    Bitoque

This was our first time here! It was my birthday, so it was my choice and of course I'm going to choose Portuguese food!! We went on a Wednesday night at 7 PM so there wasn't a lot of people there, so that was good! There was one waiter. I got what I always get when I go out to eat for Portuguese food and that is the Bitoque, which is steak, french fries, rice, and a fried egg, and it was so delicious. The steak was tender cooked to perfection. my husband got shrimp, rice, and french fries and tea. Enjoyed it and my son got carne alentejana which is pork with potatoes little necks and he loved it! The food was delicious and I will be back!

I'm almost hesitant to write this review because I want to keep this wonderful spot to myself. But alas I cannot stop singing their praises and talking about how amazing this restaurant is. It is hands down our favorite Portuguese restaurant in the area. In fact, we turned our Lisbon born friend onto this place and it is now one of his favorite spots as well! I first discovered this family run business at the Day of Portugal festival in downtown Providence a few years ago and at the time they were running a food truck. Of all the food options at the festival we chose them for one reason. . . they had pica pau on the menu! Pica pau is my favorite Portuguese dish and I have yet to find another place nearby that serves this. Seriously, if you know of another please let me know because I have researched many menus looking for this. So fast forward a few years when I was really craving pica pau I discovered they had opened a restaurant and off I went to give it a try. The owner and his staff are so friendly and welcoming. The restaurant isn't very large but it's never empty, hence why I don't want the word to get out too much so I can't snag a table. There are always plenty of Portuguese families there which is another good sign that the food is legit. We always start with some sangria or a Super Bock, some bread and olives, and sometimes we get the pica pau (mixed grilled meats, chourico, pickled veggies, in a yummy broth) as an appetizer. But they also serve it as a dinner with rice and french fries! That's my go to. You'll want to keep some bread to soak up all that delicious both too! Everything we've had here has been delicious. The prices are very reasonable for the quality and the quantity you get. We always leave stuffed. Oh but you're going to want to try and save room for their desserts and an espresso at the end. This place does not disappoint!

Little necks, rolls, olives and lemonade.

Very good. Will return with friends. Service was good. Little necks in a mustard broth. Finished the meal before I took this shot.

Bifana sandwich and a whole grilled rotisserie chicken with fries and rice!

I've recently moved to the area and have been missing frango do churrasco (New Bedford and Fall River staple) and let me say this place has satisfied my needs. Super juicy and tender grilled rotisserie chicken and hand cut fries and heaven. The sandwiches are also great. I will be working my way through the menu with every visit. As I'm new to the area I'm not sure on how popular they are but it seems that they had a food truck before this brick and mortar. It's a scary time for the food industry and I've been getting takeout whenever I can to keep these great places open.

Entrance will put you right into the dining room which was setup for dinner service I assume. But the dining room was empty, so I strolled past the the dining room towards the rear which was their small lounge area. I was then greeted by the chef/owner and I asked If lunch was being served since it was 12:15 He answered yes and asked if I wanted to sit in the dining room. I really didn't want to disturb the settings for just myself so I opted to sit at a high top in the lounge. So I was offered 2 specials which consisted of a sirloin steak or a fish filet. I opted for the steak and I asked for a menu also Just to see the offerings (I posted them) So talking to the customers at another table they were very nice to offer dining recommendations on future visits. They're regulars as 1 might have guessed. My steak was pan seared and topped with a garlic sauce and a fried egg along with rice and fresh fried potatoes. Steak was cooked to medium as I requested It was a 6 to 8oz portion tender for the most part and I found the garlic sauce a bit salty. May try to come back to check out their buffet on weekends. Although I asked the regulars on the buffet situation and he referred me to another place for some reason.

The restaurant itself has plenty of parking (and plenty of entrances). We went on a Tuesday night and had no wait for a booth. We were then sat and offered some complimentary bread and oil. I liked the bread- it was nice and crispy but not break your teeth hard. The oil was a little bland but free is for me. Our waiter was fine- not the most attentive but he got the job done. I ordered the chicken Rossini and my significant other had the chicken genovese. I really liked the Rossini. The price was fair for the amount of food you were given and the white wine sauce was very flavorful. I'd recommend this dish. What I wouldn't recommend is my partner's genovese. The dish had what looked like a quarter of a cup of oil at the bottom. I know it's pesto but no one realistically wants that much oil. Overall, did La Familia blow me away? No. But id consider giving it another shot at some point down the line.

Food: I wish the oil for the bread didn't just tasted like olive oil. my pesto pasta had ENTIRELY too much oil, pictured in review, like literally drowning in it. Shrimp special was good. Mocktail was one note, but I like that they offer it. Did not get dessert. I would go back and try something else on the menu.

A friend and I came in and put our names on the waitlist, waited for about 45 minutes at a bar down the street, and then had some of the most fulfilling tapas ever! You can really taste the family influence and authenticity behind every dish -- it feels like home, but with a fun twist. The Prego no Pão is one of my favorites -- perfectly seasoned steak on soft bread with that classic Portuguese comfort, but elevated in a way that keeps me coming back. We also can't get enough of the seafood dishes -- especially the paella and grilled octopus -- and the chouriço always brings that familiar Portuguese flavor I grew up with. The small plates are perfect for sharing, and trying different things each time has been so much fun. Plus, the touches of Mexican flavor throughout the menu just make my heart happy. The cocktails are always a hit -- fresh, flavorful, and so well-balanced. On top of all that, the décor is beautiful, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the touches of their family history all over make it so charming. Everything from the food to the drinks to the overall vibe is just excellent. Great addition to the city and one of our favorite spots I will add I have also gone with a baby, and while it's not stroller friendly they staff were very kind and patient with a baby learning to eat and making a little bit of a mess
