My sister & I decided to get pedicures today. We haven't had consistently good experiences at any of the salons we've been to, so we decided to just try random ones we knew of. The first place we stopped at was too busy. Then, I remembered that I'd seen DK Nail in the corner of the shopping center kitty-corner to where we were. At first, it didn't look open (despite the sign) because the windows are so dark. But as soon as we walked in, they greeted us and told us to pick colors and have a seat. There were only 2 people working there, and they already had 2 customers, so we did have to wait a while. But, we were enjoying visiting and relaxing, and I really enjoyed the massage chair. Once they were done with their other customers, they gave us their full attention. They were thorough and friendly and did a great job. I have tiny nails and I'd cut them badly, but the gentleman (I didn't catch his name) got them all straightened out. Literally just had the worst manicure of my life here. The girl kept messing up and insisted on covering it up with more coats of polish, rather than taking the polish off and re-doing it. She filed all of my nails different lengths and did not clean up the edges or bumps. It had been a while since I came to DK Nails. The girl who used to do my nails here, Helen, had moved out of State and I didn't like the other nail techs that worked there. I came in here about a week ago due to convenience only to find they have completely remodeled the space and it's under new ownership. When I walked in, there were 2 techs available to take customers. I needed a manicure and picked my color quickly. My nails were done by Andy. After sitting in his chair, I noticed the space was clean. He didn't say much, which I liked, as I watched the news. I usually take my time for mani/pedis to relax. He cut my nails as I asked and perfectly filed them. My nails were manicured and dry within 25 minutes. After a week, other than my nails growing, my nails still look good. They haven't even chipped - might I add all the house work and chemicals my hand see on a daily basis. I was impressed. I will likely be back for my manicures and pedicures considering how long it lasted and how great it looked. I highly recommend trying this place out! read more

I've only been here twice, but my experiences have been mostly good than bad. First trip here was more than a year ago. Stopped in for a pedi and a Shellac mani. The pedi was great and I must say the mani was awesome as well. ***I went a few months later to Gigi Nails in Southgate for a Shellac mani and it was horrible! Nails were peeling from air bubbles as soon as I walked out the door!*** Back to DK - so the mani and pedi on my first trip were great, so they got a second appt from me. Second trip here was the day before my wedding for a mani & pedi. When I booked the appt I told them I wanted a Sugar Skull design on a few of my nails - I even showed them pictures. They assured me they could do whatever I wanted. Well...let me just say this is a lie and a sale tactic just to get your business. I contemplated doing it myself but didn't have time for it, so felt I better leave it to professionals. I should've just got Sugar Skull nails out of my mind altogether because that's exactly what happened! Sad face. Appt was at 0900. There was no one in the place. Pedi got started right away. The guy told me one of his employees was late so he was short handed. A slow Saturday morning turned into a busy Saturday morning pretty quickly! Another lady ended up taking over my pedi so I had to explain my polish choices all over again. After she finished I had a seat at one of the tables to get my nails done. I wasn't going to go with acrylic nails initially because I despise them, but decided to so they would have more room for the Sugar Skull design. She did a great job on the acrylic nails, it was everything after that point that was not so good. She painted colored tips on 8 out of 10 nails, and it created a "bump" in the nail shape. It wasn't super obvious but I didn't like it and it was kind of annoying to me. Then when she started the sugar skull I was mildly horrified. A little kid could've done equivalent if not better work. Not an exaggeration whatsoever. I told her just to take it off and do all over color instead. It looked horrible and I didn't have time for her to make it right. It was pushing 1100, and I had to be on the road by 1115 to meet my family for lunch. Horrible! I'll go back but I'll keep it to simple things -Iike pedicures and shellac manicures. Dk Nail and Foot Care is a wonderful, clean, and welcoming establishment! My daughter and I both love the staff and environment. It's just like "family". I have never witnessed rude employees or customers being rushed out of the door. In fact, my experience has been quite the opposite. I've always been greeted with a pleasant greeting followed by them asking what could they do for me. The shop has gone through major renovations. They continue to add additional pedicure spa chairs to accommodate their growing customer base. I have never made an appointment and I never have to wait long to receive my spa services. Although, Saturday's can be a busy day; that's the same for every nail spa in the world. Saturdays tend to be very busy. Dk Nail does accept appointments if this is better for your schedule. The employees have great integrity and want everyone to be happy with the services they render. if you are ever unhappy about anything, it doesn't matter how minor, ask Vivian to correct it for you. She will be more than happy to do so, no questions asked. I remember, when the debit machine was not working. It was an issue with the internet connection. Customers were informed prior to receiving services that the owners apologized for the inconvenience, but the debit/credit card machine was not working. All customers were asked if they could pay cash as a result of the machine not working. Another option was to allow them to take dow your debit card information and they would call you when they once internet connection was repaired. From my perspective this is great customer service and them continuing to try provide services to cusotmers despite some issues beyond their control. Once again, J. D. and Lauri S. give them one more opportunity. I'm confident that your experience will be nothing like the last time you've mentioned on your posts. I would implore anyone that has ever had a bad experience to return and give them one more opportunity to provide the exemplarily customer services that I and my daughter have always been provided. read more

