It is a unassuming place with a very friendly environment inside. You can get a full or a 1/2 tenderloin sandwich. We were already advised to get the 1/2 and we are glad we did. This was the best tenderloin sandwich we have found. I am used to the pork tenderloin itself being relatively thin. This was almost twice the thickness of most sandwiches. However, it was very tender and juicy. We got some fries with it. The 1/2 sandwich was just under $10 They also have a pretty extensive menu, Great place, great food and very reasonably priced. From the outside, Long Barbecue Company looks exactly how you'd expect an old school KC BBQ joint to look. Inside, it's very charming. It just feels like a small town restaurant. It's clear that all the servers are local high school and college students. But the service and attentiveness could not be better! They have three sauces - a regular, a spicy, and a fry sauce. All are runny and all have good flavor. I don't consider the spicy to be that hot at all. It was my favorite of the three sauces. I did try almost everything. The pork ribs and beef burnt ends (my usual favorites) were just ok. Both were incredibly lean cuts and served dry style. The brisket, Turkey, and jalapeño sausage were all good. The sausage is clearly house made and has a nice flavor. They brag on their brisket which is lovely and would be nice on a sandwich. The pulled pork is exceptional. Some of the better pulled pork in town. Great flavor. Right moisture. Good smoky flavor. Just wonderful. As for the sides, the beans were really good and has nice chunks of brisket throughout. The slaw is wonderful. Fresh, crunchy, and would be great on a sandwich (maybe the pulled pork and slaw?). The white cheddar Mac is thick, cheesy. And everything you want a Mac to be. The Hot Mess Fries were amazing! Covered with their chopped meat (a signature mix of ham bits, brisket bits, and pulled pork scraps) and yellow cheese sauce. This side is a meal in itself. Personally, I'd recommend the chopped meat sandwich or pulled pork and slaw sandwich with a side of white cheddar Mac. Of course, the Hot Mess Fries are a great choice as well. This is a solid example of KC barbeque that has their own signature items they do well. They get an entire extra star for the wonderful service! Would always stop here when in Pleasant Hill.
