However, I did not enjoy my experience at Studio Monroe this Thursday at all. I booked a simple brow and lip wax, which was blocked for 15 min period on their calendar invite. I showed up to the studio about 10 minutes early and was told Katie was with another client. No big deal. I was early, right? Wrong. I waited 20 minutes past the time my appointment should have STARTED and was told nothing from the person working the front desk. After 20 minutes, I told the front desk person that I wanted to cancel my appointment, which she agreed to. I mentioned someone who had gotten there later than me being helped first by Katie, only to receive the response that that person had an appointment booked before me. So, why did someone who had an appointment before me show up later than me? I wasn't massively early, only 10 minutes. Was that individual only blocked for 5 minute appointment? Is that even possible? Was she notified that Katie was running late? Why wasn't I told there was another appointment before mine that she hadn't gotten to yet, when I first checked in? After all that, I left. Katie did reach out to me to apologize and offer a complimentary wax, which was a very nice thing to do. I wasn't overly thrilled with the outcome even though I wanted to simply keep the same shape, but was too afraid to say something since I had already made a point about the lateness. All in all, I will not be returning to Studio Monroe. I canceled my future waxing appointments I had set up with them. I had high hopes since I really enjoyed my visit to Xscape Salon under same management. I wouldn't say the wax job was bad by any means, but just not what I was looking for (i.e. my brows ended up more rounded and wider set than I like). My biggest gripe is with the front desk and customer service. If I was rating just the wax, 3 stars. If I was rating just the front desk/customer service, 1 star. Overall, met in the middle with 2 stars.

    I don't know who the nice person the reviews reference might be, but it is certainly not who I had…read morethe displeasure in meeting. I was looking for a salon, and was interested in this place. It appears to have good reviews, is a local small business, and is close to my house. Since it was late evening, I reached out via the FB messenger link on the business profile page on FB. I did get a response noting that they do not necessarily see the FB messages, but arranged an appt for 1pm today. They also requested that I send confirmation information to the phone number given for the business. I opened a text and sent the requested confirmation. I got no reply for a couple of days, so texted the business again to request confirmation. I was asked to send a screenshot of the messenger information to the number. I did this. I got some puzzling snarky responses about them having asked me to send the information to the business number, but it seemed the appointment was confirmed. I did have some misgivings about the appt given the prior conversations, but wanted to support local, so figured maybe I was taking things differently than intended, and went anyway. The second I walked through the door and identified myself, I was attacked about "having some issues online" and that I had not sent the information to the number requested, hadn't followed her request, and she only saw the messages because she happened to be on her phone. I showed her that I did send the information via text to the number provided. She then claimed that I was texting through "an app" and unless she pays to participate in that she doesn't get messages. I have no idea what she is talking about- I sent the information via text, to the number provided. I use a texting platform, as all texting is through a platform regardless of what phone and operating system, and all platforms are "apps". It was addressed to the phone number and would only be directed to the phone number listed. The messages did get to her as she was able to respond . I have no idea where messages to that phone number would go if not to a text inbox, which is the platform that she would be using on her phone, and have nothing to do with me. The platform I use is what I use for all of my texting correspondence to all of the people and businesses in my address book, and this is the only person ever to claim to be unable to get messages. In the end, I was responding to her requests as directed to the best of my knowledge. Her responses gave me doubts, but I still wanted to give the benefit of the doubt as tone cannot be interpreted in writing, and I want to support local. Instead I got berated the second I walked through the door and denied service. Apparently due to her tech difficulty, we are not a 'good fit' and she doesn't want to be bothered with the hassle. I have no idea what the hair skill level may be at this place, but the customer service is beyond abysmal. She could not even have been bothered to tell me not to come, so I could look into scheduling elsewhere. I have one day per week off, and they fill fast with obligations. I am grossly overdue for a trim, and now have to figure out another option since she felt it her right to waste my time to be petty.
