I liked this place and had been coming pretty consistently. The tanning itself is good... not A+, but convenient and good enough that I was happy to keep returning. Unfortunately, today changed that. I made a last-minute appointment and called ahead to let them know I'd be a little late. Their policy is a 10-minute grace period, and I walked into the salon literally within the final 60 seconds of that window. They just kept repeating, "Well, it was 10 minutes, so we have to push your appointment," even though I was standing there within the stated grace period. At a certain point, I realized the conversation was going nowhere, so I stopped arguing and simply said I wouldn't be coming back--which is unfortunate, because I had been a consistent customer. And the cherry on top: they still charged me the cancellation fee. I completely understand having policies. I just think if your policy is 10 minutes, being there within those 10 minutes should count. read more

I got the ultimate spray tan for Prom. I have gotten spray tans before so I understand the do's and do nots. Yet this time I had to do a lot of the work myself. The check in is easy, but having to blow myself dry was a little weird for what they are charging. Also the bottom of my feet are orange and my hands are only half way done. compared to other places i've been for cheaper this place left me unsatisfied for the amount i paid. the salon was so clean and cute! they offer a number of different services! i got a spray tan, it was easy and they provided anything you may need to keep it fresh (i wore the tightest leggings i had on accident, they had disposable boxers i could wear home). the tan was not orangey and looked natural, although i feel that it could've been a little darker/more noticeable. i would definitely recommend and try again! read more

This was my first spray tan since moving back to west Michigan! Very happy with my results and Madi did a great job! The two girls working were so friendly, also informative and the facility was very clean and tidy. Very welcoming atmosphere. So far, I love my tan! Very even application and no issues. Also love that they have a 48 hour touch up policy where if something happens, they'll fix it! I had booked an appointment with Maddy 4/19 for my visit yesterday. When i got there I found out that Maddy was no longer there, and I had an appointment with some random person that I knew nothing about. I am very unhappy that I was not notified and given any type of options for who would be using chemicals right by my eyeball. I said as much to the girl checking me in, and got a response of, yeah, I don't know what happened, but if something happens, let us know and we can fix it. Not really making me feel really secure about my appointment. Also, I was told that this person was very experienced, Looking at the online info, and the time allowed for her to do the appointment, it appears that she is the least experienced person on the staff There was no offer of a discount, I feel it was very unprofessional on the part of the management and a pretty underhanded way to keep my business. read more

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS. 2 days ago I got eyelash extensions at Grand City Tanning. The service was fine and the esthetician was nice. I tipped her well and went home with my beautiful lashes. After 36hrs with the lashes on, about half came off. I contacted the woman who did my lashes, and she offered me an appointment for a fill, which at this point was all I needed. I was wary, as I expressed to her, because I had just paid $200 for lashes that were already half gone, and she assured me I could have the fill for free. I agreed and went to bed. In the morning, ALL OF MY LASHES WERE GONE. At this point a fill would not have even worked, I would have had to get a whole new set of lashes. So, I called, said I wasn't interested, and expressed that if my lashes were too short and thin to do the extensions, I wish they would have told me that instead of just taking my $200 for nothing. I wrote a 2/5 review on Yelp about my experience and suggested people go elsewhere. Lauren, the business owner, contacted me, apparently before she saw the review, and assured me they "know the science" behind what they were doing, and offered me some strategies for things to purchase from them to enhance my lashes, and offered me a refund. We ended it on me growing my lashes more and then coming back in to try again. At the time that she called I was in an appointment but spoke with her anyway. I was, initially, impressed with the call, and thought I should take down the review because they were willing to refund the $200 and explained that there could have been other circumstances at play. Great. I don't know anything about eyelashes, maybe we can figure this thing out. I tuned off my phone. After leaving the meeting and turning my phone back on to delete the reviews, I noticed I had a voicemail from the salon. After listening to it I was FLOORED. She angrily told me I was "incredibly rude" for leaving my 2-Star review, REVOKED THE REFUND SHE VERBALLY PROMISED, and told me that "Frankly, they weren't interested in a having me as a client." Absolutely unreal. The worst customer service I have ever received in my LIFE, from THE OWNER. Needless to say I changed this review to one star and am now telling you this story. Prepare to be disrespected and have $$ stolen from you and if you go public with your concerns, and never believe Lauren's verbal agreements for a refund!! read more

Grand City Tanning is the perfect place to get lash extensions! This summer I finally decided I wanted to get my lashes done and started doing some research. After finding their (super cute) Instagram, I decided to make an appointment with Kelsey. When I first arrived, I was pleased to see the cute and trendy decor. Kelsey and I sat down to discuss what type of look I wanted, the process, and any questions that I had. Though the first appointment was 3 hours, it went by super fast! She offered me wireless headphones to pair with my phone and a blanket for if I got cold. After the appointment, Kelsey went over the after care instructions and gave me her card for any questions/concerns. I was so satisfied with the final result and have been routinely going back for lash fills. Kelsey is very friendly, knowledgeable, and amazing at what she does! Highly recommend! read more

I will not reccomend Grand City Tanning to anyone. I have had 3 spray tans from them. The first 2 were great. The 3rd. was a huge disappointment. I prepared for my tan like I always have. I was talked into a better 50.00 plus tan and was VERY disappointed. I had to tell my friends that I had a spray tan. I kindly addressed this when I returned home from vacation and was told it had to be my fault and it was obvious to them I didn't prep correctly. Remember I had 2 previous spray tans there with no problem. They refused to compensate me in any way. Do yourself a favor and GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! read more

Grand City Tanning is one of the best tanning salons I've found so far. The color stays on pretty well if you keep up with after care and always comes out looking even and beautiful! The ladies at GCT are friendly and really try to get to know their costumers on a personal level which I love. I wasn't sure what to expect from a spray tanning salon but was pleasantly surprised by how clean and chic the place was. It was my first spray tan so I was a little nervous but the stylist made me feel very comfortable and was extremely knowledgeable on preparation and aftercare. I absolutely loved my tan and have been getting them regularly ever since. I have also met all of the staff and they are such a fun, down to earth group of girls that all do such a great job. I booked an appointment online at 7 AM for the same evening, but realized immediately I couldn't make it. Unable to figure out how to cancel online I had to wait until they opened to call and cancel. I was informed I would only be partially refunded due to their cancellation policy. After trying to make the person on the phone understand how ludicrous it would be to punish me, as I was trying to immediately cancel an appointment, she informed me that she would make an exception for me "this one time" with showing any acknowledgment of the particular situation. It is not as if I blocked anyone else from making an appointment for any significant period of time. There will not be another time for me. read more
