Have to say I was pleasantly surprised how well this visit went. They open at 8 a.m. on Saturday, we got there about 745 and there was already a line. They were very orgnaized and friendly. Went to renew our license, from start to finish it took 45 minutes, which again I felt that was pretty good for the amount of people there when doors opened. The staff was nice, I heard someone say this was the staff from the Eastern Hills Mall DMV, so shout out to them. Job well done. read more

I took my adult daughter in without an appointment after being turned away at another location. She was able to be seen after a lengthy wait but she was seen the same day nonetheless. I explained the situation my daughter was facing to the woman at the window after waiting in the "I do not have an appointment" line for 30 minutes. She was sympathetic and gave me a number and I was told to have a seat. We sat for the next hour and a half until her number was called. It seems unreasonable to be upset at having to wait when you don't have an appointment. Life happens. Sometimes people fail to plan properly. Sometimes surprises happen in life and you find yourself stuck between a rock and a hard place. Neither one is a reason to receive special treatment. So if you do receive it be grateful and just grin and bear the wait. The clerks at this location were kind and helpful. This will be the location I go to the next time I need to go to the DMV. read more

Wasn't sure what to expect when I went in to renew my expired license. Pro tip in case you don't get a reminder sent in the mail, it last eight years and expires on your birthday. I didn't make an appointment although you can do that now figured I'd take my chances and got there when it opened. I was in and out in 40 minutes. Had no issues and everyone was pleasant! read more

So I came back to do some title transfer work. I was back about 6 weeks ago for a new license. Have to say, they don't let a ton of people in, they manage to a schedule of appointments. If you don't have an appointment you won't get it. Appointments can be made on line. The website is fairly easy. They make sure you have paperwork needed before you move on in the process. Then it's the usual sit and wait for your number to be called. The chairs are widely spaced. I did notice someone using wipes periodically. They have put in a lot of plastic shields and they havnt lowered the volume of the speakers, so it's VERY HARD to communicate with the employee assigned to you. If you are hard of hearing? This place would be a huge challenge. That's why we are down to 3 stars. But, the appointments make it faster overall, maybe they will keep that process after Covid. Who knows. I never understood why the DMV's get such a low rating. You are coming here expecting to wait. You shouldn't even begin to think, your leaving in 5 minutes. Knowing this, I always bring something for me to do. whether I'm on my phone or listening to music. Find ways to occupy your time during the wait. I also never had a problem with customer service. I moved back home to NY after my military service ended. I have my vehicle registered in California (last duty station) and came in to get them switched over to NY plates and register the vehicle. I walk in the front door only to be told you need an appointment in the most rude way possible. I look, there is ONE (yes, one) person in line. I ask the lady if I can wait because there isn't a long line and her response was "get out of my DMV unless you show me an appointment confirmation number, we are short staffed." What a wonderful way to treat your former military members. Needless to say, I made an appointment and will be going back on Monday. If that lady is there again at the front door, I won't even acknowledge her. She deserved to be fired. read more

People have a really bad stigma about the DMV; Long lines, unhelpful and rude associates at the counters, not able to do what you went there the first, or even the second time going.. The location at Eggert and Sheridan is NOTHING LIKE THAT. I've gone here several times, but always get great service and I have not waited more than 10 minutes. Today I went to change my address and renew my registration, and my number was called 1 minute after I was handed my forms. I barely had time to figure out how to spell Michael (middle name) before I was at the counter and being helped by a friendly and knowledgeable employee. I will always come back here because it is super quick and great. Total time from walking in to walking out was barely more than it took me to type this review on my phone. read more

