Some of their very UNprofessional practices: 1. Initial "contract" was never updated - no change orders provided - even when agreed to verbally 2. No Permit obtained for work done 3. No itemized list of supplies 4. Never showed up to start work for over 2 months after payment by us of 1/2 down (and remaining 1/2 was supposed to be at completion of work) 5. Never came to work until 12:30 or 1 pm on ANY day and missed MANY days without calling to let us know no one would be here 6. Asked for a HUGE "draw" on amount owed when we were never informed any "draws" may be necessary after less than half the work was done 7. Then as things (very slowly) were getting done we started getting more requests for another "draw" because they didn't have money to "pay their help" - we were told initially that they had 60 people working for them - only people that ever showed up to work were the owners son and his daughters 17 year old boyfriend. We never had an actual "crew" show up to work. We "thought" and were led to believe that the son and owner were partners because the son requested many smaller "draws". 8. Owner and Owners son got into a HUGE SHOUTING match, cussing each other out and threatening to "beat your ass" and being so loud, screaming at each other and using such foul language that I (female owner of the house) had to lock my doors in fear of what might happen 9. My husband constantly reminded them (and we have a text message from the owner stating he would be able to match our budget) of the budget, that we could NOT go over a certain amount and my husband was consistently advised "we are good, everything is fine, we'll make it work out". When the work was almost complete the son told us the end result was going to be 2000k over budget to finish the handrails at the pool deck. Husband asked if supplies had already been purchased to finish the job and he was told "NO" so husband said, "I have told you over and over that X is our budget, you agreed to it and we can not go over that" My husband had to tell them to not purchase the handrails and that he would finish the job himself. SO the job was NOT COMPLETED and my husband (who thankfully has been involved in carpentry and construction his entire life) is having to finish the job 10. OWNER communicated by text message demanding "final payment". Sorry dude, No Permit and Job Not Completed negates and breaches ANY so called "contract" and son had already indicated we were paid in full as we had already paid 1000k more than we'd budgeted for. We had no reason to believe otherwise. OWNER is Dennis Steele and company name is Belews Creek Construction. OWNER threatened to come to our house and remove the deck and "use it at my house". He screamed at us over the phone and used the most foul language I have ever heard. Of course we had him on speaker and we recorded the entire thing. We told him if he came over here the law would be called and he would be arrested for trespassing. I am not sure if we have heard the last from this crooked man but we are certainly prepared if he tries to take us to court. He will not intimidate us. This was all due to them being completely unprepared, very disorganized, very undependable with no regard for getting the work done as promised and in a reasonable time. He even told us we should have to pay "more" because "everything has gone up". This was a complete utter disaster and fiasco. On a final note, the son, Daniel Steele actually did good work (when he was here) and was pleasant to deal with. It's the dad that was the problem.

You're welcome Paul Davis.... And thank you for the threats, the holding hostage of my property, and the horrible communication of your intent that you would hold me responsible for your employee getting my home without proper documentation to do so. Then, holding me responsible for not getting that proper documentation and sending me notification of having to pay a bill that the insurance was supposed to have approved per all the text you sent me, which is the only reason I said OK. However, I'm still left in my predicament because my home is gutted, I'm still having to deal with the horrible insurance company. My choice of insurance companies is not anyone's fault but my own; however, I would rather have a place to live in a pot to pee in rather than me stuck homeless like I'm gonna be and I do fully blame this company for being in my situation. Thank God, I was able to stop their lawsuit since I was able to get WSOC TV channel 9's investigative reporter to help me in getting those funds for Paul Davis since their employees don't know how to get appropriate documentation prior to gutting someone's home, or at least my home! I will be getting my storage out of their control as soon as possible. Through this, I learned that they we're going to have me pay to have my storage returned to me, but didn't bother to let me know. After this, meeting with someone who keeps their word gains extra importance. The personable and professional Dean Flowers came out to give an estimate on water damage and possible mold. I was thrilled when I learned that the company would not only do the mitigation but the repairs as well. Making my life so much easier! Abraham Reyes was the project manager and was always timely, friendly and professional. His team was amazing, I really appreciated their workmanship, attention to detail, and that everything was left sparkling clean.