I recently moved to the area from Washington DC where the quality of nail salons and technicians was high. The gel manicures and spa pedicures had cuticle removal, callous removal and detailed maintenance of both the nail and surrounding skin. I have been to 4 salons around Franklin and NONE of them have a complete service. Dk is the only salon I have been to where they do it all. Gross. Filthy is more fitting actually. The man that gave me my manicure was lazy and bad. He actually just didn't care. As soon as he started I almost walked out but it was an emergency and I needed my nails painted. How this place stays open in this area is beyond me. There's a thick layer of dust on EVERYTHING. It smells. It's prices should really be $1 for anything because it's truly not worth more. I had to tip $5 because I didn't want him to mess my polish job up.... happened anyway. Left fluff on my nails and painted over it. Will NEVER go here again. New Day nails in troy is 100% my go to. Horrible experience... On 12/31/17 paid for shelac manicure, that should last at minimum 10 days. On 1/3/18 the shelac on one nails comes off, 1/4/18 two other nails fall off. I go in on 1/5/18 the redo my entire right hand but only do the thumb on my left hand. On 1/16/18 another nail from my left hand fall off. I go back in they repair the nail, but refuse to repair the other 3 nails until they fall off. I explained I dont have time to go to the nail shop everyday, and yet they still refuse to repair them. I will never go back for shelac, they do not know what they are doing. Extremely Poor customer service. read more

I've been going to this salon on and off for the last many years and have received only the most courteous and efficient service. (I'm busy so usually this means maybe about 4 times a year). I know many of girls by face though not closely as they are from Vietnam and are still working on their language skills. But they are all fabulous. Never had any problem. However, the last few times I've been I've seen a male nail artist, who is friendly till there is an issue, and then he gets nasty and loses his temper. I've seen him have some testy exchanges with customers before and yesterday it happened to me. Basically, I walked into the salon and said I wanted a mani-pedi. The manager (at least I think he is a manager) asked me to sit at a pedi booth, which I did. Since he invited me to sit, I assumed the wait would be short. Fifteen minutes later, nothing. I asked him how long? He gestured to his ill-tempered colleague and said when he was done with the customer who he was working on, he'd take me. I waited another 15 minutes and then told the manager I could no longer fit in the mani but still wanted the pedi and asked how long? He said another 15 minutes. At which point the ill-tempered guy angrily piped in and said, no, another 40 minutes and told me I would have to wait my turn as he has to finish those with appointments first. I asked why I was given no indication of how long a wait it would be when I walked in -- and they both said because I didn't ask! One thing led to another, and after some heated words exchanged, I left. They didn't bother to apologize or make up to me in any way. Just told me I was free to leave, which I did -- and obviously I'm never going back. read more