When I moved here from Washington state, I had to register my car to NY state. When the lady saw I was from out of state, she looked me dead in my eye and told me to "back to wherever you came from", and "why the hell does everyone have to move here"? I'm not even joking. It took every fiber of my soul to not jump across the counter and throttle the life from her. I don't care how much you hate your job, you don't say stuff like that to customers. I'm a fan of this place. It's clean and well staffed. The person that greeted me in the beginning was really nice and explained things clearly and was friendly. I got a number, filled out the forms and waited. I was getting a vehicle so there was a title transfer and registration involved. Just as we filled out the forms, my number was called up and I talked to a wonderful staff member named Peggy. She was very friendly and helpful in helping me get the car registered. In the mean time, Jenna -- another friendly staff member came by and chatted for a while. What a nice place. Made getting all the proper documentations a breeze and not stressful at all. I really appreciate it when a place can do that. It would be nice if they sold coffee or water here because of the longer wait times, but just come earlier in the morning (9:30 - 10a) before the lunch time rush and you probably won't have to wait too long! read more

DMV actually stands for "Do Me, Vladimir." I find myself saying it a lot when in Russia and the Ukraine. True story. I visited this DMV probably 10 times during the years that I lived in Amherst. It was my local DMV and it was usually a nightmare. I was last here maybe 18 months ago, and little has changed. The lines are usually long, the service is usually cold and impersonal. I'm not a fan of DMV's in general but the Eastern Hills one has always been better and quieter for me than this one. I've never had good experiences at the DMV on Sheridan. Poor customer service, long wait times, and worst of all the horrible nickel & diming for any given issue that you are probably used to if you've dealt with the DMV. For a long time this was my local DMV and I didn't like it at all. There was one woman who was nice to me, one time, and for that reason I'll give it a 2 instead of a 1. But the Eastern Hills DMV is much, much better. read more

