DO NOT USE THIS DJ!!!!!! WORST DJ EVER!!!!!!! THEY WILL RUIN YOUR WEDDING!!! I used DNA for my wedding back in October and the DJ was horrible!!! I will start at the beginning. When we meet with DNA they had us meet with one of the senior DJs they have on staff, but when it came to booking DNA, that DJ was unavailable so he suggested another DJ. When it came to meeting this DJ only a few months before the wedding, the DJ seemed annoyed we asked to meet him, he seemed uninterested in what we had to say and gave both of us the impression we were wasting his time. He showed up about 45 minutes late, after we paid to extend the time limit an hour to make sure that he would have enough time to set up both the reception and ceremony sites. He claims he was lost. Then when I asked for that money back I was told no. We paid extra money to have the DJ at the ceremony site so our live music could plug into the system, however on the day of the wedding the DJ argued with our musician in front of our guests!!! Then the DJ left the cocktail hour early because he needed to set up the reception site. I was later informed by staff members that they set up his equipment because he did not know how to!!! What DJ does not know his own equipment? He informed the staff that this was his first wedding!!!!!! AFTER we were told that all the DJs had several years experience in DJ-ing weddings! During the reception, the DJ was horrible! He messed up announcing the bridal party, then he almost messed up our name!!!! We are the bride and groom and the DJ almost forgot it! During the father daughter dance he messed up the music and stopped it half way through, realized what he did and restarted it! I found out after the wedding that I had guests going up to him and requesting music and he would ROLL his eyes and say when he gets to it, he gets to it!!! I did not pay all that money for him to be rude to my guests! I informed the owner and his response was, I will talk to the DJ! That's all!!! Then he was also rude to my mother! She went up and asked for other music to be planned because she thought more people would enjoy other music, he said to her, "I didn't ask for your opinion did I?" Who says that to the mother of the bride? Needless to say the entire night did not go the way I planned and when I informed the owner, he didn't seem to care! It was very frustrating and it is hard to hear that people did not enjoy the music or dancing part of the wedding! I would suggest to anyone and everyone that is planning on using DNA is to RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! RUN in the other direction!!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!! They do not care! read more

I'm really not sure why everyone says DNA is so fabulous... my experience with them was pretty negative. I had my wedding in Carmel recently, and hired DNA at the start of the planning process (about 9 months before) to provide DJ services. Generally speaking, they were pretty unresponsive. After expressing my dissatisfaction, I was suddenly assigned a different DJ. This DJ was very nice... but ultimately brought the music worksheet I had provided in February (and significantly revised since then) to the wedding in October, and consequently neglected to play key songs (including my Dad's song dedication to my Mom), made hardly any of the important announcements I'd scripted, and wasn't paying much attention to what actually got the guests dancing, but rather focused on what he thought should appeal to guests at a wedding reception around 9:30pm... Overall, not a great experience and I definitely wouldn't recommend DNA to any brides-to-be. @Anthony K.: the only "discrepancy" is between how you say your company operates and how they actually operated at my wedding. I filled out the 9-pg planner. Then, over the course of 9 months, I revised it, and I delivered the revised version to my DJ BOTH in-person AND via email prior to the wedding, yet Jon used the outdated version at my wedding. To make things worse, two of my groomsmen were planning to sing during the dances and had emailed their accompaniment tracks directly to Jon. They got no acknowledgement, so they emailed Jon, and I emailed him, and they sent the tracks again... and on the day of the wedding, Jon said, "no, I never got the tracks." Interestingly, you, Anthony, were supposed to have been my DJ originally. But I had emailed you several times with several questions, you were completely unresponsive, when you did respond, your email was rude and patronizing, and when I complained to my event planner about it and they spoke with you, suddenly I was introduced to Jon, my "new" DJ. Say whatever you want to make yourself feel better. But not much is going to make me feel better for having spent thousands of dollars with your company. read more