I wish there was an option to give zero stars. I tried out this place as it was one of the only places open on a Sunday. Upon walking in, I asked for a shellac manicure and a polish change on my toes. I already had shellac on my nails so the lady drilled my nails until the polish was completely off leaving me with a burning sensation and a thin nail bed. I kindly asked her to soak off what was left of the polish instead of drilling them to which she ignored and continued drilling. I got over it. As she started filing my nails I noticed that every single one was crooked. I asked her to straighten them out, her exact response "I don't see anything wrong from my view". I explained where each of my nails were crooked and she fixed them, by filing them down to the nub. I got over it. Next, I washed my hands and she was ready to apply the shellac when I noticed that there was fuzz all over my nails, I tried to take it off myself but she told me she'd fix it in the end. She painted right over the fuzz which resulted in an uneven paint job. Her solution was to paint my nails as THICK as possible to cover up the fuzz under my nails, it looks like I have 20 layers on my nails. Lastly, she got the nail polish all over my skin and made no attempts to clean it off. With all the wonderful nail salons on orchard lake rd in West Bloomfield why would anyone go to Dk nails? The salon is dirty and the employees are rude and in a hurry to push you out the door. During a recent and what would be my final visit I had to wait over 30 minutes, no one greeted me when I walked in. The staff tried not to understand me, than when it was time to check out they said I had a bad credit card so that I would pay cash! When I arrived home I checked with my credit card company no problems there so unfortunately the cash scheme wasn't going to work with me. Last but not least my husband who is a local podiatrist agreed that he has seen patients with nail problems that have gone to dk nails,so beware! I stopped in for a mani/pedi, and was talked into getting a shellac manicure. Worst decision ever. The lady didn't properly remove the excess polish from my cuticles, using only her NAIL to do this. The result was the shellac pulling away from the cuticle within two days, and the edges lifting. I have had shellac manicures from another place and it easily lasted 10 days. This one made it to day three before lifting from the nail and catching on everything. Try getting shellac polish off yourself. Not easy. I don't know why I ever go anywhere besides Diva Nails at Telegraph and Maple, they are the BEST! read more

i went to this place expecting to get really nice nails, as i should we i go to a nail salon and i came out having absolutely the WORST experience i have ever had at a salon. the hospitality was slim. flies everywhere the floor was dirty and i was just over all uncomfortable. the customer services was horrible. i asked for gel acrylics and they commented and said rude things about me and my cousins nails. we waited for so long for them to just start on ONE of us, then they separated us and made the whole experience even more uncomfortable, they just didn't talk to us and when they did it was rude and hard to understand. my cousin and i also noticed that they REAKED of smoke and they admitted to smoking cause before the guy started on our nails they went and admitted that they were to smoke a cigarette (WHILE THEY WERE ON THE JOB AND HAD CUSTOMERS WAITING AND PREVIOUSLY WAITING FOR THEM FOR A LONG TIME). i will never go back to this nail salon ever again. i would rather do my nails myself. if u were to get acrylics from this establishment, they use a substance called mma (methyl methacrylate), which technically is an illegal substance, and does have effects to your nail. please i warn you, do your research before coming here. read more

Queen for a day! My original nail tech cancelled my appointment on the day before I was to go out of town. Therefore you can imagine my frustration. Nevertheless, I used to go to DK nails before but never did I imagine I would be treated like a queen! My pedicure was completed in a clean and germ free bowl and the lady was meticulous. She made sure I was comfortable at all times while the owner's wife did a beautiful shellac manicure on my nails. They have a huge fabulous selection of shellac polish with matching regular nail polish for your toes. The people are friendly and the customer service is awesome!!!! Although the price was slightly higher than what I normally pay the customer service I received was worth every penny.