With the current SARS Cov-2 thing still going on, I had to wait over 2 1/2 months for this appt. Just like everyone else. Understandable and we're all inconvenienced in all sorts of ways but mostly we put up with it all to help save lives and just pray our sacrifices help it just go away. Going for a CDL for a job thats waiting for me. My cost was $10. Left card at home so had to go out and scrounge inside vehicle for the cash then come back in and wait... Ok. All good. Took written CDL test which is actually in a front area that's partitioned off with only 3 computers for testing. Passed. Went back up to the same person after telling me to do so after the test. Got barked at for not 'getting a ticket'. Said I needed 3 more tests and that I'd 'be here for a long time' Ok, now I had to leave and go find a bank, while doing that, a distraught friends son called as his mother had just passed the day before. She had helped me study and made me promise not to miss the test appt. by sitting with her. Then had to find a pit stop as I was told I'd be there 'for a long time'. Got back into dmv after about an hour on the phone with her son and bank and pit stop. Got barked at again for not having a 'ticket', paid another $10 and the dmv person said she'd hold onto my drivers license and I could just come back to her after taking the 3 tests, 1st one passed, 2nd one passed, by the time I was on the 3rd test, the son kept texting me needing help. Yes it was a distraction but very unplanned and I had thought I'd be out by then. Turned phone on silent, proceeded to finish the 25 question 3rd test but failed- by 1 question, yes, I was just distracted. I had explained to the worker the situation from the start. Thinking I better get this 'ticket' I waited in that line 15-20 minutes before going back to the person holding my license and that person really barked at me and said I'd been here too long and to leave. Well I couldn't as the other person still had my drivers license. Sat and waited in front of her window for her for about 20 minutes and asked if I could just quickly re-take the test as I was off by 1 question, said no, asked to speak to a supervisor, they said I'd been there too long and I'd have to make another appt. Too long?!?! I asked, what could it possibly hurt if I just paid another $10 and took the test again now? Two of them stood at the window and barked at me saying I was there too long. Added up, I was probably in the building for at most maybe a bit over 2 hours, most of which was spent waiting for them. Then they tell me very rudely that I'm only supposed to be there 2 1/2 hours. Well, I was well under that and why didn't the 1st person that told me twice that I was going to be there 'a long time' tell me that?? As I walked out there was NO ONE on the test computers. Honestly... how hard would it have been to just let me re-take the 25 question test with phone turned off and focus on the test and get it over with and on my way? The people working there do have to deal with all kinds of people. I'm sure some of the public can be annoying and test ones patience but if you can't be polite and courteous with the public who are paying your wages... get a different job for goodness sake. I overheard several other workers getting nasty with people needing help. I felt really badly for them. So, now I have to schedule another appt for that one test, looks like January 2021 before I can. I may loose this job opportunity, loose out on severely needed income for those three months just because these condescending rude soulless employees have a bit of power over you and enjoy using it, and likely have miserable personal lives outside this place, just so they 'think' they did their job and served the public that day!! HA!! This was the worst experience I have EVER had at a dmv office and I've been driving for almost 40 years. Top if off, I live in the southtowns and didn't want to wait an extra two weeks for an appt at the West Seneca dmv as I desperately need this job. I was not eligible for the unemployment and CARES Act funds of $600 a week. I need this job. So, I wasted gas. Wasted time. To be treated so rudely. It was horrible. If you are ok with nasty rude purposefully mean people... this is the place for you. If I enjoyed the abuse, I'd still be with my psycho nut case ex. I'll never go there again and I highly DO NOT RECOMMEND YOU DO EITHER. SERIOUSLY!!!!! THESE WORKERS NEED TRAINING IN BEHAVING PROFESSIONALLY. I really try to give DMV employees the benefit of the doubt when it comes to their level of patience when it comes to their job. How ever, it seems like they only hire people who are rude and unprofessional. Also, the county needs to keep its website updated with most current info on documents needed for certain tasks at the dmv. I waited in line for 30 mins to be one of the first in line and when I got up to the front desk to present my paperwork I had a document that was from 2016, not 2017. Both of the employees at the customer service desk were extremely condescending about this. I understand that you're probably sick of telling people the same info a million times per day, but you work there, I don't--so, please don't treat me like I'm an idiot. My thoughts from our appointment on Thursday afternoon: WOW! Thank goodness for online appointments and for the stuff we wanted to do being straightforward! To remove my dad's name from and leave mine on my car's title and registration, it was MUCH easier than I was anticipating (considering I couldn't find the necessary information online and was a bit nervous). I was in and out in under 15 minutes! Plus, the woman who attended to us (shoutout to window #2!) was very helpful and thanked us for our humor and said she needed it that day. This is definitely a typical DMV. There was one girl at the front desk that obviously hated her job but years of working in customer service has taught me that I hate people too. This place is a JOKE! I had an 8:45am appointment. Which isn't ACTUALLY an appointment, it's just the time they allow you to start to stand in line. AND by the way-there are more people in here then at a wedding reception so we are absolutely violating the COVID 19 rules. The county clerk should be ashamed of himself. Another time that I went there I been there 20 min before they opened and almost were few first people on the line by the time that they opened their door was long long line behind me :) learned that I have to be really early or around 4:15 because they wanna leave soon and will speed up to help you ;) read more

This is the first DMV I had visited that was super clean, friendly service and fast, there are a few other good one's but this one is the best I had visited. Close second is the one in Folsom, CA. I'm a consultant & I travel a lot and being a temp resident I have to get it renewed every few years so lot of experiences visiting various field offices in different states. read more

Nobody likes going to the DMV, but this place wasn't so bad. It's one of the only offices in the area with something that resembles normal daytime hours, unless you want to go to the Rath building downtown (shudder). I was even 'that guy', showing up at 4 o'clock to renew my car registration (they close at 4:45). Nevertheless, I got my ticket, waited about 40 minutes, and took care of my business before leaving around ~5. Not a bad experience at all, probably worth the drive to avoid the stress of other locations. read more

Was mad and wanted to write a review about the service I received from a particular employee. Then saw that someone had already written a review about her. She's a blonde lady who works at desk 4. She's super rude and didn't want to help me with my issue. You could tell she was trying to just get me to leave and she even rolled her eyes at me and asked me "so what do you want me to do?". Her greeting was "Yes, what". I left really disappointed and angry that day. I went back another day and received great help and service from another employee i believe at desk 8. She was a very nice lady and did everything she could to help me resolve my issue. read more
