Sunday, July 8, 2024 we developed a blockage of both floors and determined it was outside the house. The Roto-Rooter team that covers much of New Jersey out of a number of offices responded within hours, provided a free estimate with no travel fee (Drain Doctor and Zoom Drain wanted $150-199 just to show up, as if they can do any work without leaving their parking lot!) and after unsuccessful snaking, super knowledgeable Gabe brought in the technology (and they offer it all) in a timely fashion- they jetted the blockage partially clear, enough to use video technology to inspect the entire pipe, where we learned the pipe was cracked, destroyed by age, leaks, and roots! They brought in their amazing excavation team and Master Plumber, and even more incredible technology to replace the entire cast iron 4" pipe from crawl space to city line at curb WITHOUT digging up yard,or tearing up the steps and concrete walkway that covered the old damaged pipe! They dug both ends, cut out a small rectangle of sidewalk at curbside, and pulled a brand new, pristine High Density Polyethylene 4" pipe(which is universally felt to last 100 years-Google it- I am not lyin'b ) through the old pipe which gets busted completely out of the way during the process thanks to thousands of pounds of hydraulic pressure! This saves you an easy 10 grand in excavations! Richard 1 and Richard 2 of the Jersey team are both long term RotoRooter employees, so knowledgeable, so good at what they do, and by 2:00 Wednesday, around 48 hours from the time of my first call, the job was complete, site cleaned up completely and thoroughly, leaving two happy condo owners. I am so glad we STARTED with the pros at Roto-Rooter New Jersey, who have great people, all the technology from simply snaking uncomplicated blockages all the way up to TIMELY excavation as needed! All ready for our upstairs owners' renters who are arriving Saturday! We inspected the property following the departure of our summer rental people, refunded their deposit and called Rainbow. We went down to see the work before paying the bill submitted by Rainbow. There were 15-20 rather wide melted/burned areas in three bedrooms. When we contacted Rainbow, they tried to tell us the damage was there when they did the cleaning. We had inspected prior to their cleaning and, certainly, had they seen the damaged areas, they would have called or noted it on the bill. We would never recommend this company to anyone.

At no point did anyone from their team say they couldn't handle the job. When I got home after the first cleaning, it was obvious the rug still smelled strongly of cat urine, like nothing had been done at all. They sent another technician the next day, who admitted after a closer look that they likely couldn't clean the rug properly in the first place. That means they had multiple chances to be upfront and professional: when I booked, when they came the first time, and before they charged me. Instead, they wasted my time and money. When I asked for a refund for the rug cleaning, management refused. The manager even had the technician confirm on speakerphone that the rug wasn't properly cleaned--and still denied a full refund. They only offered $40 out of the $140 bill, then rudely said "take it or leave it," and when my husband pushed back, the manager said "then I'll give you nothing" and hung up. This company is both incompetent and rude. They clearly don't care about customer service or honesty. Do not hire Stanley Steemer unless you want your rug left dirty and your time wasted.
