Home cooking! Nothing is frozen before it's cooked. Salad dressings are homemade! Nothing beats their homemade tea.

1/2 Breaded Pork Tenderloin sandwich with half order of fries. Nice and fresh.

We visited the Harrisonville MO Applebee's on two days in May…read more On 05-18 about 3:30 pm we had an excellent server Steve. I had the All You Can Eat Ribs/Shrimp/Chicken ($15.99) which were plentiful, tasty, and Steve was very attentive to the orders and re-orders. The honey BBQ sauce on the ribs was slathered on well so plenty to enjoy. The chicken was covered with Buffalo sauce and had plenty of sauce and a good flavor. The meal comes with unlimited fries as well as a small cup of cole slaw. The cole slaw was good as expected, the fries were Applebee's fries. My wife got the Lemon Parmesan Chicken ($14.99). It was tasty and well cooked and enjoyable. The meal came with steamed broccoli and was good. On 05-25 about 12:00 pm we had server Stacy. I again had the All You Can Eat Ribs/Shrimp/Chicken ($15.99) and the ribs were again well covered in sauce and tasted well. The shrimp was also good. The chicken this time barely had any sauce on half of them, and they were very hard and well overcooked, almost inedible, difficult to even cut with the knife. She was a bit perturbed when refills were requested but Steve happened to come by and say hello and refills did not seem to be a problem after that for some reason. I asked if I could have my cole slaw and the server went to the kitchen and returned with it, no comment of any type. My wife originally ordered the Quesadilla Burger ($15.79) as the picture of it looked very good. However, when it came out, it looked nothing like the photo and my wife definitely looked disappointed. She said it looked terrible (it did) and was smaller than a meal for a child (it was). The picture shows the regular Applebee's burger (1/4 lb?) but the burger on this was smaller than the burger on a fast food child sandwich (less than 3" diameter and less than 1/8" tall). Yes, I measured it. It also looked overcooked beyond being edible and my wife liked things well done, but this appeared to be well done twice. We asked the server about it as my wife said she would not eat it, the server said tat is how they make them here. My wife showed her the picture on the menu and the server said, yes, they do not make them that way here. Hmm. So, my wife ordered the Classic Cheeseburger ($13.49). When it came it looked better than the previously ordered item though it did not have the lettuce or tomato on it even though the menu says it comes with those. It had one slice of a pickle that came from the end of the pickle (about 1/2" diameter). My wife had a terrible day at Applebee's this day and does not want to return though we do have a few gift cards so we may try another Applebee's or request Steve upon our return. We left Applebee's and went around thew corner to Whataburger where she got a double cheeseburger that came with 5 slices of tomatoes, 5 pickles, grilled onions, and lots of lettuce, for two-thirds of the cost. Our experience in the two trips seemed to partially be impacted by the server you get. Some of it can also be how the actual meal delivered to the table differs from what is sown on the menu.  We had one pretty good experience and a second not very good experience.

04/2023 The Apple barrel restaurant…read moreLocated inside Sapp Brothers travel plaza staffed by them but run as its own entity. Somewhere to like travel centers of America and Petro where they still have some country prides and iron skillets this is basically Sapp Brothers restaurants and some of their plazas still that have not closed up through the years in our now post covid world. As you come in through the travel plaza past Dunkin' Donuts from the car area or through the truck area you will see a separate entrance and it's a nice size Cafe. Breakfast is served all day long until they close currently hours are 7 days a week from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. excluding major holidays. Some people on other review sites say it's a little high on price it's kind of competitive nowadays a lot of things are a little bit higher but one thing I can definitely say is a quality you get what you pay for and boy was I impressed. I came and sat down I was greeted immediately I ordered up some cawfee splash of milk on the side for it like I like to add with my Splenda. they were almost ready to change shifts but not quite I got a menu she gave me plenty of time and I decided to go with the hamburger steak one of my favorites two eggs over medium hash browns not real crunchy and sourdough toast. I looked at the menu and saw they still have a great dinner selection too apparently they're burnt ends are a big big favorite I'll have to come back and put the feed bag on for those eventually. Most of the Sapp Brothers in my travels don't have restaurants there's only a couple I hit anymore where is there further out west they still have many with restaurants in them but I don't run that far west anymore hell I don't even think I've been to Omaha Nebraska and more than 5 years or west of there. My food came out I was very impressed it wasn't just a frozen hamburger patty this was a hand padded because it was lopsided and uneven which shows you oh yeah that's how you do it the right way you handpad it smash It Down came out fantastic. Put a splash A1 on there along with the eggs over medium just like I like them sourdough toast was good the hash browns that they were hash browns LOL. Other than that I was highly impressed and definitely decided to create the page because I noticed on the Google machine they have a review for the Apple barrel on its own too so I decided to take a shot and make one up because it's definitely worth it. This location is a very high traffic area because it sits at the junction coming south of Kansas City where you split off on State route 7 to go to words the gateway to the Ozarks from there down into Springfield lot of traffic comes through here. In the early weekend hours you may have to wait a bit for a seat cuz it does tend to line up a little bit I came in after the crowds it was a good time for me for brunch. Definitely will return when I'm in the Kansas City South area

This is not OK for a server to act like this.

That burger, though...it's veen over 24 hours and I'm still drooling a little. Our server hardly spoke to us, which was odd as the music was quiet and they weren't busy. Maybe because we ordered a meal to share and no beer? It's just what we do, so we can have dessert. Haha! But we tipped 50%,because that is also what we do. Atmosphere as expected for a bar, dark and not overly cheerful...but that burger! I'd go again just to taste it one more time.

It has a small town feel but definitely where the locals go which is cool to see. The food quantity was large and piping fresh and hot while the beer was ice cold (colder than most places which is top notch!). You can tell they do a good job with the beer lines because it taste great. Our waitress was really nice and helpful as well! They have lots of different choices of fries and I got to try a little bit of all of them from my order and my friends orders and it's hard to choose!! We had burgers and fried pork tenderloin. Everything was great. Big tv, pool table, and some other entertainment so they have it all.
