I wanted to treat myself for a special occasion, but I did not decide to do so until the very last moment. Not quite like myself, since I am usually very pre-planned, but I went off script and wanted a last minute pedicure. I was so happy to find this place. Not only did they fit me in, they fit me in very last minute within a half an hour of calling! So took my daughter for a mother daughter mini spa day. I thought the pricing was very good, and they provided a top notch pedicure experience. It was very relaxing and well worth it. They had a lot of your typical services, so we plan on coming back. I would love to try their shellac and their nail dip in the future. Since they are in such a convenient spot for us, I would be able to do a last minute if and when spots for us come up again. I needed my nails done last minute and a few people from a Facebook page suggested I go to Lindsey at Modern Nails in Union Lake Road. She did an awesome job and very quickly. I decided to try the cats eye design and I love it! It changes color with different lighting and has a pearl like finish. I would highly recommend her to anyone needing a manicure. read more

I overlooked the fact that they had bad reviews and decided to give them a try because they were close to home. When I walked in they were unwelcoming. Fine, I can deal. The whole service was uncomfortable and awkward. During my pedicure the lady was friendly enough, but the shellac chipped almost immediately. Then we came to the dip manicure. The gentleman doing my nails was incredibly rude. Would not respond to anything I said to him, so we sat in silence. I can deal with all of this. I came here yesterday with my bridal party and left super disappointed. I'm writing this review the night before my wedding: that's how unhappy I was with this place! I made reservations for mani/pedis for 7 girls. When we all arrived (on time) we all had to wait around before we got taken back to start our pedicures one at a time. We didn't even get to sit near each other. Then once we got started the gal who worked on me completely rushed through mine. She was done with my pedi and on to my hands before other girls who were started at the same time had even put their sandals on for polish! Hardly any massage, she had to re-do one of my toes a few times, left my cuticles torn up, then one of my fingers was so sloppy my friend had to re-do it when I got home. I sat there all by myself at the dryer while everyone else was still enjoying their pedis. As the bride I was REALLY looking forward to some pampering and instead got the worst mani/pedi experience I've ever had. Sloppy, rushed... just bad! To top it off, my future MIL sat in the chair and didn't get her pedi started until I was done, and my aunt sat waiting for a mani while they took walk-ins back BEFORE HER! So disappointing! I can't say it was all bad, the pedi chairs were nice, SOME of my group got that pampering we were expecting, and all of the shellac manicures turned out nicely. I guess the experience here REALLY differs based on who does your nails. When I talked to the manager and tried to explain my disappointment having brought 7 gals in, gotten treated like walk-ins, then rushed through they just offered to re-paint my hands (which I didn't have time for anymore and completely misses the point) Then they started to get really defensive so eventually I just got defeated and left. I took my 12year old daughter to get mani/pedis while my other daughter enjoyed a birthday party at Defy. We were extremely happy with the service and the value! My pedi place of choice is the newly renovated Modern Nails. The nail technicians are very friendly and professional. Walk-ins are welcome, but I highly recommend making an appointment with Ken, he does an amazing job! They have a wide array of nail polish to choose from and did I mention you sit in the most comfortable massage chairs known to man? They literally massage from your temples down to your knees. I always ask if my toes can dry while I stay in the chair to get a few extra moments in heaven. Your typical pedicure costs $26, but if you want to get crazy - there is a deluxe option where they use hot stones and everything! This is a place that you can walk-in after a yoga class in workout clothes and feel totally comfortable. read more

Stopped in for a gel polish change and pedicure. The staff was very quiet, to an awkward level. My gel manicure is just ok. The polish doesn't have clean lines, and goes down to my cuticle. I left with some polish still on the sides of my nails. For a $30 gel polish change, I expect it to be better than that. Was frustrated that they filed my entire nail which really ruins your nails. Pedicure was fine, though no leg or foot massage which was disappointing. Chairs were nice. I'll probably look elsewhere next time. read more

Poor service, mediocre pedicure at best. Came in with a friend for mani/pedi before our cruise in 3 days. Chairs were very nice, but even the experience sitting down was lacking. No space for my purse, no space for my coat, no offer to move or find a location for them until several minutes later after I had to ask. Once I sat down, the man did a lazy job of trimming cuticles and scrubbing feet. Lackluster exfoliation and lotion application. I hesitate to call it a Massage. White lines for French manicure were passable, but no where near perfect. I asked for creamy pink behind the whites, this posed to be a problem as he didn't speak a work of English and the English speaking employee sitting beside him did not intervene to assist. Nails came out okay, nothing to brag about. I got up to move to the manicure chair. He left his stool in my way as well as my purse sitting behind his cart. Of course, he didn't offer to move my things as every other nail salon in the history of forever has done. I hit two toes on the obstacle course and in that moment decided I didn't want to deal with this place anymore. I abruptly advised that I no longer wanted the manicure and just wanted to pay for my pedicure and leave. Finally the English speaking woman stepped in and advised she would fixed the nails, but by then I just wanted to go somewhere else. They took my money and I left. No intervention or attempt to provide better service from who imagine was the manager. I drove down the road to another nail location (there are several within 2 miles) and had them start from scratch. Buyer beware, the cozy chair just isn't worth the hassle. read more

