjunction with our coordinator since we were running a bit behind due to our dinner running long). I echo everyone's sentiments. Dais was the first one to get to the venue and the very last one to leave. We know, we even asked if he needed help getting things to his car. He did a great job working with the live magicians and musicians and getting the party started when the DJ portion got started. At one point, I literally ran from our ice cream truck to the dance floor when "motown philly" came on. My cousins were on the dance floor at that point and that was their old school jam. I even threw in some kpop and he was able to seamlessly weave that into our music. I know my friends who enjoy kpop recognized almost every song. :) He did a great job moving the event along and since i've assisted in a few weddings, I know what it takes to be a great DJ. Regardless that he's my (now) husband's buddy from high school, he rose to the occasion and I would recommend him to anyone getting married. And you know what? He was worth it AND MORE. He came early on the wedding day (12.29.12) to scope out the venue, set up, communicate with the catering manager. Also, we had to move our ceremony indoors at the last minute, and he worked with the venue to creating a beautiful ceremony room with his lighting. DJ Dais was awesome at making sure the event went smoothly, and on schedule. He was the best wedding coordinator (not his job, but it was like having a coordinator! and DJ! ) The light set up was beautiful, and the feel of the room was exactly how we envisioned it. Dj Dais is such a talented dj. My fiancé and I hired him to dj our wedding this past weekend and we couldn't have been happier with our choice.
