I found La Familia on a local newspaper and wanted to give it a try. Tonight was the night and we both agreed that it was pretty good but not somewhere I'd rush back to. The restaurant itself has plenty of parking (and plenty of entrances). We went on a Tuesday night and had no wait for a booth. We were then sat and offered some complimentary bread and oil. I liked the bread- it was nice and crispy but not break your teeth hard. The oil was a little bland but free is for me. Our waiter was fine- not the most attentive but he got the job done. I ordered the chicken Rossini and my significant other had the chicken genovese. I really liked the Rossini. The price was fair for the amount of food you were given and the white wine sauce was very flavorful. I'd recommend this dish. What I wouldn't recommend is my partner's genovese. The dish had what looked like a quarter of a cup of oil at the bottom. I know it's pesto but no one realistically wants that much oil. Overall, did La Familia blow me away? No. But id consider giving it another shot at some point down the line. read more

1st time here. It's beautiful inside. They have their own parking lot. Seating is very size friendly, and it accommodates large groups well. They also have a wheelchair ramp, so it's accessible. Service was good. Food: I wish the oil for the bread didn't just tasted like olive oil. my pesto pasta had ENTIRELY too much oil, pictured in review, like literally drowning in it. Shrimp special was good. Mocktail was one note, but I like that they offer it. Did not get dessert. I would go back and try something else on the menu. read more

My family and I recently enjoyed another fantastic meal at La Familia. I don't live in the area but every time I come home to visit we end up here at least once. The most recent visit was on a Tuesday evening and it wasn't busy at all. We had made a reservation on the safe side but honestly didn't need one. Service was great. Our server was friendly and prompt. The food came out very quickly. For food we started with the Portuguese Calamari and the Toasted Raviolis (seasonal special). For entrees the group ordered the Veal Saltimbocca, Chicken Saltimbocca, Chicken Frances, and the Chicken Florentine. All the food was good - no complaints around the table. Portions are a really good size as well. We all took leftovers home; you definitely won't leave hungry. Definitely recommend this place and looking forward to our next visit. read more

Went there for a small group meeting with dinner. They set up a buffet and all of the items including the buffet were very good.

Consistent kind service, consistent quality of food. Food is fine, better than spumonis in Pawtucket quality wise but almost double the price. It's a good local place but I wouldn't travel to come here. read more

The restaurant was very clean and the staff was very pleasant. My dish was a combination of veal and eggplant but there was only a thin piece of eggplant on top, I really would have enjoyed more added to the dish. The bread was delicious as well as the fried ice cream. read more

Amazing place! Went on Tuesday with my husband. Had an awesome server, I think her name was Natalie. I got the penne alle vodka which was delicious. My husband got a burger which he was happy with. Will never go back. Admittedly,we showed up at 8:50pm on a Saturday for a quick bite and a couple drinks at the bar. Bartender said kitchen is closed, they close at 9pm. We pointed out it wasnt 9pm, could she ask. She came back and said yes they will serve you. We ordered quickly. She forgot to order one of my husband's items. Our onion soup was cold, we didn't mention it, due to the time. While eating she turned all the tvs off in the bar and left us in silence. The people with us ordered espresso martinis. They asked for the shaker ice on side...met with a heavy sigh and attitude before giving it over. All bartenders know that you always give the ice, that's standard. We had a large gathering most of the food I observed was apparently good. However I ordered Bolognese. Frankly It was awful. I am a cook and love to make Bolognese. This dish was like eating Bowlasoup. pasta far too cooked. Made it like soft and soupy. The sauce was watery and it seemed like just hamburger, although I could be wrong. I bought a gift card for my husband for Christmas and thought we'd try it today. Glad we did! Cute, cozy atmosphere, prompt attention and service. Nice selection of menu items for lunch (and it was busier than I anticipated for 12:34 on a Saturday afternoon). My husband had a veal Parm sandwich (which came with fries) and I had the antipasto. He really liked his sandwich... portion size was just right. The antipasto was presented nicely; not overloaded with lettuce that's for sure. There was a nice selection of meats (including proscuitto!), artichokes, roasted red peppers, mozzarella, provolone and drizzled with a balsamic dressing and served with toast points. I couldn't quite finish. Nice wine selection . I opted for the Malbec-$8.00 for a generous pour. We will definitely be back to try their dinner selections. read more

