I had a laptop, still covered by insurance, that the third party insurance company failed twice to actually repair, due to some confusion between its front and back office. They agreed to pay for the repairs if I could get it done locally and send them the receipt. So I found DML and I was impressed by their website and work ethic. David ordered the parts the same day we took it in and kept in communication with me from beginning to end of the repairs. The laptop repairs were completed earlier than the estimate and the work was well done. Knowing that I had to send the receipt to the insurance company for reimbursement, David provide both a paper and online receipt. We had a little emergency where a project was due and the external hard drive malfunctioned. I called and asked the question they most likely hear frequently, "Is there any way you can expedite this?" I was told if I could have the drive there in 30 minutes and they would start on the data extraction. They got it a little before 4pm. Confirmed that it wasn't any good. My daughter bought a new hard drive and dropped it off. I received notice the next morning it was ready to be picked up and I had it at 10:30am. I was very pleased with the service. I was also impressed in the store as a customer said they would get a part off of eBay and the technician told him exactly what part he would need. I was dazzled a little more when I received a text the next morning checking to see that the files I needed were on the drive and able to be worked with. I had water damage and sent my laptop back to the maker and they wanted to charge me $800 to fix it. That was more than the laptop cost! I then took it to DML and they fixed it for a fraction of that. I also liked that they gave me different options from fixing the most glaringly obvious thing wrong to a couple of other issues they spotted from the water damage. This has been such a stressful experience and huge disappointment that I feel like I need to let you know what happened. I brought in my laptop after it got torqued it at the hinges and the display had gone to pink vertical lines. The tech said I needed a new screen. I was doubtful because the screen wasn't cracked and the camera still worked. I had been using my laptop with no issues hooked up to a monitor. But otherwise everything was fine with my laptop other than the display. The tech, David, explained how the connectors in the hinges are part of the screen, so that's why I needed a new screen. So they ordered the new screen and I took my computer back home and continued to use it for everything including my multiple zoom meetings until the new screen came in. Then the tech replaced my screen. Their first mistake was they had ordered the wrong color - it was for a darker laptop. So now I had a two-toned laptop. I wasn't exactly happy, but I didn't care that much and I wasn't going to ask them to redo it. Bigger issue - the built-in camera no longer worked! I was panicking because I had an important video meeting coming up soon and my laptop had come back from the shop with the camera not working! The friendly kid who answered my panicked call suggested that I download zoom onto my phone and then buy a webcam until I was able to bring the laptop back in. When I took my laptop back in I had a friendly and collaborative discussion with the tech about what could have caused the sudden failure of the camera. He checked my settings, which were fine. So our next guess was the new screen was shipped with a non-working camera. So we ordered a second screen. When the second new screen arrived the tech installed it - and the camera didn't work with the second new screen either. But we knew the camera had been working in the original screen. So I brought the original screen back to him to reinstall. But now the camera didn't work on the original screen either. Now we knew it wasn't a problem with any of the screens. The tech said that the connector probably had been damaged or shorted at the motherboard when he installed the first new screen. I agreed with him, because I had done some research and knew that was most likely. It's fairly common for damage to occur to the connection points on the motherboard when a new screen is installed. It was an innocent mistake, but a pretty bad one. However, just to be sure, we did a full operating system upgrade. We both knew it probably wouldn't work. We were both pretty sure the connector had been shorted when he worked on it the first time. But we were hoping it wasn't that. By this time, it's been weeks and weeks. It was discouraging, but we were still patiently working together. He installed the new operating system and made yet another mistake - he didn't reload my photos. He sent my computer home with no photos - my entire life's worth of family photos gone. Luckily he still had the backup, he just hadn't loaded them. But the camera still didn't work. My built-in camera will never work again without getting a new motherboard. I was very sad but I didn't ask for a refund. I wasn't even going to bother to write a review. But my husband reached out to the owner, "D" to let her know what happened and she denied that my camera had been working when I first brought the computer in! I don't know if the tech suddenly changed his story so he wouldn't get fired, or if she just made that up to cover her backside. Everyone knew the camera had been working! The tech and I had been troubleshooting all along knowing that the camera had been working. The helpful kid at the front desk also knew my camera had been working, because he had to talk me through what to do after I got my computer back with the new screen and the camera was no longer working. I didn't own a webcam, I didn't have zoom on my phone, I didn't initially know what to do - because until the tech installed the first new screen, the camera on my laptop had been working! My colleagues knew the camera had been working because on zoom I would look up at the monitor display, and my friends and colleagues would be looking at my neck and chin rather than my eyes because my built-in laptop camera was below the monitor. So I looked funny on video, looking up above the laptop's camera. (The WORKING laptop camera). The tech, the front desk kid, my colleagues, my husband, etc. - all knew the camera had been working until the the tech installed the new screen. To D's credit, she did offer $100 (out of $500), but it wasn't about the money. I cared about being gaslighted. I was blindsided by the sudden made-up story that the camera had been broken when I brought it in, when everyone involved knew that wasn't true. The tech tries hard, but is mistake-prone. And the owner doesn't take care of her customers. Take your computer somewhere else. read more

He gave me all the possible scenarios on what could be wrong and it turned out to be just the laptop screen. They did have to order it as it was not in stock so it was ready in a week as promised. OMG!!!! DML is the best computer tech & service shop in/out of town! The Techs know what they are talking about and explain everything to you so you can understand. They know what problem you are having and how to solve the problem with in minutes of your explaining it to them. I have been told by another shop that my computer was not fixable. Not true. Not only was it repairable but it was very inexpensive. DML techs are honest & knowledgeable. They also offer 24 HOUR TECH SUPPORT! First of all, I work in a school as a tech specialist, so I have some experience with hardware repair. When the power button on my daughter's laptop stopped functioning, however, I didn't trust myself to crack open the case to fix it (I'm much more comfortable with desktop repair). I realize I'm the dissenting opinion here but I will never again use this company. They are cheap yes, and they're nice enough... Until they screw up your computer and then refuse to fix their mistake. They wiped my entire laptop without an appropriate backup and when I got it back I was just lucky that I had backed up about half of my things myself. They are great until they screw something up. And maybe their mess ups happen only seldom, but I was not happy in the slightest at how it was handled once they realized they messed up. To add insult to injury, I was still asked to pay for the work they did on my computer... Which in reality was just wiping the hard drive (I could have done this myself for free) but I had taken it in with the expectation that it would be optimized and restored with a items backed up and replaced when finished. This clearly didn't happen so I just won't be back. read more
