I was a little scared because root canals have such a bad rep, but thankfully I was referred by my dentist to Dr. Gamson. I was seen promptly when I arrived and felt more relaxed in just a few minutes. Dr. Gamson is gifted - finding common interests to distract patients in a charming manner - and at the same time explaining what he is doing and what to expect. Also, it's clear he's a top notch expert when it comes to root canals. I had no pain during the procedure - just a bit of sting with the shots. The root canal immediately addressed the radiating pain. I was so relieved that an experience I expected to be horrible was not - and I enjoyed Dr. Gamson's charming chatter, which distracted me from my fears. The office staff was efficient and helped me understand the insurance coverage situation. Also, the office and treatment rooms have unique art displayed that I enjoyed learning about. Anyway, I'm going back soon as I suspect another tooth needs treatment...it's nice that I know I have no reason to worry.

Dr. Yelamanchi looked at me for 1 min, said "yes, you need a root canal, but unfortunately I don't have the time to do it now so you'll need to schedule another appointment." What a joke. That was the whole point of the appointment - to get the root canal. Does he not realize that patients have jobs and can't just take days off work for no reason? Plus - there wasn't a single patient in the office other than me - probably because of treating patients like this. I'll take by $2000 elsewhere...

Consulting doctor recommended nitrous oxide sedation for my anxiety, which the other doctor then tried to talk me out of as he is inexperienced working with patients under sedation. The office staff did not explain the costs fully and told me that part of the cost of the procedure would be "written off" which was not reflected on my statement and I am waiting to find out if this is true or if I will be billed for this portion. This office also does not e-file prescriptions.

My dentist (Dr. Babak Noohi A+) referred me to Dr. Jafari. They coordinated my procedures and care and within hours I was in Dr. Jafari's chair. It's a little ways from Capitol Hill, but I took Uber there and metro (Whiteflint station) home. Dr. Jafari and his staff are great. I was highly anxious, but the pill Dr. Noohi prescribed helped. Dr. Jafari explained exactly what he was going to do. He went over covid protocols, etc. Before I knew it I was gathering my coat and on my way home. Dr. Jafari reached out to me that evening to see how I was doing and again the next day to also tell me how the procedure went when I was a little more clear headed. I had heard horror stories of root canals - to be honest there was no discomfort at all. Dr. Jafari and his assistant have great chairside calming presence and communicated the entire time exactly what they were doing and how I was doing. Many thanks. I went in really anxious because of past dental trauma and also in pain with an infection, and I was overthinking everything, but they were all super patient with me the whole time. Dr. Jafari kept explaining what he was doing and made sure I was okay before moving forward, which helped a lot more than I expected. Christina and the rest of the team were really kind and gentle and made the whole experience feel way less scary. Overall, I'm really grateful for how they treated me. My military ID and benefits number ARE proof of insurance. I actually spoke with a customer representative from Tricare after this disastrous dental appointment and she confirmed that the only proof I needed was my ID and benefits number (some providers will also ask for the sponsor's DOB and SSN), and she said that providers can verify my insurance by calling their number or through their website. I have had Tricare for years and visited dentists all across the country, and all of them have not had a problem verifying my insurance, even when they weren't in network. I want to reiterate that I did nothing wrong and that the problem was and is Dr. Eghtesadi's ignorance about insurance and unwillingness to listen. Dr. Eghtesadi was not "direct," "to-the-point," or "candid." He was rude, patronizing, and caustic. If you've ever had someone try to "help" you or "teach" you something when really they just wanted to take their emotions out on you or assert their imagined superiority, then you will know what I mean. Dr. Eghtesadi can try to rewrite what happened all he wants, but I was there, and he was shockingly rude and angry. I'm curious what he thinks my "undertone" could be, but I'm just a person who had a bad experience and wrote a review about it. I find it interesting that a day after I posted my review, someone with a new account who had never posted any other reviews to Yelp posted a five star review for this business. There are similarly suspicious reviews on Google. I wrote in my review about this business' shady review practices, and now there are more suspicious reviews? The admin staff was so nice; Liz and Iris treated me with respect and made me feel right at ease. My consultation was done by Dr. Luke Cantamessa. He was so thorough and listened to me stating my issues. I needed the procedure to be done right away. Luckily, Dr. Kim Menhenick had an early opening. I took it and I'm so happy that I did. She was so professional and nice and made me feel so comfortable. In fact, I didn't feel anything, no pain. She talked me through the entire procedure which helped my anxiety. They used a CBCT scan to perfectly identify where and what the problem was. Then they used this amazing machine called Gentle Wave which cleans out the inside of the tooth. Not many practices have such a machine. The assistant, Sherry, was also very professional. She handled those instruments with such ease! When the procedure was over, Dr. Menhenick went over what to expect. She also said that if I had any questions to contact the office. On my way out I grabbed a granola bar and a juice box, complimentary of course! My whole experience was top rated. No one wishes for a root canal. However, if you need one this is the practice where to do it. They have three offices; DC, Bethesda, and Rockville. The other doctors on staff seem amazing as well. Top quality all around. They billed me under another dentist Dr. Weber, who was retired, which is illegal. Under my insurance they charged me over $500 more for the tooth. We contacted this office several times and they never called back. It is been 5 months and no progress. The insurance suggested us to report this office as consumer fraud matter. After reporting their FRAUD to attorney general, we finally reached the office to ask about the status, they hung up twice. The lady from billing department was absolutely nasty, so rude!!! I called back and wanted to talk to the manager. Jessica, the receptionist pretended being a manager and when I caught her in her own lies and asked her to introduce herself she refused and hung up the phone again. That was absolutely unacceptable! I called back again and asked to talk to the owner so they just started to hang up instantly. These people are fraud and thieves. The office of attorney general was notified and right now this dentist office is under investigation. Fraud department was also notified of their scammy ways to charge clients. I told her I didn't mind but asked that she check with my son first. When he came out a few minutes later, I asked if he got the fluoride. He said he did because the assistant told him, "Your father gave the green light for you to have it." That's not what I said, and it felt dishonest. I understand they may encourage fluoride treatments, and that's fine--but being misleading is not the right way to run a business or maintain trust with customers.