Great place. Very clean and very modern. They have awesome massage chairs and they gave me an insanely good feet and and leg massage and I didn't pay extra. They offer a ton of services and the prices are amazing. I wish the communication when you walk in the door would be slightly better but other then that the place is incredible. I've gotten a shellac manicure here before and LOVED it! but on Monday, I tried the SNS dip in powder that is available here. I did not like how thick they were or how you could see and feel the filing marks. I went in today to have them fixed, but was told that they couldn't fix my nails because that's just how the product looks, so they took the product off and put shellac polish on my nails. I was very happy with their efforts to fix my nails and make me happy until they finished "fixing" my nails. I've never been so embarrassed of my nails. The polish was all over my fingers, clumped under the tip of my nail, and way too thick in certain spots which makes my nails look oddly shaped. Now I am going to go somewhere and pay AGAIN to have my nails fixed AGAIN. So upset with how my nails look and the damage that is being done to them after all of the filing and acetone and product being put on and taken off. It's been less than 24 hours since this was done, and one of my nails is already chipped! read more

I always enjoyed going to this salon because it's clean, and have the best pedicure chairs. However, after two bad experiences I don't think I will be going back. After getting shellac it started to come off only days after I got it done and that's never happened to me anywhere else. And most recently I got a pedicure and manicure and the man painting my nails did a horrible job. He rushed through the pedicure and manicure process and my nails looked like a first grader painted them. I actually had to complain and someone else had to take the polish off and reprint them. I am not the type of person to complain or make a big deal about things but I could have painted my nails better myself. If you wish to go here make an appointment with one of the owners or ladies. This nail salon is trash. They have horrible customer service and do not understand customer needs. I have been there multiple times and have never been completely satisfied with the result. Once I had told her she was missing spots and it was very messy and the woman did not understand me. I demanded my nails redone and the owner was VERY rude about it. She did not accept my tip and was all around disrespectful and unwelcoming. This salon does not appreciate their customers nor do they value customer service. I would never recommend. read more

Two hours for a shellac manicure and regular pedicure! The massage chairs are in need of replacement (ripped and dirty) and the salon itself was pretty dirty also. My manicurist spoke very little English. She cut my nails with the cuticle cutter and then cut my cuticles and drew blood. None of my nails were filed the same shape or length. Everytime I pointed out an issue she would have to ask another employee to translate (she said she had been in our country for 18 months; plenty of time to learn some English). The shellac is lumpy, uneven and lacks the shine it should. Not sure if she was licensed (how did she pass the State board test if she can't speak English, how can she read it?). Speaking of the massage chairs ... The three male manicurists who did not have clients were all sitting in the unoccupied massage chairs with their BARE(!) feet curled up on the seat of the chair (very unsanitary). Yes, I paid $50 (plus a 15% tip) because I just wanted to get out of there and didn't have another two hours to have them redone. Never again. read more

Today I sat in the massage chair for 40 minutes and no one began my mani pedi. The water became cold, as water does after 40 minutes. There was a young man on his cell phone the entire time, ignoring me. I finally got too cold, asked for a towel to dry my feet, and left without service. As I left, another worker told me that the young man would now begin, but after watching him watch his phone for such a long time, there was no way I wanted him to touch me. Very disappointed. When I tried to contact the manager by email at their website as requested, their website "was down" ..to me, this seems a very poorly run nail salon. I have been going here at least 5 years. 1. They have great chairs - so great, I bought one for my home that includes calves & feet massage. 2. It really does depend on who does your work here. Some are skilled, listen to what you are asking, take their time, and the job is great. 3. Others are clearly interested in something else and push you through as fast as possible. 4. The wait usually isn't that long, but on occasion it can be. 5. They OFTEN try to up-sell you on something more expensive. 6. The owner herself will give inaccurate information, not sure if out of ignorance, or if she is that anxious to up-sell. 5. I have decided to try a new salon, and here is why: My daughter was getting married, a very beautiful, formal event. Being a long time customer, I was looking forward to a pedicure. And, rather than a manicure, I was going all out and asked for a one-time acrylic nail application with pink base and white tips. On my toes I asked for a deep blue with a silver tip line (rather than white as in the normal French manicure). The girl rushed through the pedicure, filed my feet for all of 1 minute, and forgot to do the tips of my toes. Then on to my fingernails. She added a clear coat on my fingernails, stating they would be shiny that way (her suggestion, not something I asked for). After my fingernails were complete (and they did look good), I mentioned that my toes were not complete. She then rushed a VERY SLOPPY line across the tips, they look awful. The topper, they charged $90 for this service. Things like this have happened before here, but this was a very special day and should have been treated as such. Like I said, I WAS a long time customer - that is the final straw and I'm looking elsewhere. I have my own massage chair now (that's even better than theirs), and that was the main draw. read more

Loved Judy! I drove all the way from Ann Arbor to have her do my lashes! She uses Novalash which are extremely sturdy and durable. She was meticulous and good. Then, I had her do my shellac and she did amazing. I was super impressed with the cleanliness of the spa. The tools, the lined pedicure bowls etc!
