I told Douglas, I was so impressed with our shoot, I'd have to write a review as long as Hamlet to do him any true justice. Douglas did my first headshot 4 years ago, and through all the other photographers I've worked with, Douglas is the one and only best of all. And don't let his over the top fair and inexpensive pricing fool you, he is the has remarkable quality and is the absolute best bang for your buck in LA. So many search and search for a headshot photographer in the overwhelming sea of photographers in and around Hollywood. If you're reading this review, you needn't search a second longer. You've found Douglas and he is an absolute master of his work. His eye is exquisite and second to none. His experience is built on decades of passion, God given talent, and a relentless fire to study and refine. He has the skill of a master, and the ambition and eagerness a student. Douglas also has a 6th sense when it comes to knowing when to snap the shot. I noticed during the shoot sometimes he'd snap early on a pose and other times he'd wait as long as 10 seconds or more. I mentioned it to him and he said he fully crafts each shot, and waits until your eyes move him, and what he captures of you in that fraction of a second is so honest and pure. Good photographers get 2 keeper shots out of 36. With my shoot, Douglas was 75 for 75 and I mean that literally. Every darn shot was stunning and each had something different to say. My only complaint is they're ALL so incredible, it's next to impossible to choose you're top 15 because they're all that good. Another thing with Douglas is he really enjoys his work which adds so much to the results for headshots. His enthusiasm for the work brings so much energy to your shoot and his warmth puts you at ease. He guides and directs you meticulously and comfortably. He answers questions thoroughly and thoughtfully. And one other thing that's definitely worth noting is his studio. It's clean, private, and very accommodating. He has a dressing room for you to use fully equipped with racks to hang clothing on, a big and brightly lit vanity, as well as almost anything you may need (hairspray, dental floss, trimmers, etc). Also, his studio equipment is top of the line which offers endless options of the very highest of quality (camera, lighting, software, etc). So there you have it. That's my attempt to articulate how great Douglas is and how amazed I am with our shoot. I'm quite obviously ecstatic with our results!!! Thank you so much Douglas. I was in need of a photographer for a headshot at the last minute and did a search for photographers on the Westside as I live in the Westside area of Los Angeles. I got in touch with Douglas who was not just responsive but incredibly accommodating with my urgent need for a headshot at the last minute. He quoted me a fairly reasonable price for his packages and was able to squeeze me in on the same day. The actual process and execution of the shoot was so smooth. He was thorough and explained what type of camera he was using and explained how his studio setup area works. The dressing room was comfortable and there was no sort of tension or uncomfortable feeling throughout that part of the process. Doug has an incredibly eclectic personality and was light-hearted throughout the actual shoot which made it easier for him to give the necessary and important direction and critique while the shoot happened. The price was right, as my budget was $150, the portfolio filled with stunning headshots. and a package offered with none of the overpriced bells and whistles. As I'm a bit of a control freak with my hair and makeup, and I didn't want or need 10 looks I just needed something fast, professional, and in a studio which is why I went with dmn Designs Photography. I found DMN on yelp, and I had a great experience shooting with Doug. He has a lot of visual knowledge and technical expertise, and since he comes from an entertainment family and has worked in the field himself he gets the idea of image and branding. You have the option to stay approximately another hour after the actual photo shoot so you can observe the "retouch" if you want or need it. I wasn't accustomed to this but it works well because the two of you discuss precisely how the final image is going to look. I dont think I can stress more, how appreciative and proud i am of This man Mr. Douglas Nelson. He truely blessed me with some of the most professional photography I've ever witnessed. Even though this was my very 1st photo shoot ever, Doug was so good at making me feel as if I was already a star.