I originally came to Potomac dental for a filling. I was pleased with their service. A few weeks…read moreago over the weekend, I cracked a tooth. Their website says they offer emergency services and so I texted and called. Over the weekend. I never received a response other than confirming the emergency appointment that I made for that upcoming Tuesday. I had been an extreme pain all weekend, but by the time my appointment came, I was no longer in pain. I saw a different dentist than Dr. Z. He was very nice and kind and noticed that another tooth was fractured as well and removed a piece of that tooth. Both of the fractured teeth were on my lower jaw. Dr. Z came in, took some metal object and hit it against my fractured tooth and asked if that hurt. Yes, that hurt. He decided that it would be appropriate to do a partial root canal right then. I am a Medicaid patient so I never pay for dental services and if I have to, there is always a form signed prior to that lays out the procedure and how much will be charged out of pocket. He proceeded to do the procedure and put a temporary filling in. Within two hours, the temporary filling had fallen out and I was suddenly in extreme pain. Additionally, as I was walking out the door I was told I was going to have to pay $150 since they didn't do a preapproval. I was shocked and of course I paid it. I tried requesting pain medication multiple times. I have 800 mg of ibuprofen and tramadol at home which I had tried and told the doctor. They were unwilling to treat my pain. I have a high amount of anxiety related to the dentist and so I need to take a Valium before I go in. I was told that they would be unable to send both Valium and pain medicine in without being flagged by the pharmacy. This rang untrue to me since I have medical professionals in my family. I went and asked the pharmacist and she said that that was untrue as well. When I went in to have the temporary filling fixed, and hopefully have my pain treated, I mentioned to the dentist about my conversation with the pharmacist. He told me to stop arguing with him. Either he didn't know that it is appropriate when having major dental work to send in Valium and pain medicine, or he's a Doctor who has been engaging in unethical, prescribing activities and is concerned over his license. Either way, the fact that he was unwilling to treat my pain was wrong. It's been approximately 12 days since I first went in and I'm still in extreme pain. They continuously refused to treat my pain and treat me as if I'm a drug seeker while trying to gaslight me and say, since I had a root canal that there is no pain. They're also forgetting that I have a fractured tooth on the other side of my bottom jaw that they never addressed. Not only is the work shotty because this temporary filling has also fallen apart, but they are rude and unkind. I'm attaching my text messages with them and that way you can decide. In my opinion, they do mediocre work at best. I will be filing complaints with the following places: 1. Maryland Department of Health, Office of the Inspector General 2.