Where to even start? Jon Belmont with DNA Entertainment was an integral part of our wedding reception and planning. If receptions had MVP awards for vendors, he would have won it unanimously! We started working with Jon close to a year before the big event and right from the start his professionalism and insights showed through and were a huge help to us. Many of our major decisions were a direct result of his advice not only with his DJ experience but as a consultant for our event rental too. We live in Oregon and were married in Carmel, so to have someone like Jon made planning remotely so much easier. He was highly organized and had checklists and timelines that helped us plan much more smoothly. Our reception had many customized events including special cuts of songs, guest speeches, choreographed dances, multiple rooms, and several activities just to name a few. Jon emceed each one of those things flawlessly and there was never a question of timing or location thanks to him. All we had to do was enjoy ourselves and that we did with ease! We knew the night was going to be great when our wedding party was introduced for the grand entrances into the reception. Jon brought us all in red carpet style to wonderful music and perfect announcing. It made us feel like rock stars! Then, when it was finally time for everyone to dance, his first song filled the dance floor. To this day, many of our guests are still talking about how they never saw a dance floor fill so quickly! And it never stopped. He was great at mashing songs and kept it going to the very end. One of my favorite parts of the evening was when I looked over to the DJ booth and saw Jon with his ear cocked to a set of headphones, both hands on his mixing table, a grin from ear to ear, and dancing to the groove like all of us. It is a vivid memory I will enjoy forever. If the DJ is having that much fun, then you better expect we are all having that much fun too. We loved every moment of working with Jon. We hired DNA for our Aug 2016 wedding at the Monterey Plaza, and it was a great experience. Central Office: Their sales staff was great - fast response time, and really patient with how wedding planning was always at the bottom of our to do lists. Communications were clear. There was a minor credit card snafu, but they called me, got things sorted out, and got everything properly charged and reimbursed without any reminders. DJ: Our DJ was Evan, and he did a great job. The sound was perfect, there were no technical hiccups, and his music selection was absolutely perfect from the notes we provided about our music preferences. Best of all, we literally had to do nothing the day of the wedding - he handled all the setup. Photo Booth: We also made a late addition of a photo booth from DNA, and it was a great choice. The pictures are lots of fun, DNA provided some great props, and the booth attendant, Chris, was super helpful. They also include a personalized logo at the bottom of the strip, and while it took us a few attempts to get the logo right, their artist was very accommodating and our logo was really cute. We also got the digital files of all the photos in a timely fashion, which was appreciated. If I ever host an event in Monterey again, DNA will definitely be my first choice for a DJ! read more

We got married at the Plaza in July and had Anthony as our DJ and boy did he do a good job. Our dance floor was poppin all night! Two months after the event and I am still getting complements from our guests, of all ages, on how good of a job he did. The playlist was well balanced and appealed to every age and genre. He was great about including our favorite songs, which we aligned with him ahead of time on, but was also good at taking requests on the fly. We just got married a couple weeks ago and had the pleasure of working with Jason O'Neil from DNA. From the start, Anthony at DNA was very helpful and responsive in answering any questions that I had. DNA as a company was great, but the thing that was by far the best part of our experience with them was our DJ, Jason. He worked very closely with us when we were picking our songs (and changing them later) and he was extremely professional and helpful the whole time. We got married at Gardener Ranch, and there are several different venues that need to have speakers, microphones, etc. He had everything set up perfectly, and accommodated all of the special requests that we had. He was a great MC, directing the guests where they needed to go and letting them know what was going on next (ie, toasts, cake cutting, etc.). As good as an MC that he was, he was an even better DJ. He played all of the songs that we asked for, none of the ones that we didn't want, and his mix was perfect. We had the amazing DJ Mario Castellanos from DNA entertainment MC our 4th of July 2013 wedding. Mario worked closely with my husband and myself to pick out the music for our wedding. He also helped us find songs that would be appropriate for our wedding timeline during the day (guests arriving, wedding procession, ceremony, cocktail hour, grand entrance, dinner, cake cutting and dancing). It was a lovely day capped by 4th of July fireworks lighting up the sky across the Monterey bay. Mario is really creative with music and was kind enough to have his lovely wife join our special day. We had him at our ranch last night for a huge party that we throw every year so it was very important that we have a good DJ.. he knew how to get our crowd going with karaoke, country & also mexican music. Evan Parker was the DJ for our wedding at Nicklaus Club and he was fantastic! Evan took the time to connect with us 3 weeks in advance of our special day and then again meet with us in person the week before our event to discuss our timeline, expectations and music preferences. He was very professional throughout and the day of our event worked seamlessly with our wedding coordinator and photographer to make sure that we were in the right place at the right time. He kept the party hype the entire night and played exactly the music we had asked him too. Jason O'Neill was our DJ at Monterey Beach Resort (Unscripted) a couple weekends ago. From the first time we met him, we knew he was the right choice. He has a great personality, he's friendly, and passionate about his job. He made us feel comfortable and confident in his abilities. He was able to customize our first dance song; and even played specific reggae/calypso songs we requested. The dance floor stayed crowded all night.
