I love Ann and Steve! They are the best wife and husband duo in Monterey! They did an amazing job putting together the music for our wedding. We had Steve and one of his colleagues (Flute player that played with Stevie Wonder) do a guitar and flute duo for our ceremony! It sounded amazing!! It was classy without being stuffy and old! They even learned Edelweiss for our ceremony and did more contemporary songs. Steve and Ann then moved everything from our ceremony to Tarpy's at no additional cost. How many times can you say that when you are planning at wedding? Steve then played solo guitar during cocktails and moved to DJing for the rest of the night. They definitely kept the party going all night long! In addition to all of this they also supplied all the sound systems from our ceremony to our reception. We had our wedding out doors and if we had not had mini microphones to catch our voices, no one would have heard us. No matter if you having an indoor or outdoor wedding make sure to use microphones! After meeting both steve and ann at the highlands inn to meet a potential live singer for our wedding, we decided to book Neil, our singer and a keyboardist for our special day at the intercontinental in monterey. Many things were promised to us and we felt accomodated before the booking but after they got out our deposit and especailly the final payment we were no longer really important. Our prerequisite of booking them was for the singer to sing "back at one" at our wedding, my husband and I's favorite song. They promised they would sing it no problem etc. About a month before the event i sent a list of songs that i got off their website to see if they could play that at my wedding. Songs I chose were many songs I heard during i saw them play live with a two piece band. Steve got on the phone and was extremeley passive aggressive and told me all the reasons why they couldnt do that and why shouldnt i just hire a dj and so on and so forth. I was like REALLY!??? so close to my wedding i just tried to minimize my problems and move on. Me being a person who is musically challeneged, was not aware that a 2 or 3 piece band wouldnt be able to produce those dance songs etc, but those same songs were played during our visit when we saw them play live so i had no clue why certain songs couldnt be played? hmm. I felt they have extremely poor client management skills and really just didnt manage my expectations nor advise me on what songs could be done with the 2 piece etc and made me feel belittled. Hello- I am the client here and the bride!! Who made you king of the jungle? My DJ- who was hired seperate of them- was treated even poorly over the phone by steve himself. I had tried to see if the two musiciaans would be able to share the same speakers during the event to avoid having to tear their stuff down during the middle of the evening when the singer was done (and the DJ began). Steve spoke to my DJ in such a unprofessional manner, i was appauled, and my DJ called me right after telling me that he made him feel like he was unimportant and that he was some ghetto dj from the bay and that he was just " in the way". COmpletely unacceptable. I had a feeling this was the case when he told me he didnt want to dj at my wedding anyore after speaking to steve as that is how i felt in speaking to him personally. Good thing i convinced the dj that was not my intention to make him feel that way and that i do not know why nor did i give steve the authority to do something like so. I didnt bring this up to steve as i was over his passive aggressivenesss and let it go. Regardless of the anguish over song choice before the event, the day of was ok. Everyone raved about the band but my big complaint the day of was that the band took a 10 minute break in the middle of dinner unannounced, leaving there to be bleak silence - only for my wedding planner to find them where?- outside, taking a smoking break and chomping down on the reminents of my seafood display from cocktail hour. as if this wasnt bad enough, our SPECIAL song that he had PROMISED to sing for us. he sang off CUE CARDS! not just cue cards, but off a 8.1/2 x 11 sheet of paper 2 inches from his face. utterly disappointing and what professional would do that, after all that they promised our song would be perfect. they also ended 10 minutes earlier than contracted time, leaving our timeline wack and our DJ having to cover for them. They sang a total of 1.5 hours at my wedding, and had to take a break after 40 in of performance? the timeline that i obviously sent to them they really didnt review with any heart nor paid any attention. there were points were they were supposed to stop and announce the DJ was taking over- they did not, they just started breaking down and up and left. The musicians also solciited my wedding planner to join them in their "after party". Completely disgusting and again not professional at all. Not sure about the other reviews on this site as they are all 5 stars, friends maybe? Between the booking managers- steve and ann and the treatment i endured from them before the event and teh day of mishaps I really wouldnt recommend them at all!!! read more

