Two high schools, multiple elementary schools, lots of great neighborhoods, plenty of parks, great shopping nearby and easy access to the highway (400) for easy commuting to other places. For a small(ish) town, West Seneca has a lot to offer. The town center area has a newly remodeled library (which even has a coffee shop in it), the pool is beautiful and the town park has a bandshell and other public spaces like baseball diamonds. There are locally owned and chain restaurants and of course, Southgate Plaza which has a variety of retail stores. And a creek that runs through town as well. It is a great place to live and a great place to visit.

West Seneca is definitely one of the rougher areas of Buffalo in my opinion and I've had a lot of attitude from people who live around here and have never really felt too welcome or safe on the streets around here either. Definitely a low-income area and has some kind of attitude and a lot of racial tension here as well. You'd think low-income people of various races would want to stick together. Empathize. Have each other's back. Strength in numbers. Not so much. Someone has us well controlled and fighting against each other, don't they. They also have some of the best pizza you'll ever eat, so if there is a good reason to come down here it's the pizza and some of the other food as well. Not so much great ethnic food, but some wonderful Pizza and wings for sure. Snow down here can get pretty bad and that's one of the things I'm not big on. And the police are absolutely awful - pulling you over for just a couple miles over the limit and telling you that you did all kinds of things that you didn't do. Now here's the original review: West Seneca is super awesome. I would give it a 5 out of 5 except that I've had a few bad experiences with the locals here and so have a few of my friends. But there are good and bad experiences and attitudes everywhere so I don't hold any grudges. I find that people from the East are more optimistic, whereas I find the "West Cynical." I come to West Seneca all the time because of the fantastic food. Whether it's Abbott Hots, or my fave Pizza and Wings ON EARTH at Imperial on Abbott, or the best real Mexican food ON EARTH at Valle Of Mexico on South Park (which may technically be in SoBu, but who's counting?)... it's replete with resplendent revelations. This experience was nearly as bad as my Cheektowaga Court experience. They were unwilling to listen, and weren't very nice to me. It didn't cost a horrendous amount, but honestly I do feel as though the whole system is designed to take money off the common man and woman. I know a lot of people agree with me. That's life. Some people accept it and celebrate when others are fined for minor infractions that aren't actually as dangerous as 99% of the things that are legal, or as cops pulling people over in the first place... but I don't. It's in a nice location though with pretty surroundings.

I live on the edge of Cheektowaga near Amherst, so coming to town hall is about a 10/15 minute drive for me. You can take care of your typical legal business here, such as tax payments, dog licensing, etc. I've visited here twice for both of these reasons. It's a semi-dated building on the inside, original architecture mixed with some 80's elevator system or something (I don't know the exact date the elevators were put in, I'm just making them seem old here). If I recall correctly, part of the building was under repairs during my last visit. There's plenty of signage telling you where you need to go, at least! As long as I continue living in the town, I'm sure I'll find my way back eventually.

Doors open at 6pm and the first ball is pulled at 7:30. We didn't think it was that serious and came about 6:45 to be safe. The parking lot was packed and there was only seating in an enclosed smoking section. Needless to say we did not stay. We might try again another day. If we do I'll write an updated review of the experience. If you want to come and sit in the non smoking section I'd say you need to be here by 6:15. Beer and wine are also served here which is cool.

If you have the opportunity, take one of the free guided tours so you can learn more about the history, architecture and building of this masterpiece. There are so many incredible details and so much outstanding art. You can view it on your own (there is some signage about what it is) but you really get a better understanding and experience if you take one of the tours. They are offered on weekdays at noon and are free! The 13th floor houses the council chambers and there is a gorgeous sunburst skylight that is absolutely worth seeing. The thing not to miss is the observation deck. The views from the 28th floor are simply spectacular! You will have to take some stairs to reach the observation level, so keep that in mind if you have difficulty with mobility. Whether you tour the inside or just catch a glimpse from the street of the majestic columns and imposing structure, don't come to Buffalo and miss a visit to City Hall!
