First of all, make an appointment. The lobby is now open at the DMV but there is a long wait if you didn't make an appointment before hand. I checked in right inside the door and was told I could go to a much shorter line than the endless one off to my right. I stood there for an hour, which wasn't that long, before I was seen by a very nice woman named Tina. I had two tasks today, one of which was rather complicated. Tina was unfailingly polite and good humored. Both my requests were taken care of in about 20 minutes. I was impressed. Really, take the time to go online and make an appointment. read more

Quick and easy. I got here at 10:06 for a car registration. They had 7 stations open and they got to me in 21 minutes with 12 ahead of me. A minimum wait. Plenty of seating and very low key. All done in 29 minutes. $236 for new title and registration for out of state vehicles for 2 years. It is next to Safeway and there are plenty of parking spaces. The DEQ is just down the road for those vehicles that require it. $10 fee read more

Is it safe to say medford DMV as well as many of the dmv's in the state of Oregon have failed to implement a plan to get people their license, registration and ID card, amoung other things during this pandemic?! Sending people to different counties all over the state because your local dmv has not restructured their location to accommodate the influx of residents needing license renewals. The phone lines are just an ongoing stalling tactic with no real way of finding a solution to getting an appointment. The website isn't any better. The medford DMV does not appear to be that crowded, yet your appointments are 2 months out?!! Maybe consider opening at 8:00 am instead of 10?!! Aren't you considered essential? I'd give 0 if I could, very rude staff that don't care at all about your time, it seems they are so angry at themselves for stopping so low to work at a place like the DMV, disrespectful and uncaring staff. There was FIVE people "working" there and they all seem to hate their jobs. These people that work here also take 2 HOUR LONG LUNCHES. They are so "short staffed" that they are unable to give any type of test past 1:45 PM. Ok- I know people hate the DMV - long lines, rude people etc etc.... but making a specific appointment online and then being able to wait a super short time and get right in?! Its great! My appointment was on time, the staff was SUPER NICE - probably because they dont have people yelling at them about the 2 hour usual wait. People may fuss about having to go online to make the appointment but its way better. I lost my home in the Southern Oregon Almeda wildfire and they were so helpful and kind and helped me with replacing everything. It was a good appointment. My experience at the Medford DMV was not bad at all. Considering how many people come into the DMV all day long the place was clean, The stuff that help me were very friendly and every time I have called I get a live person on the phone which is very convenient. The wait was not terrible either, I think I waited about an hour and came into the location about mid day. read more

The reason for the three stars is due to wait time for customers who come late morning to after lunch. The minimum wait time is approximately two hours. I came with my daughter in July and both times we waited at least two hours. Some people come to grab a number then leave to do errands and come back. Anyway my license was expiring and my experience is the same. Two hour wait time. Please don't get me wrong. The people working at the dmv are nice and we got what we needed to do done. I hope they are no longer short staffed so the flow is faster and wait time is better. The great thing though is you can actually check on their website to see the wait time. Worse than your worst nightmare. Tried to get an appointment for titling a car for months, only to find out after calling Salem that Medford hasnt set any appointments in months and it's one of the worst DMVs in the state for processing. Got there about 2 hours early and after an hour got to the window. That's when the nightmare began. The woman behind the counter kept asking where is the pink slip and we explained that the car was purchased from out of state and all paperwork had been sent to Salem and Salem had told us everything was complete except for the VIN check. She refused to look at any of the paperwork documenting this, saying I know what I need, I've been doing this for 25 years. Then she selectively started extracting documents and going over them carefully with an eye piece that looked like a jewelers loupe. When her window mate asked "is there a problem", she answered " just checking for forgeries" ( this is an old low value auto). All the time trying to dismiss us. Finally a supervisor intervened and 2 hours and incredible frustration later we made it through the ordeal! We know the DMV has staffing problems but staff like this only add to their headache. read more