Steve Ezzo and the Monterey Bay All-Stars were amazing! My husband and I hired them to play jazz music for the cocktail hour, background dinner music, and then a full dance band after dinner. ALL of the music they played was incredible. We go SO many compliments about how wonderful all of the music was and people are still talking about the band three months after the wedding. I had so much fun dancing and the music that they picked was perfect. All ages, ranging from kids, to 20's, to grandparents, loved the music - Steve did a superb job making the party joyous, high energy, and fantastic for everyone. I am actually a musician myself, so I was really picky when hiring a band, and I was so happy to find such a very very talented group of musicians. The two lead singers were AMAZING; just wow, wow, wow. Also, Ann and Steve were so helpful, cheerful, organized, professional, and easy to work with. Through the whole process, my (now) husband and I always felt as though we were in good hands with Steve and his band, and the music really made the wedding unforgettable. I have no clue how I found their business, I wasn't even referred- I just stumbled across their website and contacted them for last minute ceremony music. We waited 2 months prior to come to the decision to have music and I am so glad we did! I requested "Marry Me" and at the time Ann mentioned it's not on his list of guitar solos but she would let me know if Steve could do it or not. OMG! As many of the other reviews said - working with Steve and Ann was a delight. From our first meeting it was obvious these are talented and professional musicians with tons of experience working pretty much any venue. For our wedding we had Steve on solo guitar for the ceremony, then added an upright bass and sax as a Jazz trio for cocktails and dinner, and finally the 6 piece band with Neil and Lisa as vocalists. Everything just worked perfectly - we had 3 different venues, but they had all the necessary equipment to make the transitions seamless. As they had promised - they excelled at getting people out on the dance floor - we had just 60 guests - but they made the place jump with energy. Finally a shout out to Ann - who tirelessly works the 'back office' - gently cajoling us to think through all the classic wedding events and help them understand the feeling we wanted at our wedding. Do yourself a favor and hire the Steve Ezzo Band for your wedding. They were my favorite vendor to work with, incredibly responsive and easy to work with during the planning process and they followed through immaculately during the ceremony itself. I had the idea of surprising my husband and all of our guests with the band, and Ann (the band's contact person and organizer extraordinaire) worked overtime to make sure that no one knew the band on the property until they began the first notes of "I Feel Good". This was not an easy feat as I got married at Holman Ranch and the dance barn was across the way from where we were eating dinner outside. Initially, finding the music entertainment for our wedding was a challenge. I'm a swing and blues dancer as are many of my friends. However, before meeting me, my husband had never done either, and none of his friends partner dance. Our friends and family have really diverse music and dance interests, and it was important to us to find the right musical entertainment to blend our friends and make our wedding reception fun for everyone. I remembered that my sister had been very pleased with her DJs and musicians, and she told me about Steve and Ann Ezzo. Steve plays guitar, and has other musicians he works with to provide live music, Steve and Ann have an extensive music collection for DJ'ing, and they both teach social partner dancing. After meeting with them, we knew that Steve and Ann understood our diverse music need and could successfully play to our crowd, and so we hired them to provide guitar and cello music for our ceremony and cocktail hour and to DJ our reception. We're so happy we did! They were absolutely awesome. From day one, it was really easy to email with Ann and share my input and thoughts about what type of music my husband and I wanted. She organized our thoughts and was willing to download any songs we requested that weren't already in their collection. She also gave me great advice for how to organize a ceremony and reception timeline. The day of our wedding, Steve, Ann and their hired cellist arrived early to our wedding site, provided all the sound equipment, and were prepared with all the songs we requested plus many that fit the tastes that we described. Steve and the cellist played beautiful and fun live acoustic music for our ceremony and cocktail hour, inspired by more modern music including the Beatles and Train. The DJ'd music was also perfect. We had the swing dancers and our other friends out on the floor all night. Steve and Ann kept the floor going for 3+ hours, and I give them major props for managing to cater to such a wide array of musical tastes. The Steve Ezzo band played my wedding at Mission Ranch two weeks ago. Wow, what an amazing band! The band was professional, on time, talented, and rocked the farmhouse! Everyone was up dancing and enjoying the great music. I arranged for Steve to play acoustic guitar for the ceremony, Dj for cocktail hour, then play with the four piece band for dancing! As a bride you do not want to have to worry about anything on your big night and that is exactly how Steve and Ann Ezzo made me feel. The whole night ran smoothly. The band learned a song at no extra cost for the first dance and Steve coordinated it so my fiance could sing the father daughter dance. I know a live band can cost a little extra, but it was definetely worth every penny! Ann handles the business side and she is awesome. I'm a tough critic when it comes to live music, but Steve Ezzo and his band are absolutely top notch!!! They performed at my wedding reception in Big Sur earlier this month and they were just fabulous. I booked their quartet for my cocktail hour and 8-piece band for the rest of the reception. Steve really knows how to read the crowd!! The dance floor was full all night, nobody wanted the music to stop. All of my guests raved about how awesome the band was. I had inquired about their rates through email, and due to a simple miscommunication through their website (so I'm guessing) they gave me ALL of the reasons why they couldn't perform in my hometown and how it would be way too expensive for me... The miscommunication was that I wasn't going to have the ceremony in my hometown, instead their hometown, Big Sur. Steve was the DJ for my wedding. He was so awesome and nice and kept everything on track the whole night. He also set the mood exactly right for each part of the reception. A couple times we had to move up the schedule because elderly relatives were tired and needed to go home and he just made it