My uncle came in from California looking for a used car to use while he was here for a while. He purchased a used car from this place and after ONE week the car broke down. My Uncle brought it to another mechanic who said the car is not fixable. The damage is from the car being in a flood and now DJPete's won't do a thing about it. It is sad when a company sells a car that is damaged and won't refund the money or make an attempt to repair it. It's sad when businesses take advantage of the elderly!!! This is the worst auto service I've been too in my life. I live in Wisconsin an was in town due to my eldest son being diagnosed with terminal cancer he's battling for the 3rd time. My vehicle broke down. I had called around to several different places an seen this one! It seemed as though it was a good reasonable service! Today I was informed by the owner Dan who just looked at my vehicle, ism being charged 350$ for nothing!! This man sounded soo sincere like he was a good decent person! I have never in my life been charged a ridiculous amount of money for a professional to just look at my car, not know what's wro g with it an wants to charge me more money for looking at it some more. Tells me "your up to 350$? For what? He didn't fix a darn thing on my vehicle an still doesn't know what's wrong with it! I cannot beleive how unprofessional that is. If a mechanic is going to charge you 350$ wouldn't ypu expect something out of it? My son us dying an I'm poor this this grimmy owner just hustled a poor woman in need. Thank you Dan for taking advantage of a poor woman with a dying son. Thank you Dan for not fixing anything on my vehicle but charging me 350$ for just looking at it! Thanks for nothing! Wish We could give negative stars. The guy is a crook. ​Found reviews and tried. He said car was a junker that he couldn't fix for more than car was worth. Toyota Prius. Offered $500 to take it off our hands. Mother and daughter in. I knew better. We limped it home. Gave it more care to see if we could keep it a few weeks just to sell it for worth. Kept going. New mechanic just fixed it with basic but necessary fixes. Runs like a charm. DJ Pete's Auto is a scam. Tried to con us out of many thousands of dollars. Is that because we are just girls? Owners are super cordial and nice. However they need to hire more help! I always see them working super late... and when I come in, am always waiting to be helped at the front desk cause there is only one person working (person working on cats is also the front desk person) from what I can tell! Last time we got our car fixed, it took much longer than anticipated. And we needed the car to leave town--- luckily we told them this and they finished at 830pm on a Saturday night! (Impressive!) My family and I came in to town to shop at the mall of America. When we got to our van the next morning we saw antifreeze all over the ground. We called around in a semi-panic hoping that we can get the car repaired since we were supposed to be leaving the next day. DJ Pete's was the only place that was open that Friday and Saturday. When I called I explain our situation, and even though he was not open at that time, he took our car in for repairs. He worked until late in the night to diagnose the problem. One of the antifreeze caps was not holding pressure which is what made the antifreeze leak all over the ground. He was meticulous with his testing to make sure that the new cap did indeed hold pressure so that we could travel home safely. We got a vehicle back the next morning. His pricing was fair and well worth it. You are so fortunate to find someone who cannot only take us in, but also not take advantage of our dire situation. I'd recommend DJ Pete's auto repair to anyone. I wish we weren't so far away from Bloomington otherwise we would surely continue to take our vehicle to him for any future repairs. read more

I had been referred here from a friend awhile ago, and I think at the time got an oil change, but now a couple of years later I went back for a brake replacement and had another good experience. These guys got me in at the last minute and had my brakes changed within a couple of hours for less than the estimated cost!! And I had shopped around on estimates and they were already the lowest! Service is great in person and on the phone, very friendly staff. I should note that I had originally came here for a brake replacement a few months ago after my dealership told me I needed too. The guy at DJ Pete's looked over my brakes for me and told me they still had some life on them yet so just to hold off (I was also needing tires at that point and could only afford to do one). That was super awesome that he was up front and honest with me and saved me some money for the holidays! We took our car here upon a recommendation after receiving poor service time after time from our prior mechanic. We were overly impressed with the service, communication and overall sense that the work was done professionally and honestly. They definitely know cars and will not settle when trying to diagnose an issue. My gut is that this is an art and too many mechanic shops rely on computers to tell them what is wrong. If you want fair rates, honesty, trust that Work was completed and they looked beyond the primary symptom and a sense that your mechanic has your interests in mind and loves what they do, go here. Brought vehicle in to have new caliper. The dealership quoted me $350. Dj Petes charged me $500. I felt I got ripped off and taken advantaged of. Also, when I picked up my vehicle it smelled like smoke from cigarettes. Nasty! I will say that the two brothers that own the place were nice and cordial but please don't rip off unsuspecting customers. Make sure you get a quote in writing if you go here.