I showed up as a standby at 1:15, with about 20 people ahead of me. They opened the doors at 1:30, by 2:30 I was on my way home with new plates, registration, new drivers license and registered to vote too. Everyone was competent and friendly. Ok, so here it is people. They are short staffed, have to close from 12:30-1:30 every day. Get here at 7:15-8:00 to get a seat and wait for 15min-1.5 hours. There is a line when you enter and you wait to get a number. After the first 50 people or so they are full inside and take your phone number to text you to return. You have 20 minutes (ish) to return and wait in the lobby. If you don't come here by 11:00 and get checked in, you might get in before they close at 5:30, but don't count on it. From 11:30-12:30 and on you won't get in that day and have to return the next day and try it all again. It is what it is. Come in early/get done before 12:30.. 1/2 a day.. read more

First time i've used the online system at DMV and it worked pretty well. Got to the counter 5 min after my scheduled appt time, used the online checklist for required doc's for the new Real ID which were verified at the check-in kiosk. I was out of there in 35 min. Every single time that I attempt to come to this DMV I leave at the sight of the line out the door just to get a ticket with your number on it! 15 counters, 100 people needing helped literally! People hogging 2 parking spaces! NO THANKS!!!!!! The "Express" line you have to stand in and it's all the way out the door too! What a joke! AVOID!!!!! I always go to Ashland DMV instead! 3 people at the counter and no more than 10 people needing helped! In snd out of there in 5 min! **Attention DMV legal team** My legal rights have been violated by the DMV . I have the legal right too Renew my license Up until the very day of my birthday, Which was taken away from me by the DMV when they closed the DMV to walk-in appointments. The DMV did not provide a Viable alternative in order for me to complete my obligation by the due date. The only way to renew my license was to make a appointment, but it was a 2 month backup to get a appointment. I went to the DMV weeks before my final due date but the DMV was closed to walk ins. I went home and made an appointment but the backup was 2months which put my appointment after the deadline. The DMV put up barriers and gates which made it Impossible for me to fulfill my obligation by the due date. After doing some research I found that I'm not the only person experiencing this issue, there are a lot of us out here that have had our legal rights taken away from us by the DMV. This will cost hundreds maybe thousands of people extra charges and extra time. They will have to take time off work, for example I will have to take off 2 days off work and pay extra charges. This issue is easily resolved by the DMV if only they would provide a short extension for people to Fullfill their obligations. They need to do the right thing! read more

Ok, so customer service at any DMV is a touchy subject. But I must say, after 10 years living in a large South West city, this DMV has been a very pleasant expierence each time I come. Unfortunately I needed to come three times over three months (drivers license, registration permits twice). Each time I came mid morning on a weekday and the lines were small and the clerks were friendly and helpful. As I stand in line I hear customers of all ages complain about the 15 minute MAX wait and I just chuckle. Try 4 hours! And apparently there are better locations in the valley. Pros: relatively short wait, no line to speak to the initial clerk who gets you set before you waste time in the real line, friendly employees (just smile at them and they'll smile back), express line moves quickly. Cons: Small parking lot, no credit card option, ants crawling on the ATM (slightly humorous). read more

Coming from California, most of my experiences at the DMV were very time consuming and not really all that pleasant. Today I reluctantly went in to take my drivers license exam and I could not believe how expedient this particular DMV was. Plus, every single person I needed to work with was extremely helpful as well as kind. I am so grateful Oregon has there act together on so many levels. No wonder this dmv is talked about having the worse service. For the 2 ladies they obviously have no respect and just pure rudness towards any kids. Letting my kid out the door to let a little energy out why we waited 45 min (only half way through are wait) was me being courteous to the other people having to wait also. You don't get to bring your attitude to work and take it out on other people. Just like if my daughter needed a moment was not everybody else problem. But to watch me walk me out and miss the door and have it shut on me and not doing anything is downright disrecpectful. Life is busy and a dmv trip is something we are forced to do. You chose to have this job and are doing a horrible job at making the dmv a better thing. Now everybody knows exactly who they are and how there attitude shows in such negative way and bringing the business down for standards. for whatever the reason is its not acceptable.