happen. We're so glad that we had him as part of our wedding. Can't say enough about Steve and his crew. My wife gave me very few responsibilities for this wedding, but one big one was to take care of the music. Ann Ezzo was our contact person and handles all the logistics for the band. She was awesome in following up with us periodically throughout the wedding planning process, all of which was to ensure everything ran like a well-oiled machine, and it did. She was able to prepare a package that fit our needs and was able to provide as much or as little as we needed. I also appreciated that Ann offered and recommended additional services as needed, but was never pushy about it like some vendors can be. Steve provided mics and sound for the ceremony, background recorded music for the cocktail hour, and a band for our reception, as well as MC'ing services for the reception. Everything was flawless. People came up to us all night thanking us for the live band and telling us how much they enjoyed the music and dancing. I was so impressed with the band that I told our photographers to make sure we got a picture with them at the end of the night. Steve and Ann are amazing. Having just the right person to handle the music and MC portion of a wedding is critically important to the overall feeling and style of any wedding. Steve is such a talented musician and he really set the perfect mood for our wedding. He played his guitar during the wedding ceremony and then DJ'd for the wedding. He played fast stuff when the mood needed something more upbeat, and slowed it down when people were a little tired and needed a slow dance. As a ballroom dancer, my husband and I appreciated having a DJ who knows the difference between the different dance styles and rhythms and can play music accordingly. I also appreciated how much Steve and Ann kept me in the loop about what was going on. Rather than just announcing different things (bouquet toss, garter, cake cutting, etc...) they always made sure that I was ready for the various events before they happened. It may seem like such a little thing, but I think its the difference between a good and a great DJ. Although I didn't have the full band for my wedding, I have seen Steve and the entire band play at the Lodge at Pebble Beach. They are very talented and really keep the party going. They were unequivocally the best part of our wedding, and also the best value too. We had a solo guitar for the ceremony, jazz trio for dinner, a seven piece band for the reception, MP3 songs for the breaks, PA systems, mics, and Steve's emcee services, all for a great price. Ann Ezzo handles the day-to-day operations and is super responsive and answers everything thoroughly. She also gives great suggestions and always tries to figure out the best value for you. The whole band doesn't perform publicly often (or at all?), but a duo with Steve(guitar) and Neil(singer) performs at the Carmel Highlands on Friday nights (where we got to relax and hear them play). We verbally agreed to a contract at Carmel Highlands then and there after meeting them. In the ensuing weeks and months, Ann worked with me adding pieces to the band on my whim and Steve and the band learned two songs (one for the ceremony and one for our first dance) for us on top of the extensive song list they already had. During breaks, they played all the songs I told them to as well. We didn't plan much of the day of the wedding and Steve totally handled everything we had him do the day of. From the processional to the reception to wedding party announcements to speeches. All of this was gone over, literally, right before they were about to happen. He handled all of our requests perfectly and it all looked like we practiced it a million times. During the reception, the band rocked the Holman Ranch barn. Everyone was dancing, from 2 year old kids to an 80 year old Italian grandfather to 60 year old Chinese women. This is how awesome they were. The entire band were consummate professionals. I cannot say anything bad about them. I could not imagine the day without them there. Book them early. We booked them in August for an October wedding and apparently were just early enough. Ann will work with your budget and you'll be surprised that the cost isn't bad at all. In fact, I kept adding things to our contract since it seemed like a good deal. With so many wedding vendors inflating prices, it's great to see how much value you can still get. I would skimp on almost all parts of our wedding, if I had to, just to book them. More than a DJ! Ezzo Entertainment also is a great source for live musicians! My husband and I had Steve and Ann Ezzo provide music for our wedding ceremony and reception. They were able to provide us with a harp player for the ceremony, Steve played a great selection on guitar for our cocktail hour, and then they provided great DJ coverage for the reception. The music selection was excellent and Steve kept the timeline moving as we requested! Steve and Ann were very professional and did an excellent job overall. We loved having Steve play acoustic guitar before and during the ceremony and then DJ the reception! He played the songs we sent him and was incredibly nice to our guests. My dad and I did one of those start with a slow song and switch to a fast song father/daughter dances and Steve played a huge part. He agreed to cut the slow song and make fun of us for picking such a sappy song and then start the fast song so the guests would think the DJ had gone rogue. The guests completely bought it and the reaction after was amazing! I would give future brides a heads up about interacting with Ann. This is not a criticism, just something to be aware of. When planning a wedding, many brides get used to all the vendors being super bubbly and friendly and over the top nice (I certainly did). In her emails, Ann is very direct and no nonsense. Again, this isn't a criticism, just more of a heads up not to take that personally. She responded to all my emails within 24 hours and was incredibly