The area and the location is very nice. The owner and his staff were very nice reasonable. We had a great time.

Came up to DMV Jet Ski for some time on the water. There were a few places to choose from and I'm glad I chose to rent from them! From the second I arrived I was greeted by their friendly staff. Everyone from the folks working with paperwork to the "guides" who take you out were extremely personable. The ride and time itself on the jet ski was great! All their machines looked to be in great running order. Overall, I had no issues at all during my experience. So if you're looking for a place to rent from and want to make sure you're not going to run into an unfriendly staff or beat up jet ski's - make sure to go to DMV Jet Skis! read more

We had such a fun time and a huge range to explore with very little people on boats or other jet skis. Felt very safe and fun!

Don't go there. I rented a non working Jet ski and the company refused to give my money back. All I was told from them "sorry and our manager will contact you back" to offer me a free time instead of rental time that I lost with broken Jet Ski". the instructor who went out with us saw my jet ski not working and all she said "sorry i will talk to my manager". No one called and even when i call them they tell me we will call you back but still no one calls and they toke my money. Customer service is zero, if they took your money and you got the same jet then you losing it for good. read more

Close your eyes and envision a cozy Cape Cod just one hour outside of D.C.-- you've imagined Chesapeake Beach, MD where DMV Jet Skis is located. A quint and rather quiet town without many amusements, DMV Jet Skis gives you run for your money! Situated at a price ~$10-15 cheaper than comparable jet ski rentals in the area, DMV Jet Skis charges $70 for half an hour and $115 for a full hour. We arrived, checked in at their small office behind Marina West and took a short quiz on safety (the necessary responses are provided in a one-sheet statement page). We carried on great conversation with the staff members who were both friendly and efficient. One staff member gave us life jackets and took us out on the water earlier than reserved because everyone for the hour was in attendance-- SCORE! We got some extra time. For the one-hour tour, the guide takes you out to the water and you can go wherever you want as long as you stay in view of the guide. (It sounds kiddish, but you can go pretty far and still see them.) My boyfriend and I were at complete bliss out on the water! It's amazing to fly around, slicing through waves at 55 mph. We both rode the same jet ski and I primarily let him drive. Even being the passenger was fun-- I think I enjoyed it more than I did driving. If you're the passenger make sure you hold tight to the front person so you don't fly off. Our overall experience was amazing. I have nothing to complain about besides my slightly sore bottom and back today from my inability to keep my butt on the seat. Mixed experiences. First experience here in summer of 2017 was professional and courteous (5 stars). Second experience was less professional and courteous during the check-in process. We were delayed due to the front desk dealing with an incorrect reservation and servicing the jet skis with gas, which delayed departure and time in the water to 45 minutes. Instead of prorating the time or making the situation right the manager and employee were argumentative. Moreover, during our first visit the owner used stop watches to calculate time on the water. Nevertheless both experiences on the water were great both times. Great jet skis and picturesque location; however will report to BBB for improperly charging for an hour due to a delay not associated with the customer. Update: Owner reached out and called my friend who made the reservation to inquire further about our experience and make things right. As such, I've added another star and I'm much more likely to recommend and frequent the location again. Michael was also the individual who provided a 5 star experience during our first visit, which made us come back. His passion for his business and customers shines through! read more

I have been to many countries around the world, Europe, North America, Middle East...., but unfortunately by far, DMV Jet Skis had the worst customer we ever had, to the point we called the police to file a complaint for not honoring the confirmations sent by their system, and refusing to refund our money. Yes, we had to file such complaint, since we were their according to the appointment detail in the confirmation email, but their shop was closed, when a sign on their door shows thir office hours to supposedly be open. We got a police case number after he verified the confirmation email and the time we were there, which we plan to use with the credit card company to dispute the charge! Good customer service is a business art, that can turn a bad customer experience into a money making opportunity, for those who understand business and how to make money! read more

