If you go expect to wait a long time. . The Oregon DMV web site does not have any statements that you that you MUST HAVE AN APPOINTMENT!!!! Only for a driving test. So you show up and are told, "YOU MUST HAVE AN APPOINTMENT"!!!!! If you don't they'll give you a number and you're on a wait list. The list has a computer board that shows your wait time, but that wait time always changes to be longer. After waiting 40 minutes for a Board time that said 15 minutes to go, I left. The next available scheduled appointment is 5 days later. This is a terrible system and the website is not accurate. DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU HAVE A SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT, SCHEDULED ON LINE!!!!! read more

I went to the grants pass dmv today and was told its by appointment only unless you show up at 8 am. That is incredibly stupid for people who have jobs. And then when I asked the gal to schedule me an appointment she said she literally doesnt have that ability and I have to do it myself online. Why? Shes right there and can see appointments so she should have the ability. And then her "helpful" solution was telling me to walk to medford or klamath falls to do a walk in. Excuse me? Your solution is sending people to another city? Or hoping they are unemployed so they have the time to hang out at the dmv for hours starting at 8 am? That is insane. If you show up at like 4 wanting something lengthy I could understand turning people away, but I showed up at just before 3 and just need an updated ID, which I seriously doubt would even take 20 minutes. Additionally, if that is the requirement, put it on the page of your website about real id. It literally says appointments aren't required but may be available. Super frustrating and a waste of my time. read more

Why isn't zero stars an option?I am a DSP and have been working for WEEKS to help my person get her drivers permit. She passed the test online (which is another complete issue of the most confusing, misleading questions! Drivers of 30+ years couldn't answer them correctly when I questioned them later....) anyway after three trips, we finally had all the paperwork and was ready to get the printer permit. With school, we got there just after 4pm and they were no longer giving numbers, but the receptionist said that if we were there and it was before 5, we would be served, no matter how long our request took. We waited and the place cleared out, but there was a guy that didn't have the $ and was at the counter CALLING PEOPLE and taking calls, demanding them to send him cash. He wasted everyone's time, and instead of the DMV worker asking him to step aside, or come back, we waited OVER 15 minutes for just that guy. The rude guy finally left 4 minutes before five. The DMV lady said she has to call and ask for permission to serve us BEFORE THEY CLOSED!!!!!! Our process would've taken less than five minutes and the receptionist said she couldn't take us. Our tax dollars pay for the disservice we receive every time we go to the DMV. When are people going to have enough for things finally change there? read more

While we did have to wait an hour because we could not get a timely appointment online, the staff there was really good and kept everyone apprised of what they needed before they got to the window and did inspections if needed prior to your number getting called. The woman that helped us could not have been any nicer. Once we got to the window we were back in the car in under 15 minutes. Great service! read more

Slow isn't even the start of it! Why are most of the testing machines empty? I'm told the machines are booked all day, yet they sit empty. I have been trying to set up an appointment for three weeks and always miss the online appointments. Medford is just as bad if not worse. read more

The 3 ladies working today are FANTASTIC!! Not only was I in and out but there was an oops made (my bad) and they all worked hard to fix it right away! Wow! Best experience in my 44years of dealing with Oregon DMV in Grants Pass. Checked in at a kiosk a few minutes prior to my appointment time. I was finished renewing drivers license and applying for new RealID including new photo in 12 minutes. Jessica was great. They have definitely improved their service to the public. My appointment was on a Tuesday morning. read more

I was in DMV hell today in this office. 1hr 55 min wait to renew a drivers license. My main issue is not necessarily with the wait, but the fact that I watched at least 20-30 people, who arrived after me, taken care of, before me. I watched one clerk, taking care of a customer for over 50 mins! His attitude was very "kicked-back. Totally oblivious. There was absolutely no sense of urgency or customer service to help the lobby full of customers. Clerks put their "closed" signs up (I'm assuming to take a break) with no replacement. With a full lobby, at one point, there was only clerk available. This office has certainly gone down hill over the years. Stear clear, unless you have nothing else better to do. read more

After a 2 hour wait they said I have to wait again because my phone wouldn't pull up my insurance policy number fast enough. I know that at least in other states they KNOW when you do and don't have insurance. Why can't we sue the government when they have a monopoly? read more

I've been to the GP DMV three times. One to get my Oregon license, because I'm an Okie and apparently according to the law it's illegal to stay an Okie. They were friendly, but not testing anymore that day. Played hookie from work, went with all of the necessary documentation, tested, got my Oklahoma tags switched for Oregon ones, took the most horrible license pic ever, and was on my way. The lady was relieved that I had all of my documentation. The girl before me was yelling at her because she didn't have her stuff together. Oh sweeti. It's called Google. It tells you what to bring. Third and final time, went in, waited my hour (personal paid time off work yet again, score!) to change my car and license after I got married. Again, nice friendly service. To the masses: it's a DMV. Please don't expect these people to break rules for you. It's not going to happen. Also please expect them to give others the same courtesy as they give you. Aka don't expect a five minute visit. Plan ahead. It takes time to get things done. Google your documentation requirements before you come so you won't have to leave and come back 19 times. I had to register my truck. There were about 30 or so people inside waiting. Took them well over 45 minutes for me to be seen. The funny part of the visit to my first Oregon DMV was that I met the DMV Nazi. She was cracking me up by yelling at people in the room. All in all, it was a comical visit. I have to give 3 stars in that I am now paying $86 every two years for my truck where in Cali I pay $722 a year. read more

Is it impossible to have friendly employees? Every time i go there i the people that "help" me are very rude and unfriendly. Usually im not 100% sure what im doing when i go, and need a little assistance on figuring out what i need to do or fill out. The employees alway treat me like im stupid. I hate going there. Upon entering I was approached by some obnoxious, unkempt hag who sighs and condescendingly asks "So...What's your story?". I simply wanted my license updated to include my veteran status, which should have only taken a few minutes. This ignoramus misinterpreted my request as wanting a completely separate ID. Then continues to ask me for several unnecessary documents while still unable to put 2 & 2 together after I clearly explained what I was there for, once again. So much better then the medford dmv! By the time u get your number called in medford u ciuod be in and out of grants pass dmv including the 30 minute drive from medford to gp. Also the ppl in gp are so more friendlier! Im 29 yrs and finally getting my license back after 7 yrs of paying the price for things I have done, I felt like medford treating me like a convict and gp treats ppl like ppl! Dont waste your time at medford! They suck. read more

Amazingly enough, I walked into the DMV on Wednesday and there wasn't another soul in the office other than the clerks! I already had my forms filled out so I went right up to a person to change a title and renew registration and was walked out with tags in hand and wallet a little lighter in about 5 minutes. The clerk was very personable and nice! I never would have believed that going to the DMV could be that easy! read more