Our first time here at this very cozy, family restaurant proved to be satisfying with respect to a pleasant experience, very good service and tasty food. La Familia offers a great menu variety with bountiful portions and a pleasing presentation. We were greeted with smiling individuals at the dining room entrance and an informative, prompt and pleasing server, Meghan. Our appetizer, the La Familia salad, was fantastic, baby spinach with dried cranberries, sliced almonds, green apples, red onions & crumbled blue cheese in a homemade vinaigrette dressing. It was certainly a good size salad for us to share. My entree, Chicken Sorrentino, was huge and excellent. The chicken was sautéed in a mushroom white wine, a basil light marinara, topped with eggplant, prosciutto and mozzarella and served over angel hair pasta. My dining partner had the lightly breaded, pan fried and then baked veal parmesan with homemade marinara sauce, mozzarella cheese. and penne pasta. Once again, the portion was generous and tasty. My friend thought we could get pizza here. FYI you cannot get pizza at this restaurant. We had an eggplant Parmesan and a chicken & Kale ravioli dinner. The eggplant Parmesan was terrific. They give you a lot of meal for the money. (Salads are ala cart by the way.) The kale ravioli dinner was not quite as plentiful as the eggplant Parmesan dinner, however it was a good tasty entrée. We sat at the bar. The service was a bit spotty but not enough to affect the overall score of this place. The disadvantage of sitting at the bar is getting extra little items like water, salt and pepper and grated cheese. All these had to be flagged down for. We have been here a few times and had takeout on a few occasions as well. We have always had a great meal with healthy portions! Prices are good for the quality and quantity. Staff is always friendly and attentive. The restaurant is clean and well appointed. They do have a few unique items on the menu too as well as some great specials. Oh they also have a great drink menu, everything from mixed cocktails, wine, beer, and even a good selection for the kids. Had dinner with a good friend there. We had never been there. Atmosphere was welcoming and the service was excellent. The food was served promptly and everything was extremely tasty. Thy did forget one thing that we ordered, but they ended up giving us free desert to make up for the oversight. Very responsive. It was a little pricey, but what isn't these days right ? Had fettuccini bolognese and it was to die for. Very rich and tasty and would recommend it to anyone. Loaded with beef, veal and sausage it was a most delicious dish. Will definitely try the bolognese again. Other visits I've had chicken marsala, and francese also very good, as was the shrimp fra diavlo. Service by Claire was top notch as well. It is very local to my house so I am glad it is good! Pro's: beyond Italian food I have had some really good Portuguese food here as well (the Portuguese steak was really good). The Italian food is great, I have had Chicken Parm and Fettuccine Chicken Alfredo. Both of them are really good and have generous potions. They can spin a good cocktail here, always a plus. I ordered the Chicken Marsala tonight. I don't know if there is a new chef or maybe the chef was having an off night. Whatever technique chefs use to brown the chicken and make it flavorful wasn't done right. The Marsala Wine sauce was thick like gelatin on the pasta and the chicken plain. I had to throw the meal out and make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for dinner. I gave 2 stars instead of one because our other meal was decent. read more

The calamari was super good. Potato skins were not mine but they were okay. I had really high hopes for their bolognese, but it was a major let down. I feel as though it lacked flavor. Service was okay. We got sat next to another couple. With covid going on, I would have thought they would have sat us farther especially since there were only two other groups of guests in there... Their seating is horrible. Every move the other people took was felt in my back. It felt like someone was elbowing me for an hour. Overall, just a mediocre restaurant. I will not be back. I came across La Familia Restaurant scrolling through Yelp. We tried to go here 2 other times, but first there were no parking spots available, and the second time there were no reservations available; both times were a Saturday night. We tried again on a Saturday, going early and calling early for the reservation. It worked! And boy we're we in for a great surprise! We both had a Mistletoe Sangria, which was very light and made with Moscato wine. Our meals were on the regular menu, although Rayna, our waitress, read us the specials. I went with jumbo shrimp Genovese; it was a menu item I saw in a review. Without a doubt, it was delicious! My husband had Fettuccine Bolognese, which he said was excellent. The bread they served with dinner was also delicious and crusty. It came with flavored olive oil. I frequently dine at La Familia in Cumberland, typically at the bar. The food and service have always been good, that is, up until last night. I ordered the Chicken Saltimbocca. The menu describes it as "topped with prosciutto, sage and fresh mozzarella." The chicken was not topped with prosciutto and mozzarella, and I'm not sure about sage. The chicken was good, just not as advertised. The bar was busy, so I waited for an appropriate time to get the bar server's attention. I commented that the chicken didn't have any prosciutto (not to mention mozzarella). The server opined that the prosciutto is in the dish, it's just sliced very thin. This excuse was an insult to my intelligence. And, by the way, I'm not naive nor blind. The server made no attempt to make this right. So, buyer beware. Needless to say, I won't be dining at La Familia any time soon. read more

There was an odd (not good) smell when first entering the bar area. Couldn't put my finger on it, but we sat anyway. The fresh bread was really good. The luncheon fish & chips was a disappointment-very small piece of "end" fish. French fries were good & the pomegranate martini was delish. They need more authentic Portuguese food on the menu. read more