This is probably one of my favorite thing I did in my DMV trip. My friends and I had such an amazing time riding the jet skis. I highly recommend making reservations before hand so you don't have to spend hours to get your jet skies. Since we didn't reserve before hand we waited for two hours but we checked out this cool deli/market about 11 mins away so it was a win win for us :) staff was pretty nice as well. DMV jet skis did not provide the service we paid for. They gave us a rescheduled time and when we arrived, they were closed!!! We have the email confirmation to proof our day and time. Larry (the manager/supervisor/owner) said it was a mistake from the system that sent the email. Refused to give us another time nor refund our money. Stay away from this location. Staff were friendly and got you on the water with decent time. Ride area was limited and your jet ski was cut to limited power when you left the area so you had to slowly re-enter the area. Definitely not able to ride anywhere in the bay. read more

My husband and I came from Pennsylvania to get away for the weekend. We made a reservation online for the tour, got to the place and were told that we had to reschedule because of the weather. That was fine with us until we found out that, that was the only option. No refund!! That is terrible, especially if you don't live in the area and cannot come back the next day. The employees told us that they would call us when the weather cleared up or we could come back in the morning to ride.. they also said that they would come in early to take us on our tour! That was awesome! We did get to ride that day and also got an extra half hour. The only thing was, my husband and I flipped over during a turn in the water, the guy that took us out there was not paying attention. He was on his jet ski looking at his phone. I can't swim and informed them that I couldn't. Had my husband and the other couple not been there to help, it probably would have ended badly.. the guide had no idea that happened. It was very exciting though, despite all of the negative.. it was a great experience.. I will get swimming lessons! read more

My family had a wonderful time zipping along Chesapeake Beach on jet skis and taking in the lovely scenery. My grandson and I ran into a slight problem when the jet ski stopped far from land. We both have been riding jet skis for years and the first thing I checked was to make sure that the Emergency stop kill switch was still intact. The problem I had assumed that it was because my grandson was in front of me. Long story short I was wrong and it took the coast guard coming (15-20 minutes later) to troubleshoot the problem, then we were back to having fun. I don't blame anyone at DMV Jet Ski but I will suggest that they implement an emergency contingency that teaches their employees to respond to all possible situations. Luckily I had my cell phone to call and inform the owners wife of the situation but I feel she should have been more informed of knowing how to manage situations such as ours. She made no inquiries, suggestions nor troubleshooting instructions. That's where they failed but again I do not blame anyone. Overall, my family had a blast and we have every intention of returning. read more

Very nice staff and we had a terrific one-hour outing (it takes 10 minutes in each direction to get out and back, fyi). I read a one-pager on safety and answered questions, but other than that there was no additional verbal instruction or safety advice, even though this was my first time in the driver's seat. If you are comfortable with that, it's a great place to go. Being out on the get ski was super fun; we had the instructor come out with us and he hung out on his jet ski nearby while we rode about. read more

I was skeptical about riding jetskis after the one I was on overturned while vacationing in Jamaica. However, the owner of DMV Jetskis removed my fear by explaining the dos and don'ts. He then rode with me for 15 minutes prior to me deciding to ride alone. This was an awesome experience and I would definitely go back. I highly recommend using DMV Jetskis if you're looking to rent/ride jetskis in the Washington Metropolitan area. read more

There was zero information given to us about the perimeters of where the jet skis were allowed to go. Our instructor told us to "go have fun." During the majority of our ride, he was in our view. We turned around when our instructor gave us the five minute mark. He appeared to be looking for the other group ahead of us. We overshot where we should have gone and were very confused. We were at a standstill for quite a while hoping he would find us. The instructor clearly made no effort to come find us until the 30 minute mark - which was very convenient for them. We were not far away and he could have found us in minutes if he wanted to. They charged us an additional $74 in addition to the $115 we already paid. Those extra 30 minutes on the bay were not fun for us. Both of us were panicked and actively looking for the instructor. They gave us zero instructions on how to get back or any guidance on what to do if lost. We feel like we were exploited and when we finally returned, the employees didn't even want to listen to us or hear about our experience. This is extremely poor customer service. We will not be returning to this place of business and we plan to dispute the additional charges. read more

