Julio was originally assigned to do my taxes and instead he passes them off to Ms. Rita, who then said I had too many forms (w2, 1098, and a 1099) so she deemed it complicated and she wanted to charge me $800.00?!? It was clear she did not want to be bothered and when I attempted to consult with her regarding my forms and that outrageous price, she acted as if she did not want to be bothered whatsoever. My advice to her and everyone else at the Bowie location....just quit!! You are tax professionals!! Stop trying to charge crazy prices and actually service people!

I gave this location 2 stars because they were friendly and I was able to do a walk in, same day service. That is where the stars stop. In particular, this location does not appear to be knowledgeable about taxes other than general themes that many of the folks walking in may know. You are probably going to be fine if you are filing a 1040EZ, but outside of that, you are going to be gambling. The issue that I had specifically was that I had turned my previous residence (current at the time) into a rental property and move to my current residence (2014). I received a tax credit in the state of VA (where the previous house was located), which was a deferred tax payment (paid yearly in taxes). I hadn't been in the house long enough to pay off the credit, so at the time of transformation from residence to rental property, I had to pay the credit back in full (2015 tax year). The H&R team really didn't know how it worked and had to look it up; they only knew that it had to be done because my H&R advisor in VA had warned me the year previous (2013). Not only were they not knowledgeable, they weren't able to calculate the total payback amount correctly, causing me to have to pay the balance ($193 - not bad luckily) this year. This caused confusion this year (2016 tax year) because I believed I had paid off the total and told my current H&R advisor (I'm now using the best of both program; my friend's father works at H&R) this, causing my federal taxes to be rejected by the IRS and us to trouble shoot for several more days. This has prolonged my return for quite a while. The folks at this location are very nice, just know that you may incur issues if your return is not very straight forward.

He's been doing our taxes for (what should have been ) 3…read moreyears. He was great the first year, okay the second year if you want to chase him down and then this year went off the rails. He's not responsive, he sets up calls and then never answers them. Even though he said he was "close" to having our taxes done in early March, by the end of March received nothing after several calls and emails. I do not recommend him for anyone. It's a little shameful for a veteran to screw over another but here we are.