helpful. Steve played/performed at my reception at Pebble Beach. He played the guitar during cocktail hour and mc'd and played music during the reception. I gave him a list of do not play songs and then left the rest up to him. He said he could "read the guests" in order to pick the music to play. He was awesome!!! Everyone was dancing, no matter the age. He was great at mc'ing and making sure everything ran smoothly. Guests said he was very friendly when they requested songs and were amazed at how he got everyone, who didn't know each other before that night, to dance together. We hired Steve to play at our ceremony and Joy to DJ our reception - and wow we were so lucky to work with wonderful people! The hiring process was smooth and easy, and the prices were great! Steve was early, professional and played all the right pieces at the right time. Our guests loved him. We went with the package where they set up mics and a stand for the ceremony and I'm so glad we did. It was wonderful not to have to worry about these details the day of your wedding, and our guests had no problem hearing the ceremony. Joy was truly the star of the show. Honestly, Joy is the BEST ever! She helped us with our reception and kept us on track so we could sit back and enjoy the night rather than manage things. More importantly, she provided our guests with awesome entertainment. She even got on the mic, walked around and sang! What a wonderful voice. We had a small wedding with a large age gap between guests, and we were worried about not filling up the dance floor - but no problem with Joy there. She asked for requests from our guests, played lots of fun music and made sure everyone was out there shaking their groove thing and having a great time! She played our personal requests and even made sure to end on a sweet song to wrap up the night. We got some of the best photos since Joy was out there rocking the mic and people were having a blast. Joy and Steve are worth ten times what you pay for - thanks you two for making our wedding such an amazing event! We did contact other DJs in the area and the difference in service was astounding. One of the places we checked out had ridiculous prices and told us we would regret not working with them. When we mentioned we were having such a small wedding and paying a large amount just didn't make sense, they were so rude. Looking back on it all - I'm so, so thankful we worked with Joy. She truly made the event the best night of our lives - and she's an awesome person to boot. She even offered to have a less expensive meal to save us money - how amazing is that? All the previous reviews were SPOT ON. We just had our wedding at Carmel Valley Ranch and Ezzo entertainment provided the ceremony music, the cocktail hour music and reception entertainment. Whatever you need, they are able to put a package that would best suit you. I had countless guests coming up to me during the reception about how amazing the band was. My now husband and I were worried that no one would be dancing during our wedding, but literally, this band kept everyone on their feet! They also have great personality and showmanship. I loved watching them sing and jam, especially the female singer, she always had the greatest smile which was contagious! I communicated with Ann multiple times via email and she was super responsive and always made sure all the details were followed up. Could not have asked for a better wedding vendor. Speaking as the Mother of the Bride, I loved this band! They played at my daughter's wedding at the Log Cabin in the Presidio. They were gracious, warm and best of all, were wonderful. From the guitar solo for the wedding ceremony, to all the various music they played during the reception, they managed to accommodate guests of all ages happily. They had an enormous amount of talent. They mixed the music up to let everyone enjoy the entire reception, from the subdued music during dinner, to the lively dance music interspersed with slow songs to let everyone have a chance. My husband and I were completely pleased with their services. Not only was it extremely convenient to hire only one vendor for all our music needs, as opposed to hiring a separate company for the live music, but Steve and Ann were wonderful to work with. Warm and friendly, the duo was enthusiastic during the planning, and responded promptly to my many questions and concerns in the months before the wedding. Less apparent with some of the other DJs we checked out, Ann and Steve seem to share a genuine joy in their work - and they are very good at what they do! The day of our wedding, the live music was beautiful and the dance floor stayed busy all night. My husband and I had Steve Ezzo Entertainment play for our wedding on 10/22/2016 at Holman Ranch, and we could not have been happier with our choice! Steve played guitar during our ceremony (which was beautifully done), they dj'd the reception, and we had a full band for dancing. Steve did an amazing job MC'ing throughout the night, which made everything flow really smoothly, and helped give structure to the night. When we went to dance, we were blown away by how good the band was - we had chosen Steve Ezzo Entertainment based on how good the audio/video clips we saw were, but as good as they are, Ezzo Entertainment was even more amazing in person. They sounded incredible, played the music we requested (including learning our first dance song "All I Want Is You," which they did a beautiful job with, had positive energy the whole night through, and most importantly, kept everyone dancing until the last dance. So many guests told us how much the loved the band, and I know our guests wouldn't have danced as much as they did (and they danced a lot!), if the band were any other band than Steve Ezzo Entertainment. As an additional bonus, Ann was responsive and incredibly helpful throughout the entire process. Despite the fact that sometimes I was distracted by work/planning, she kept me organized, and made the whole process smooth, and entirely enjoyable.