Overall, the experience was great! But we left on an uncomfortable note because of the staff member on duty. When we hopped on the jet ski, we told him that we had been here a few months back, and he coolly said that he didn't have to explain the rules and to be back in an hour. When we headed off the dock, I guess we left a little too fast, when we came back after an hour, the guy was screaming at us, yelling that we had to go a maximum of 4 mph when leaving the dock because of other boats. He went on about a 250$ fine we might have to pay, which luckily we didn't. The first time we jetskied, we had a different instructor lead us off the water the whole time. No one told us about having to go only 4 mph or the fine. If there was a 250$ fine on the line, he should've at least given us a heads up and told us that before letting us go out on our own. The person who was driving was also a Spanish speaker so he was confused when the guy was just screaming his head off at us from across the water. In all honestly, we probably did leave the dock faster than we should've and we did apologize. But it was only because we really didn't know. If these rules are that important, they should be said every time. Again, experience was fun, but I can't say we'll be back. I don't think that specific instructor ever wants us back anyway. read more

When we called, the owner told us a bunch of BS that we should've came an hour before. Was going back and forth with my friend and was obvious he doesn't care about customers. The most unprofessional and uncaring company Ever! On their website it says weekend hours are 10am-8pm, when you call and reach voicemail it ALSO says they close at 8pm... BUT I was told by the owner over the phone they close at 5pm on weekends.. I asked the owner does that mean I get there at 5 or how does it work and he says the last Jetski goes out at 4. I confirmed that they take walk-ins, and he said yes! I didn't make a reservation cause I wasn't sure if I would go. Nonetheless, me and my friends drive 1 hour and arrive to DMJ Jetski at 3:50pm. To my surprise I see a closed sign. I went next door to the company and asked if they're closed and the employee said they just saw them leave. I immediately call the place and have the phone on speaker so everyone can hear what is being said. Even the company next to him said that's a terrible way to run a business and he shouldn't be talking to a customer this way. The owner Michael, tells me he left around 3:50 and I said what? Why would you do that it's not even 4 and he says because he didn't have anyone scheduled for reservation today. And I said, that's besides the point, you clearly told me yesterday last Jetski is out at 4. Then he tells me I should've been there 30 min- 1 hour earlier to sign paperwork (I should've been there at 3pm)... I was shocked because he never ever told me any of this beforehand. His reasoning was because I didn't ask! He said I never asked what time I need to get here, that I only asked what time the last Jetski goes out! I told him you are a terrible manager for not taking it upon yourself to give a customer all the information needed to ride the Jetski. He was going back and forth with me for 10 minutes and never not once apologized or admitted he was wrong for 1 leaving early and 2 not giving me all the information I needed to make sure I got here in time. How was I supposed to know I needed to be there 30min for paperwork if he never not once mentioned it. He left earlier than he was supposed to and kept arguing that he's the owner blah blah. Very unprofessional and everyone around heard the whole conversation & was disgusted and told me to report it. It sucks that he's the owner also! The owner picks and chooses when he wants to close depending on how he's feeling. The website says they close at 8pm but if you call in he tells you they close at 5pm? Who does that! This is also the last weekend they open for the year and I wanted to make sure I went before they closed for good! But never again, Terrible establishment! I'm telling all my friends and family to never go here and to report this establishment. Everyone I came out with will also be reporting this! I had to create a yelp account to make this review! Called them by phone to confirm availability and details to rent jet skis. Drove 1.25 hours to get there. On arrival, they demanded to keep copies of all of our family's driver's licenses and kids would have to take a 13 question exam to drive. I told them the exam would be fine, even though it was unusual and time consuming, but I was only willing to show the driver's licenses for proof of age, not allow them to make copies of them to keep. Why do they need to keep a copy after they confirm ages? In today's day and age with so many cyber crime and fraud, no shop should be duplicating people's personal information without a highly secure encrypted system. Regardless, they failed to explain those details by phone in advance, or we could have saved a lengthy trip. They disappointed all of us to the nth degree. read more
