There were plenty to pick and not very crowded, so we were able to easily social distance ourselves. The small store has an assortment of honeys made by their own bee hives that they move around in different parts of the US. We so enjoyed the day and will go back in June to pick peaches.

Beware that the ground can be wet so be sure to wear shoes that you don't mind getting dirty. Everybody was so kind and my daughter was offered a popsicle after we were done picking blueberries. They also sell a variety of homemade foods. We tried the blueberry lemonade and the chocolate pound cake. The lemonade had a robust blueberry flavor and just enough lemons to give it a kick. The cake was not overly sweet but it was still very delicious. While we were on the field they played classical music which gave a nice ambience while picking blueberries. I highly recommend this place for people with kids.

But at $20 a head -- about $100 for our family of five -- the experience no longer justifies the price. In past years they gave you a paper map with checkpoints A through F to find and check off. This year there was no map and no way to track your progress. One of the six checkpoint stations had been pulled out of the ground and left overturned. The bigger problem is the ground. The surface was flooded and uneven, with ditches in places. A corn maze is a family outing -- people bring strollers. I was there with my senior-citizen mom. I'm healthy and I still had trouble keeping my footing. They need to level their walking surfaces and make the maze safe for the people who actually visit. Until they fix the navigation aids and the ground, this isn't worth $20 a person. At $20 a head, a place should deliver a premium experience. Instead, they charge $4 for water and tack on extra fees for pony rides and other activities. You're paying a premium price for a basic outing.

A fun fall date!…read more Southern Belle Farm, located in McDonough, provides hours of wholesome fun and free parking. My wife and I arrived on a warm October day to enjoy the pumpkin patch and U-pick flowers. We arrived in the afternoon, but there was plenty of selection and nothing was "picked over." I paid $16 for a quart sized plastic vase for my U-pick flowers. They sell gallon sized buckets as well. Scissors and water are provided. Be mindful of bees in the field. They won't trouble you if you don't trouble them. There is an area in the back for you to arrange the flowers; I took full advantage of this because this trip doubled as a photo shoot. There were all types of people enjoying the farm; IG girls, families, even one couple using a wagon full of pumpkins as a baby announcement. Pumpkins range from $5-$20 each depending on size and breed. A nice young man named Luke helped us corral our pumpkins and carry them to our car. I didn't know they offered that service, but we tipped well. If you run up an appetite, they have a snack bar with fritters, ice cream, and lemonade. I'll be back next fall!
