I actually watched the movie first, and fell in love with it. Julia Roberts was fabulous. I then went on to read the book. I have lost count on how many times I have read the book now. I just LOVE IT. The book inspires me on all levels. It inspires me to look within, to learn, to discover, to live out of the box, to laugh, to eat, to be myself, and of course to travel. I have been very fortunate to have been able to do so much travelling already. Bali is one of my favourite places in the world. And don't get me started on Italy....: Eat, Pray, Love is a must read. It is the transparent journey of an everyday woman from a life of lack and emptiness to a life of self-discovery, self-love and purpose :).

I came upon this book by chance and I feel that it has helped me to not only grow a bit, but to understand the importance of being at peace with myself. The writing in the book was exquisite as the author literally allows you to take a walk in her shoes. Through allowing you to do this she also allows you to understand that being unbalanced (at times) is merely a necessary part of a balanced life. I loved that the author not only took the time to write her own story, but also the stories of those individuals she met along her journey, as this allows the reader to relate to various elements of the story. In sum, Eat, Pray, Love was a delight to read! (Although, it may at times cause an unnatural desire to eat)

Melissa Febos, Jillian Lauren and Nick Flynn read from their latest novels, which ranged from the freshly-published to the freshly-inked. I'm excited to re-visit this rainy-night outpost to hear some more works on cinder-blocks, and to pick up some new books for the subway home. It is cool to have a free paper that will entertain you for more than 5 minutes. It just keeps you in the know of what is going on. Ads in there also for places like Barcade, tell of upcoming events East/West beer ngiht and so on. I was actually revising and looking over that very issue again earlier today. (Jan5-18, cover had a story of 48 hours with a certain rock star). That title in itself makes it blog worthy and worth an actual look at the article which was very interesting. One guy actually talked about his waking up in the morning routines of eating cinnabons then alot of other healthy crap like squash, broccoli, beats, and kale but then use of some kinds of drugs. Ironic in that he seemed like a health nut with the food he actually consumed but used drugs and abused alcohol left and right. The bar and restaurant directory in the back makes alot of Brooklyn bars seem very appealing. I have also seen a few spots in there of places us yelp eliters got to sample at one point or another like Nita Nita and Woodwork. Thanks for the Reco's guys. Oh yeah then there is a sex with the natural redhead section on the back page, it is usually very funny stuff that explicitly involves penetration and sexual operations. Some more inappropriate than others. Overall- Yes, thank god it is free, I check out your magazine and now I need to look for the latest issue.

We have a camera outside so we can confirm that the paper was not delivered inside our fence the days it was missing. Personally I think the driver just toss the paper out his window since I saw on the camera that on a few occasions the paper was kicked under our gate. When we call the paper a angry lady usually tell us that our gate is locked (we don't have a lock mechanism on the gate) and that's why he don't deliver the paper when the truth is that he just toss it out his window. I don't understand why the paper think they do us a huge favor deliver? They pay the delivery driver and we pay the paper so nothing is free and should not be treated as a favor.

A sad commentary on our society in 2013 is that people will sit down and write a letter of…read morecomplaint. Yet few will find the time to write a letter of praise. It is with much delight that I am in the second group of people. I went to Dr. Robin Baradarian of the Brooklyn Gastroenterology & Endoscopy Center located at 2211 Emmons Avenue (near Loehmann's). My friend gave Dr. Baradarian and the facility glowing praise, but her praise was conservative and much understated. This was one of the most positive experiences I have ever had at a physician's office. The facility is very clean and neat and the staff exceptional, compassionate and efficient. I say that including the ladies at the front desk to the nurses, the medical assistants and technicians in the procedure department. I would humbly suggest that some hospitals send their supervisors in charge of both their facility and staff to Dr. Baradarian's facility and that they should set into place procedures that would emulate this office which "runs" like "a well-oiled machine", with a lot of humanity and caring added. I felt like I was the only patient the day I was there and that all revolved around me. The staff made telephone calls to me prior to the procedure and also after the procedure. This facility is outstanding and there is not ONE thing that I could say needed "fixing"! Dr. Baradarian is in a class of his own. I have NEVER met such a kind, caring doctor. He certainly brings new meaning to the word exceptional. He takes his time and is not constantly looking at his watch, to see if he is spending more time than he should with the patient (gee! his time with a patient, namely me, was not predicated on the insurance clock/check!). He discussed at length the neurological disorder that I suffer with and although this disease is quite rare, he knew about it! He explained the type of anesthesia used by the staff anesthesiologist and said it was one of the safest given my neurological disorder and list of allergies. He took time calming any fears that I might have. This man is RARE and truly exceptional. He reminds me of the physicians many authors write about, but we in 2013, rarely get to have the good fortune to meet one on a professional level, only on the pages of a book. Suffice it to say, if I were his Mother or family member, I do not believe I could have received better attention or care. It is with great pleasure that I give this physician, his facility and staff an "11"....for they are superstars! I thank them for allowing me to be treated by them and no, I am not related to the doctor or anyone on staff! It is an art to turn a "yucky" procedure into a most positive experience. This stand has the little awning to protect you from the rain. In addition to that it's fast friendly service when it's open! I've been walking by at times and it's shuttered up. It gets busy because there's lots of medical facilities nearby. If you need to visit someone in the hospital it's a good place to pick up gum or candy. I was tempted to get a lottery ticket. I decided I'm not feeling lucky!
